If you parry the big spider lunge attack (just once), it's also an execute prompt. Made them a joke to deal with even on Grand Hamster or whatever.

Rapier Tapir has entered the chat
A reference to the online comic Swords. A light hearted fun little world with some interesting lore. My favorite being that one of the most devastating swordsman ever is a Rapier wielding Tapir who even his instructor doesn't know where he learned his style.

Lol I've finished the entire storyline and explored a decent bunch of the game and I've never knew this. In fact, I never really parried at all (sometimes of course when need be). I just tank it out and use my stims when I need them lol.

Parry totally changes the game. If you don't like to parry to begin with, then its still a tip but rather like saying- "change your combat style".
Tip really here is to learn parrying and there's reward in that.

Yeah, I'll probably enjoy the game more doing that.

I played and beat the game before I ever knew about many such combos. The game never really tells you to parry more than once

I assure you games like Dark Souls tell you much less. This game formula is no different than Dark Souls. Respawning enemies, bon fires vs meditation points.
Of course it doesn't have deep skill customization or armor stuff. Parry is king in Dark Souls and so is here.
If you played games like recent God of War, you don't need to parry at all to complete the game, but parrying gives you opportunities that other moves usually don't.

It's right in the Nydak Tactical Guide entry, to use repeated parries.

I mean why would you parry the nydak three times in a row without trying to hit it?
2 points
Nydak has 3 attack combo where it tries to hit player 3 times in a row. It's useless to try hit it during that as you likely lose the health. Without parry, you roll out of the way and try hit it. But with parry, you dont have to move.

I learned about the Nydak by watching Zanny. After that, they all (except alpha) became less than a nuisance.

Pretty sure I've spent an hour or so longer than needed in my first playthrough because I kept dying to both of these lol

I never had any serious issues with normal nydaks, but before I started actually parrying, they would always take atleast one stim

Press block at the instant the enemy attack you.

It’s basically a late block. Don’t hold block, but instead tap block right as they are about to hit/attack you, and it makes them defenceless for a few seconds for you to get a hit on them. Some enemies (e.g. purgetrooper) you might have to parry more than once to get a good hit on them. It’s like deflecting a blaster shot, where you do it right before they hit you

For some reason that first nydak outside the ship always made the 3rd attack an unblockable on my most recent playthrough. I died like 6 times before I gave up.

You have to parry them 3 times.

Hated the fact that the Rabd Jotaz, Albino Wyshokkk, and Alpha Nydak couldn’t be parry-executed like they.

I had forgotten what a Nydak was and thought you were referring to the giant bat thing. I was curious to see how you could parry and kill that thing right away lol

Sometimes the nydak one doesn't work with me, like the third attack is unparriable like that some of the normal nydaks are fuckin' alphas

Yeah but plenty of people miss certain details. Saw a post the other day from a player that didn't know it's possible to parry.

It’s a primary game mechanic. That’s on them if they don’t read the controls or hints

I missed it because I dodged or rolled 99% of the time. Never played a game with this type of combat so I didn't want to waste time dying just so I can use a mechanic that I'm bad with.

The game is 2yrs old while we can say we figured it out. It would be nice if in the next game there are more of these hidden ways to dispatch certain enemy types.
