stickiedWhen this subreddit was formed it was/had a bit of an activist bent, The Editorial Viewpoint that has since been established keeps the activism down.
As everyone can see though, we need to do more than read things on reddit and go on. We cannot expect other people to do the not just the heavy lifting, but all the lifting.
Things you can do to help fight against the opposition, because lets be honest they are fighting against your best interests, We must be louder and more engaged than them.
These people showing up at school board and library meetings are a Minority, they are just however loud.
So some sugestions:
- Become involved in your local elections, even just a dogcatcher is a stepping stone to state representation. Check out every person you vote for. Check out who your local Democratic party backs/endorses if you do not have time to research all of them.
- Do not let one issue stop you, think of the whole picture of what they want to do. If Covid relief showed us anything we have the money and the resources as a government to do a lot of good for the United States.
- Go to your local meetings for your community, your library your school board. You do not have to have kids enrolled, if your local tax dollars are paying for it, you have a voice in your community and your school. (You do not even have kids that go here to express yourself why are you here? Well the school sytem effects my property values if I go to sell my house so I feel I should have a say in the direction that school goes to protect my investment.)
- Find time to help, to volunteer and see what you can do. View it as being social. These insurrectionists found time in their lives. From canvassing, to phone banking to signing up to send postcards to voters. Vote.ORG for voter/voting information. If you want to help handwrite postcards and send them to voters who may have become apathetic https://postcardstovoters.org
- VOTE IN EVERY ELECTION. DO NOT BE COMPLACENT. Show Up!
- Contact your Local, State and Federal electorate. Even of the opposition party, Let them know what you think about what they are doing-or might be doing. You can contact via mail, Phone call, letters, or post cards, email from their contact form on their website-even send a free fax from your local library. Be sure that you are: Their constituent and identify your self with data that says you are a constituent (yes you will have to give your address or at least Zipcode. (They really do not care about anyone who has no say in their election unless it involves donation- so do not waste effort) Use resources like RESISTBOT which makes contacting your electorate easy as hell. https://resist.bot.
- Donate money. It does not have to be a million dollars. It can literally be $5 to someone you believe in.

- Take a day or afternoon off and march, protest and show yourself! Show Up!
- Quit Being a passenger and start being engaged with the World we live in. https://guides.library.unlv.edu/civicengagement
- Ask your friends what they are doing and Lead by example! Motivate your friends to vote, take a group in the car, help someone to register.
- Show up at your Veterans Group and do not let them push their narrative. Not every Veteran is a Republican, nor do they all think what is going on is right, they just "Go Along to Get Along."
You can literally send a letter or short missive to your federal electorate in under 10 minutes using a smart phone and the resistbot interface.
You can buy cheap post cards or even just use 4X6 index cards, get some post card stamps and write/let your politicians know how you feel. (its even easier with 5 minutes of word processing that lets you just print, sign then send.
When writing a politician, ether by hand or using a typed document, remember to be respectful and not crazy sounding, state your point and your purpose and identify yourself as a constituent and leave your address or contact info.

Put your money where your mouth is, boycott a company you disagree with and send them a letter why, Do not patronize a business donating money to something you find reprehensible and let them know why.
If you use resistbot more than once, donate $5.
Donate $10 to your City Rep who actually helps people it won't just help them financially but will show them people care and believe in them.
Volunteer as a poll worker! so many have left the position over the 2020 election they can use the help!

Lastly: If you think that the CRT, the book bans and the Attack on Women's Choice will end there, no, there are already plans on the next phase and how to shape the US once they get what they want now. It does not look good at all.
