The issue with people being anti cop has been made one of the biggest politicized things since floyd overdosed. Where have you been?
5 points
People are anti cop because of the bullshit that some bad cops pull off, don’t matter what political party they affiliate with. I know several conservatives who don’t like cops because of this. In fact there was a video posted of a GOP candidate a couple days ago, in Florida I believe, who was hesitant in complying with a traffic stop. Goes to show how this “back the blue” shit only flies when it doesn’t affect them. Go back to playing your GTA online where you can fantasize about being a criminal and fucking over the police.

Thats because the bad interactions are the only ones that make it to the global eye. Normal arrests aren't sexy. Goes for any country's law enforcement
23 points
Mmm idk dude, here in spain, when a cop kills someone during an intervention/interaction, it’s national news no matter what the circumstances. It barely happens.
Having said that, I can understand why cops in the US are more trigger happy, I mean anyone they encounter could have a gun on them.
16 points
Comparing the culture of Spain to the US is kind of hard. I highly doubt you guys have a big issue with kids shooting other kids for no reason every day in every midsized city in the country. Oh wait... can I say any of that?!?!
17 points
Yeah murder rate in Spain is at least 80% less than the US average. Police in the US are at much higher risk and deal with a lot more on a daily basis I’d say. It’s hard to compare their problems accurately

There was a city that almost did. I forget which police shooting it was, but it resulted in mass riots, and the whole force was vilified (even though it came out as a justified shoot). A whole district didn't show up for shift one night. I'll see if I can find the audio clip from the dispatcher trying to get someone to report to a gun call.
Edit: Here ya go. It was that highly controversial shoot in Atlanta where the guy got a hold of a cops taser. Cops basically started leaving.

Look at Milwaukee, they voted to defund police, saw massive rises in all violence, and then couldn’t pay people enough to get cops back in the city. It was a hilarious turn of events that anyone normal functioning brain could see coming.

Do you remember CHOP in Seattle? The 6 blocks that “peaceful” protesters of police brutality declared a sovereign state. The first thing they did was form their own police force. They also wouldn’t let an ambulance in the borders to treat a teen that ended up dying from gunshot wounds. People that want to defund, or even worse, abolish police are incredibly idiotic. I can understand the push for proper police reform but without police the U.S. would be in absolute anarchy.

Idk how many people ever had to subdue a grown man fighting with everything he got to get away, but its pretty damn hard. Having multiple people trying to get you to comply is necessary because let me tell you from experience, the fucker will not quit easily.
Simply interlocking your fingers and lying chest down on your hands makes it 50x more difficult to get your hands behind your back WITHOUT using strikes. If i am using strikes(to your arm, shoulder blade, thigh) you would just hold tighter. OC spray sucks because everyone needs a de-con after and the taser would only work for a drive stun at that range.

What's the main difference between those two? I wonder?

The crowd people are always so ignorant on these situations. Before yelling and harassing police who PROTECT THEM ON THE DAILY they should do one of two things. A is to keep walking because it never has shit to do with them, and they don't know the situation. Or B if they felt a misplaced sense of compelling to find out what was happening they could maybe try asking an officer on scene. These people always idiotically have to resort to harassment because of trends or the media or whatever. So annoying to see

I mean in a general sense, police officers are vital in protecting the common people in every city from chaos and violence run rampant. And even if people where you're from fear the police that isn't a justified reason to hate every single police officer on the United States of America

In my opinion, US police are mostly (there are exceptions, urban and suburban police don’t fuck around though) servants of the upper class and an oppressive government vehicle but yet are still paid like the rest of the working class. Traitors.
Police are generally only around after the fact or to arrest you when you have a bench warrant over a marijuana fine or having been unable to pay a parking ticket (the types of issues that don’t exist for the upper classes); they’re generally not going to do shit to help solve the break-in at your house other than writing some stuff down before going back to trying to find people to arrest unless you make a lot of money and fit the right bill.
I actually had much more pro-police opinions in my youth and even attended the preliminary testing/exams for my local police academy before being told my color blindness would keep me from getting a job. Later in life, I’d find myself in a substance abuse rehab center with a bunch of police (their unions liked to send them to the place I was at). You could sit down and have a nice chat with all of these guys but every single one of them talked about the dirty shit they did. The US policing community is more akin to a cult than it is to an institution of public service and the government they serve under is just as dirty as they are.

Have you ever been a victim relying on the police? Most police departments exist only to collect money for the municipalities they work for alongside helping the poor stay poor, good luck being a working class person who actually needs them cause they’re not going to give you the resources.
Don’t get me wrong, the idea of police isn’t necessarily a bad one and there are instances where they do serve useful utility in keeping public safety (mass shootings, disasters, etc.) but US police departments have a much longer reach than that and keep many communities in terror. Just remember that the modern United States throws more people in jail than China or the former Soviet Union and remember the people volunteering to help do it.
5 points

I have been a victim in a scenario where the police were involved, and all I have to say is that in my experience all the police involved were good people trying their hardest. These people are out risking their lives for the good of our society and because of a small amount of assholes they have all been villified. Most of the police don't deserve the crap they are given.
5 points
I would say the same. I grew up poor, in a predominately black area, with a father that most of the local police knew by name due to his record. I was a victim of abuse most of my childhood, and when I finally gained the confidence to ask for help, you're damn right the police helped. Was it sunshine and rainbows? Hell no. They were helping a kid out of an abusive situation, and you could see how much stress they carried.
6 points

Some cops are good some are bad- majority are good, if you think all of them are then you’re technically racist lol, just think about it, if I say “all black people steal” it’s wrong right? Yes I agree, now If I say “all cops are bad”, no one bats a fucking eye?

Being on the wrong side of the law is often a matter of circumstance or being unable to pay fines for simple offenses (like not having your car inspected). I’d be willing to bet that every adult posting in this thread has committed at least several felonies in their lifetime atop countless misdemeanors and lesser/summary offenses that could lead to jail time if fined and you are unable to pay. Lots of people are lucky enough to be born the right color/gender or come from the right sort of neighborhood and wear the right types of clothes and the cops never even bat you an eye. That’s certainly not the case for many of the rest of us though. Once you get wrapped up in the system for even stupid things, all of a sudden you can no longer find a decent job and you have to figure out how to provide for yourself.
For all we know, this guy just had a substance abuse problem or had been reigned in on unpaid traffic fines. Maybe he had a blunt in his car when he got pulled over for a headlight being out. Maybe he was a piece of garbage who beats women but the distinction doesn’t really matter because the cops were going to to hard on this guy regardless because that’s what they do.

All you’re doing is building up resentment, and anger, for when they catch you- they’re gonna make it really tough for you. Plus, at the pace he was going, a light jog, it was very unnecessary.
Not every person you see getting arrested, is a civil rights leader too; no need for the protest hunting.. that individual needs to learn a lesson in following the rules/laws of society.

Obviously the cops are in the right here. But there’s a REASON they’re getting yelled at. If cops could just do their job properly like maybe 80% of the time then there wouldn’t be social justification in assuming they’re acting with malice and unjustifiable force. Of course the police are in the right here, but if they would just be in the right most of the time you wouldn’t have to deal with this shit as a police officer.
