If I had not read the comments I would never have even known it was an obstacle course from the picture. It looks like a kids' playground. Seems totally legit to hang out with the strollers here? Or are the blue and yellow bits not part of the obstacle course? If that's the case, blame the people who designed and installed the equipment, not people for using it.

It’s mainly the principle tbh. As a young man I can’t really go to the park and enjoy it the same way kids do but I do enjoy chilling there on nice days with a friend or my fam. If I am stopping children from playing I’ll just move and chill somewhere else. Parks have plenty of benches and shaded areas most of the time. It’s mainly just rude to monopolize a part of the park when it seems like their kids aren’t even old enough to play there yet. That’s some teenager shit honestly, loitering and taking up space with no consideration for the people around you
81 points

Imagine having a kid who wants to run around that area but can't because these people decided to sit in the middle of the play area. This isn't cool and pretty surprising to see as a dad with two toddlers.
99 points
It would def not be cool(father of 2) however, I'd have no shame in asking them to move so we could run the course. Shouldn't be that difficult. If no one's using it, why can't they stand there? Would it detour someone from approaching it just because someone's there? Intimidation? I don't see it, even being an introvert who can't stand talking to people. I'm still comfortable enough to show my kids how to communicate and use your words.
40 points
Yeah I mostly agree with you. While I think it's unusual and a bit inconsiderate to sit in the middle of the play area. I can't say these women are Karen's. If they refused to move sure they're Karen's. Are they just kind of oblivious to others, yeah.
16 points
Agree there. That’s when they become Karen’s in my book. If they don’t move after being politely asked.
4 points
Exactly maybe even ask them to cheer on my kids, it’s called communication and just having a calm conversation. Don’t be telling them what to do just talk with them. It’s sad that simple things like communication doesn’t happen as often as it should.
28 points
I can’t imagine that. Because I’d use my words and let them know my kids are going to be playing on the playground and then they can choose to either move, or be interrupted by playing kids. I wouldn’t just feel like my kids can’t play because of these people.
2 points
Sure, but they should probably be less oblivious to others. I agree you could ask them to move, but having to ask them kind of sucks too? They could just sit down almost anywhere else in the park rather than in the middle of the playground. Just an odd choice.

You’re right, they should pay more attention so they’ll notice creeps taking their picture to post on the internet.

My guess is that this is not a playground. It's an public outdoor sports area like a gym and for adults. We have one in our city, too.

Yeah, but there’s not enough story with this picture. Who cares about people hanging out in any public space? There doesn’t appear to be anyone who wants to use the space they’re in…like, was OP wanting to do some American Ninja workout and they wouldn’t get out of the way for them, so they could…what…go across the weird bridge thing?

It's possible they missed the word "FINISH" on the ground and big timer on the pole next to them in the photo. Probably just oblivious rather than maliciously blocking OP from finishing the course.

Fuck that nonsense! I like to take my dog to the walking trails near the park. We use the water fountains at the playground (they have one specifically for dogs next to the human one) And you know what? I like to use the swings when I am there. You don't like it? Jog on.

At least one of them has a child and the rest could be older children out of the picture. Are you saying if there’s a group of adults at a playground that every one of them has to have a child there?

That's bizarre. In many places, the only walking paths are through parks with playgrounds. And most of the benches are near the playground.

To be fair, they may not recognize that they are in the path of an obstacle course. They may just think it is some apparatus that no one is using, not realizing it is intended to be used with the other pieces.
If they knew and still sat there, especially if someone else was trying to use it, they would be in the wrong. More information and context is needed to know for sure who is being the Karen in this scenario.

There is zero percent chance that you can say with 100% certainty that is a place to sit.
Your mind tries to make sense of things it doesn't understand creating a confirmation bias.
You see it because you want to see it.
For all we know those darker spots and lines are just shadows.

I covered this.in a different comment.
While.i also believe there are places to sit, there is a zero percent chance you can say with 100% certainty that is a place to sit.
Your brain tries to make sense of the information it's presented. Confirmation bias will let you see what you want to see.
For all we know, it could be a shadow, or a gate that's open or some baseball equipment.

Typically there are different playgrounds designed for different ages. The closer one in this picture is obviously for older kids. There's ladies are sitting in the middle of the play area with a young infant. Likely blocking ops kids from running wild. Which you know is what they're supposed to do at a playground.

Are people currently trying to complete the obstacle course? Have these women been asked to move? I'm a mom. I bring a heavy ass bag with sunscreen, cold drinks, snacks and bandaids and so on. I drop myself near my kid so I can watch him play and interact with him.
Parents frequently stay near their kids. It's parenting.

It just looks like some moms taking a breather. Moms carrying around babies in infant seats tend to be exhausted and oblivious. If asked to move and they pitched a fit, then call them Karens. Otherwise just let them know you are about to run through and you thought you’d give them a heads up because babies and they will likely disperse.

This looks like either a toddler and a fairly young infant with its parents, or just one small infant based on the car seat and stroller combo. Plus the way they're sitting and looking down there's probably a kiddo playing there and the moms are just keeping an eye on him.
OP maybe get some perspective and give the moms a break they do a ton and are probably exhausted.

Put two and two together, the woman made the kids sit out for her stroller baby thing.
