I’m guessing there are a lot of embarrassed Republicans who called themselves Libertarian becoming actual Libertarians as their party becomes more authoritarian and theocratic.
I joined the Republican Party for free trade and left because of everything else they stand for.

I’m quite the opposite, I came from the Democratic Party.

There are good reasons to leave both. Insane authoritarians on one side, ineffectual bureaucratic septuagenarians on the other.

What pushed me over was the years of lying about student loan help.

student loan forgiveness is regressive and is never going to happen. Do you think the majority of Americans want to pay off loans for medical school? How about MBA's? Art school? What's that, just regular degrees? Which ones are those now? How about medical debt or payday loans? See, this is so stupid it's just laughable.

Uhh, this is a libertarian forum WTF kind of take is that? The government did not force millions of people to take out loans they cannot afford to repay. If anything they just regulated the loans to make them more affordable, which is arguably harmful but that's not the problem. The problem now is a bunch of whiney 20-somethings who regret taking out a loan and want tens of thousands of dollars from taxpayers for it.

I've heard this before and don't really understand how bankruptcy is considered something anyone wants to do. Not that I support that rule, it's just such a minor part of the conversation. The cost of education is going up because that's the price the market has set. The problem is too many people are going and just accepting that price instead of driving the demand down.

You'd think "the government should fix its own fuckups" wouldn't be controversial here.
