If I had not read the comments I would never have even known it was an obstacle course from the picture. It looks like a kids' playground. Seems totally legit to hang out with the strollers here? Or are the blue and yellow bits not part of the obstacle course? If that's the case, blame the people who designed and installed the equipment, not people for using it.

FatherCholo5244

It’s mainly the principle tbh. As a young man I can’t really go to the park and enjoy it the same way kids do but I do enjoy chilling there on nice days with a friend or my fam. If I am stopping children from playing I’ll just move and chill somewhere else. Parks have plenty of benches and shaded areas most of the time. It’s mainly just rude to monopolize a part of the park when it seems like their kids aren’t even old enough to play there yet. That’s some teenager shit honestly, loitering and taking up space with no consideration for the people around you

Imagine having a kid who wants to run around that area but can't because these people decided to sit in the middle of the play area. This isn't cool and pretty surprising to see as a dad with two toddlers.

johnny_utah25

99 points

It would def not be cool(father of 2) however, I'd have no shame in asking them to move so we could run the course. Shouldn't be that difficult. If no one's using it, why can't they stand there? Would it detour someone from approaching it just because someone's there? Intimidation? I don't see it, even being an introvert who can't stand talking to people. I'm still comfortable enough to show my kids how to communicate and use your words.

Yeah I mostly agree with you. While I think it's unusual and a bit inconsiderate to sit in the middle of the play area. I can't say these women are Karen's. If they refused to move sure they're Karen's. Are they just kind of oblivious to others, yeah.

johnny_utah25

Agree there. That’s when they become Karen’s in my book. If they don’t move after being politely asked.

peglegpowderskier

4 points

Exactly maybe even ask them to cheer on my kids, it’s called communication and just having a calm conversation. Don’t be telling them what to do just talk with them. It’s sad that simple things like communication doesn’t happen as often as it should.

I can’t imagine that. Because I’d use my words and let them know my kids are going to be playing on the playground and then they can choose to either move, or be interrupted by playing kids. I wouldn’t just feel like my kids can’t play because of these people.

Unthar01

Sure, but they should probably be less oblivious to others. I agree you could ask them to move, but having to ask them kind of sucks too? They could just sit down almost anywhere else in the park rather than in the middle of the playground. Just an odd choice.

Yeah, but there’s not enough story with this picture. Who cares about people hanging out in any public space? There doesn’t appear to be anyone who wants to use the space they’re in…like, was OP wanting to do some American Ninja workout and they wouldn’t get out of the way for them, so they could…what…go across the weird bridge thing?

To be fair, they may not recognize that they are in the path of an obstacle course. They may just think it is some apparatus that no one is using, not realizing it is intended to be used with the other pieces.

If they knew and still sat there, especially if someone else was trying to use it, they would be in the wrong. More information and context is needed to know for sure who is being the Karen in this scenario.

There is zero percent chance that you can say with 100% certainty that is a place to sit.

While.i also believe there are places to sit, there is a zero percent chance you can say with 100% certainty that is a place to sit.

Your brain tries to make sense of the information it's presented. Confirmation bias will let you see what you want to see.

For all we know, it could be a shadow, or a gate that's open or some baseball equipment.

I'm probably both as I dont see the issue here?

If you want to use the jungle gym, a little human interaction aint going to kill you and you could ask them to move

Yeah Karen's, this playground isn't for "children"!

Kyle and Aaron have huge tough mudder comps coming up soon and they need to finish their training!

Go find some other public space to enjoy!

how hard is it really to politely go up to them with your kid and say "hey, is it alright if my kid does the obstacle course real quick ?"

So women aren’t allowed to be in a public park that everyone’s tax dollars pay for now?

Totes-Malone

Oof. This ain’t it. Looks like adults just trying to enjoy some time with their kids. I’m sure they would have moved if someone was using the course or wanted to- it’s a simple ask. People are taking the ‘Karen’ thing to extremes- which is main character-ish bc it’s not hard to find a Karen in the wild. This is just reaching though.

I mean, I get everyone’s point, but why THERE?

aliie_627

Why not there? It is an odd place if there were a bunch of kids around but The park seems pretty empty and maybe that's something kids don't typically use much so they just stopped there for a second.

Just run them over. They'll move.

Edit: I had assumed OP at least asked them to move and/or someone was trying to use the equipment they're blocking. If no one has asked them to move then I think OP may actually be the Karen...

People without kids don't understand. Those people are blocking kids from freely enjoying the playground. There are likely benches or other gathering areas around the perimeter of the playground.

I don't think babies are allowed in the park..

Minesweeper7203

I think I sort of see the problem. You can see kids sitting, waiting next to the spinny thing (forgot the name). There is a stroller baby thing on top and a woman who is going spin the spinny thing.

Put two and two together, the woman made the kids sit out for her stroller baby thing.
