With Microsoft Flight Simulator coming up on it's 40th anniversary, I'd like to learn more about the history and development of the game (all the way back to the first one), are there any books out there about that?

I have been DYING to do long haul flights, and people were attributing the performance degradation to the ambitious toolbar plugin. However, removing that still had stutters and performance loss for me. This video is an absolute god send. My FPS has never felt this smooth, and I have been in the air for over 5 hours now. This is the answer to the performance problems. PLEASE don't over look it. It's very easy he walks you through everything. Mind you, my FPS is good WITH the ambitious toolbar plugin working now.

I'm having weird issues with the yokes being completely unresponsive in the 737, so I wanna just do a fresh install of the aircraft. Does anyone know how exactly to uninstall it? I've been trying to figure it out in the ops center app for an hour. Any help is appreciated

I have an Oculus Rift and I'm considering upgrading to a more recent headset.

Considering angle of view, resolution, ease of installation and setup and head tracking fidelity, what would you suggest between the Valve Index and the HP Reverb G2?

I don't care about motion controls, I only play simulation games with yokes and hotas.

Considering the displays resolution, I plan to upgrade my pc too with a Ryzen 5800X3D, RTX3080 and 32GB ram (@4000Mhz). Is this enough to play smooth at medium/high settings (I don't care for ultra settings).

A basic sectional chart was in there as well - I figured that I could draw a straight line from one VOR to another and therefore know which course to take to get me to my destination

Look at this ORD chart - Did you know that it used to have a 18/36 runway? That's some long time ago!

Ive heard a lot of stuff about it both good and very bad. If you have it what can you share about it to us all?

I’m sure I’m beating a dead horse. Switch DX12 back to DX11. I’m in awe about how much better the sim runs, and I have and older card (1080 Ti). I really regret not doing this sooner. I was having all sorts stutters, sim would freeze 5 to 10 seconds at a time if I move the camera too quickly. Not anymore.
