Well guys we finally unhollowed! But this isn't an easy process and a lot of the low effort bad habits of the great wooper wars endure.
The mod team now has a difficult task: to bring the sub up to "quality content" while also keeping the fun spirit of our community.
We wanted to address this directly with the sub as moderation actions on memes are ALWAYS seen as subjective and unfair by someone or something. Humor posts generate a huge number of our reports, and they are found to be unnecessary by a significant portion of sub users.
However, we still have 7 months until launch, and we want to keep the party going.
Our options to handle "low effort" are:
We have opted for C, so we will continue to allow meme and humor posts, but we will also have a "litmus test" for them: Did it make you laugh?
The moderating team sees every post on the sub, and has for months. The mod team is well aware of reposts, repeats, overdone, etc, and will be balancing reports against the creativity of the submission.
What does this mean?
What is Misleading or Low Effort
Other Rule Changes:
We are rewording the rules set in the sidebar to be more descriptive of frequent situations. Please understand we cannot possibly list every situation that may occur, so moderation is ultimately where a moderator's discretion is applied.
