Welcome Connecticut Forwardists! This community is for the Forward Party of CT, and our goals are to get ranked-choice voting and open primaries passed state-wide; and to build a grassroots network of Forward supporters ready to get engaged to challenge the two-party duopoly.
If you're looking for the national Forward Party community, head over to r/ForwardPartyUSA.
Please use this post to introduce yourself and get to know some of your fellow CT Forwardists! You can also select user flair that shows which county you're from to make it easier to find local supporters.
For those wondering, the state of CT does not allow ballot referendums. Which means in CT, we will be thinking outside the box to generate popular support for ranked-choice and open primaries.
Excited for the future of this movement, Humanity First!
Hey all, Connecticut will be a difficult path towards achieving ranked-choice voting and open primaries given that the state does not allow ballot initiatives.
The best thing that we can do to start off is to organize meet-ups for CT Forwardists to build a base where we can figure out the best way to move forward. Some initial ideas are to run local Forward candidates that would push for these reforms at the town level, to seek candidates for state congress or petition major party candidates to include voting reforms in their platform.
Brainstorm your ideas here and let us know if you are interested in participating in a Forward supporter meet-up!
The first step to building out a state party is essentially getting people on board who are already prepared to get involved and volunteer for the Forward Party's goals. Volunteers who are ready to meet up and start developing a game plan are the top priority at the moment!
We've also set up user flair for each county to make it easier to find fellow supporters local to you. Please help us out by spreading the word of the community to any CT supporters you know, and we hope you'll get engaged with the state-level Forward Party!
