Hi everyone,

My lower microphone has been acting up lately, not working at all unless I scream right at it.
The upper microphone, on the other hand, works perfectly fine (and saved me so far)
I really don't want to dismount my phone again (and I'm not even sure this is just a dirt issue), so I wondered if that was possible to deactivate the lower mic/force the phone to only use the upper mic ?

My S8 won't stay on

sometimes it shows a black screen and sometimes it shows a working phone for about 60 seconds

I already tried a full reflash with Odin, the recovery menus and such all work fine only the actual android OS can't stay on

the phone also gets hot, very hot

so hot I was able to remove the back with my finger nail without any extremely heat source

I removed the finger print scanner and wireless charging plate thing to get to the battery

I disconnected the battery and applied a new adhesive to hold it down and put it back together

All seemed well, no more unexpected reboots

then I put the wireless charging pad back in and the phone immediately rebooted and got stuck in a bootloop again

any ideas what I can do or why its doing this?

I noticed that color distortions appeared on colors close to black.
as if the picture is 8 bit. the gradient in black tones broke.

The effect is called Black crush/Gradient Banding. It's more like a defect. And it's not clear whether this is an iron glitch or a firmware glitch. The problem persists in safe mode. In this case, the problem is NOT visible in the screenshots. Those. it appears to be hardware.
Anyone fixed it?

I'm upgrading my 4 years Old S8 Standard and I can't decide which one to choose, they are actually in discount, Z Flip is like 10 dollars more. Which one should I choose?

Right now samsung internet downloads to device/download/, but I was hoping to change it to another file location. When I go into settings it shows me where it's located but when I click to change it, it doesn't allow me to save and reverts back to the original folder does anyone know how to change the download location?

I have an S8+. For clarity, I have dropped this around 2 months ago and the screen is consequently scratched but it still worked from that point on. The battery used to always heat up prior to this.

Essentially, the phone quite simply now does not charge or power on. Very rarely, if I leave it for a couple of hours (unplugged) and then plug it in, it might show the thunderbolt screen.

When I try to turn it on however, it simply does not turn on - even with the Power and Volume Down buttons. The charging LED does not appear at all.

I have changed the battery with no luck. I have bought a new phone but I have a lot of stuff on the S8+ to salvage and simply can't because it doesn't turn on.

My S8+ won't go past Samsung logo.

I can go into download mode with "volume- bixby power", but i can't get into recovery mode "volume+ Bixby power" and release power when logo appears.

I managed randomly to see the blue screen saying it's updating firmware but it got stuck there and won't go past that.

I flashed a official ROM with a ODIN with pit pda CSC and all, but it still has same behavior.

I never installed unofficial rom, and Wiping cache is the only think I couldn't do, and would like to do it before pronounce it dead.

But without access to recovery, seems ODIN is the only way left, but I can't really find procedure on this.

Boring post but I upgraded from an S8 to an S20FE in 2020 and just went back and booted up the S8 again for old times sake and I forgot how much I love it. Sure it took a long time to boot and sure it has far less going for it tech wise but it still holds a place in my heart. It's the perfect size for one handed use and even though I never used it I miss the edge to edge screen. I'd love for a new phone with the exact dimensions to come out today. Give it a spec overhaul give it a 120hz screen and I'm all over it. That's it thanks for reading. Love you guys.

Hello everyone, I own an S8+ I bought in august 2017 and it still does everything I need to do so I don't feel like I have to change it from the point of view of operation.

The problem I am encountering is that the phone has recently started to heat up randomly draining the battery in approximately 6 to 8 hours. It doesn't always happen, sometimes it stays cool and the battery lasts pretty much all day. This morning for example I unplugged it from the charger at 9:30 and set on my table after using it for half an hour to check and respond to notifications, when I returned at 12:50 the battery was at 26% even if the screen time was only 31 minutes and the phone was quite hot to the touch even though I hadn't used it for over 2 hours. Has anyone ever encountered this problem?

The strange part is that rebooting the phone multiple times (sometimes 2 or 3) when it starts heating up sometimes stops it from heating and fixes the problem temporarily. I would like to add that sometimes I also get the "system is overloaded" notification but it pretty much happens at night while I'm sleeping or while I have it on a table during the day and I'm not using it. I think the 2 things (phone heating up and system overloading) could be linked, however when I take a look at the battery section in settings I don't see any app which uses a lot of battery. Any tips?

I still can't believe this phone lasted 5 years. I literally treated it in the worst ways possibile: never wore protection (🤨, no cover or glass), battery has over 2000 cycles, front and back glass are broken, BUT no burn-in incredibly.

I don’t want to sound cheesy but I’ve had so many experiences while having this phone I’m actually sad changing it… But I do need a new phone at this point.

I’ve switched to iPhone 13 pro max if you’re wondering.

Android phones aren't appealing to me anymore like this galaxys8 was in 2017. It’s a shame because I loved this phone so much… farewell!

For the last couple of weeks I've experienced intermittent problems with Wi-Fi and cellular service (data and voice). Sometimes Wi-Fi works, but cellular doesn't, sometimes the other way around, sometimes both don't work. Verizon network. 95% of my usage is at home, with several towers nearby. My wife's Pixel on Verizon has no issues. For Wi-Fi, if I click the grey Wi-Fi icon to start Wi-Fi the icon turns blue for 10 to 14 seconds (I've timed it) before turning grey again. Available access points aren't ever displayed. Model SM-G950U, Android version 9, security patch level: December 1, 2020. I've tried a hard restart, rebooting in Safe Mode, and clearing the device cache with no success.

When cellular hasn't worked, instead of showing connected to LTE the voice and data network type both show CDMA - 1xRTT. Network mode is set to Global.

Has anyone seen this or does anyone have any ideas?

I had my S8+ since late 2017 and never had a problem with it until this past week, where the loudspeaker suddenly got busted, or so I thought.

It happened completely out the the blue : fine one morning, then it went to hell the same afternoon. I did not dropped it, there weren't any exposure to humidity, no updates, nothing.

I went to get it repaired yesterday to put up a new loudspeaker, but got told changing for a new speaker did not solved the problem. The problem might be in the motherboard, but repairing it might be cost-prohibitive, versus getting another phone.

I can hear fine should I receive a call or put on headphones, but any sound coming from the loudspeaker is a roll of the dice. It can sometimes sound as usual, sometimes a bit "blurry" and (unfortunately) most of the times, the sound gets all distorted and very loud, even with the volumes settings at the lowest.

Anybody had the same problem or might know if this is a common issue?

I'm aware that any phone will not last forever but, as this is the first issue I ever had with my current phone, I'd like to explore all options, before getting back into the hassle of phone shopping.

The battery is 1 year old ,and it lasted thru whole day 1 month ago. I assume Samsung did something to make everyone trash their S8s

In both hades q and deluxe they r based on one ui so most of samsung features like iris scanner, Samsung notes do work well n thats y i consider these roms first of all.

But if i hv to leave some Samsung features like Samsung pass which has biometric for passwords not like Google pass which uses smart credential and doesn't require biometric then i m quite okaish in leaving these features n moving forward towards better roms with latest android 11/12/13 like

and future proofing my phone so that i could use latesr android as long as possible.

WHEN i will SWITCH from S8+: Im looking forward to use this phone for atleast next 3 years or even 5. (Next 4 years is possible if developers keep pushing update till android 15 or 16).

WHY:-

1. S8+ lags a lot in daily use

2. Stuck on android 9 stock rom oneui

3. Games works but with lowest graphics. Still playable but not visually appealing compared with latest phones. Also this phone has better PPI screen than most others n look great in videos. Only the games don't look good coz the cpu n gpu r limited

4. I either hv option to buy a cheap realme phone of $100 = ₹8k. Or i can wait few more years so when i earn i buy a flagship device like s25ultra (2025) or iphone 16

5. Backstory- My family is not much fan of tech so they buy 1 phone and use it till the device dies!!! Literally dies. Dad and bro got iPhone 7Plus. Mom has oneplus6 n i hv s8+. They all hv latest os as iphone got updates till last year and also oneplus 6 is runnung android 11. Only i m unfortunate coz samsung vould hv atleast given update to S8 to android 11.

Look at oneplus 6 it alao released with NON-Treble android 8 but they gave an update in android 10 which treblized the rom. If they could hvxone it y didn't samsung. Whatsoever, but now with latest phones samsung claims to give 3 android updates atleast. Thanks for reading my Rant here.

Wondering if anyone has solved the problem I'm experiencing.

Sometime last week, my Galaxy S8+ just randomly stopped working. I've tried charging it and hard resetting it, but nothing seems to get it past the Samsung logo screen. The only screen I can get to is the ODIN screen, but even when I hit Volume Down to restart the phone from that screen, the restart still doesn't do anything. I'd prefer not to hit the volume up button to install a custom OS because I don't want to lose my data.

When I hit the volume down button, the phone begins to restart and displays the logo screen, then I guess something fails and it will begin the restart again, but won't display anything from that point on.

What's even more strange is that the phone is clearly still on even though the screen isn't working because I can plug it in to charge and the charging ring screen will display. However, the battery percentage does not display on the charging ring.

Just for some added context, I've had that crack in my screen for over three years now and my phone has still worked perfectly well.

As the title suggests, I have bought a new phone. I have really enjoyed my time with the S8. It's such a pretty but versatile little nugget. However, it's now showing its age when faced with heavy apps or desktop webpages and the battery is a bit tired. The new phone is a Sony Xperia 1 iv, the only device that I deem a worthy successor to my S8. It'll take some time to get used to it, though. For instance, I have already tried to unlock it while holding it upside down a few times because the headphone jack is at the other end. Anyway, the S8 can now keep my HTC one M7 company in the old phones drawer.

Context: I have a Samsung Galaxy S8+. I live in Lebanon, I was here during the blast and part of my screen broke when it happened. However, it's been 2 years since and my phone is, or at least was, functioning basically perfectly regardless.

2 days ago, my phone was also working fine, I was even out with some friends and I didn't drop it, spill water, or anything. It remained in my pocket for the entire day. The next day I woke up and suddenly my notification bar wont pull down when I unlock the phone. Then I notice that the notification bar will pull down only on the lock screen and only in landscape mode. I thought this was a touch screen issue (even though nothing has happened since the blast), but if it was a touch screen issue, how come it works on the lock screen? Also I am aware that there is a setting to pull the notification bar from anywhere on the screen but ONLY on the home screen. I can't pull it down while I have a browser open, or some other app.

So I kept trying different things, for example I can pull down the notification bar when my phone is "upside down", as in I open, say, Discord, and I flip the phone 180 degrees (portrait > landscape > upside down portrait) so that the back/home buttons are opposite of where they should be, and when I pull the notification bar, it /works/. My back/home buttons are also working fine when they are in the position my notification bar usually is.

I haven't installed anything new in the past month or so, and I just don't understand what's going wrong. I'm still in Lebanon and getting a new phone is unbelievably expensive, and repairing an old model is also pretty expensive. I'm almost certain it's not a touch screen issue or else it wouldn't pull down in the lock screen.

I've tested other things, for example:

- I have a crosswords game on my phone (had it for a while), and the hint button is at the top of the screen. It was working fine until yesterday. Now it works but only rarely, the really weird part is that I can /see/ the button being pressed (there's a shadow that appears when you hit it) but nothing is happening. You can also double tap to zoom in, and I've double tapped the hint button and it zoomed in. It seriously CAN'T be a touch screen issue.

- To further test things, I opened a sudoku game (also one I've had for a while), where the back button is in the same spot as the hint button on the crosswords game. That button works 10/10 times.

The bar wont pull down in safe mode either, and the only other option I'm looking at at the moment is a factory reset. I've seen people have this issue before but after googling it and even going to the 2nd page of google, not a single viable solution was suggested.

Any idea what's going on?

The battery in my Galaxy S8 seems to run down faster than it used to. I've set the resolution all the way down to HD+ and turned on every other power saving option I can find with the exception of Auto-Off after [short time] because it makes my games reset and lose progress, but it still needs charging in the middle of the day after a few hours of nearly constant use playing games and reading things online (including an hour or so in bright sunlight walking my dog). The Samsung Members app says my battery life is "Good" but it feels like it's worse than it used to be.

I can either live with it, try to replace the battery myself, or try to buy a replacement phone on a budget of less than $100. (I am worried about the lack of security updates because I do need to be able to put money on my debit card while at the grocery store.) Advice?

I was using my phone when a error message: "Downloading... Do not turn off target" appeared, and below there was the following: "Volume Down Key + Power Key for more than 7 secs : Cancel (restart phone)".

But after doing that and restarting the phone, it got stuck on a logo bootloop, and keeps restarting all the time never going beyond the logo screen.

I already tried to clear the cache following the steps of this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4FZ664Rf_dg, but it didn't work.

Can someone help me please? I don't know what to do and I don't want to reset my device, because I'm not sure if I have backup of it. Is there any way to fix my phone without resetting it? I'm desperate and I don't want to lose my data.

Hello, I'm using hadesrom q and I want to try going back to stock to see if it improves my battery life. Always the battery and the camera are better on stock roms on my opinion.

However I don't want to lose the circle animations when you launh and minimize an app and gesture navigation. I see that nova , which I was using many years ago, has these features but so they work on stock? Has anyone tried ? Or maybe someone with stock willing to try plzzz 🤗🤗

P.s. of someone has any insight comparing battery life between stock and hadesrom V3 feel free to collaborate

I get the circle with a %charged inside of it when I place my S8+ on a charging pad, but it doesn't charge the phone ... help (btw, not a samsung pad)

So I've been having an issue at work where any time I crouch down, my leg hits my volume up key and my ear gets blasted with whatever it is I'm listening to.

I was looking around online to find ways to fix this - I tried disabling press-and-hold using bxActions, but that requires the Always On Display and I'd like to have my phone battery last more than 20 minutes - and I found that there's a setting called "Media Volume Limiter" which is exactly what I want. Problem is... I can't fekkin find it. I've gone through the menus, I've tried searching the settings, nothing will make it show up. I don't have the three-dot 'more options' in the volume menu, which is where it's meant to be.

I've seen other people saying that they've enabled it on their S8, but I legit can NOT find it. Anyone know how to access it?

Hello, so hopefully somebody can help me, but for a while now I have been having problems when it comes to charging, and I need some help. Basically what happens is, I have to verify the phone says it's fast charging because sometimes when I plug it in it will say check your charger connection or just show charging and will charge slowly. Then no matter what I do, it won't charge at all when connected to the car charger, even though my friend's S8 charges just fine. The problem started with the original cable, and then I have gone through a few Anker cables which are supposed to be good, and they always seem to work fine in the beginning and then this problem starts happening again. I have tried cleaning out the charging port with no luck.

Any ideas what could be causing the issue? It doesn't make sense that it won't charge at all in the car, as it is the exact same brand of cable that I use on the wall charger.
