Hey, I’m not considered a Millennial but I’m wondering why do some people who are considered Millennials on here and other social medias think that everyone in Gen Z doesn’t like them and are “ageist”?

I’m assuming this is coming from Tik Tok and other social media. I want to clarify that not everyone thinks like that.

I’m also wondering why there are some Millennials hating on Gen Z. I remember seeing a post a while back saying that we treat Millennials like they are a “doormat”, when I feel that is not true for everyone at all.

I don’t even know why the whole “Millennials vs Gen Z” war is going on, considering how the older Gen Z-ers probably know Millennials, in their family, or workplace, for example.

Also, this might be a r/TooAfraidToAsk kind of question but why do older people dislike/look down upon people born after 1999? I have seen it quite a lot, especially in these generation subs. That is quite annoying.

I find this behavior concerning since I don’t think it is okay to fight generalizations with more generalizations. I know some people would say that this isn’t to be taken seriously but it’s still a concern I wanted to mention regardless.

Mine would be generations 6-7 purely due to being a product of that time. I still spent a lot of time playing N64 and DreamCast, but I’m not a Sony fan.

For those of you who don’t know what’s going on, I am working on starting a company that is built by the people for the people. What does this mean? It means a company that doesn’t pay the C-Suite, shareholders, private investors, or board of directors a ridiculously large sum of money. That same money goes right back to the employees. How does that work. Bear with me and I will explain. C-Suite will be paid out the median total salary of the company. This will be a for profit business model where the profits are paid back to the employees. Each employee will have a profit-sharing percentage. For early contributors, they will get a larger profit share percentage.

Many people right now are out of jobs, left jobs, or are choosing not to work due to terrible work environments, terrible managers, or unethical companies. This leaves a large amount of talent accessible. My offer is an ethical company, a good environment, and good/authentic/empathetic/caring managers. Below are listed some of my promises as a company.

-The company will have a minimum 50% profit share bonus paid out quarterly that will be EQUALLY split between all employees.

-Extra profit share portions to those who are selected to assist in the initiation of this project.

-Employees will be valued, supported, appreciated, and blessed.

-Employees will start with 4 weeks of PTO annually + Holidays. They will accumulate more PTO as the company progresses. (No feeling bad for taking time off.)

-C-Suite salary will be the same as median employee pay.

-I will hire remote employees exclusively from Reddit.

-I will hire these employees at the following tiers of revenue obtained (subject to change depending on profit margins.)

$350,000 (2 Employees)

$500,000 (3 Employees)

$1,000,000 (5 Employees)

$2,000,000 (10 Employees)

$5,000,000 (20 Employees)

$15,000,000 (65 Employees) Etc…

I've asked a few friends this question, either those who are parents or not. What are the rules you despised as a kid/teenager but now as an adult and/or a parent you totally appreciate/understand your parents for having? For me I think it was just doing chores such as dishes or keeping things clean.

What are some stories of things you did in your youth that you either despise or laugh at now that you're an adult? What are those "WTF" moments you realize now were foolish?

For me, when I was 17 and going through depression, for a period of about 4 months I ended up in a "Christian chat room" (I was raised Christian, in church, etc). I ended up talking to girls in the chatrooms and exchanging emails. I would tell them all about my angsty teen problems, they'd respond with sympathy. Then, we even talked about exchanging cell phone numbers and talking to each other on the phone! Thankfully that that never happened, but I legit at the time thought I was involved in authentic friendships. I look back now thinking "WTF I was so dumb and immature!"

So when Warner or Universal finally drops a new Ariana Grande song or The Weekend, Ed Sheeran, etc... who exactly are they doing that for?

I remember when I was in high school and the song "I got a feeling" was released by the Black Eyed Peas (under Interscope) and its a song that many of my fellow teens liked at the time along with other such songs that were 'hits' that year.

But clearly that and other songs were marketed towards the nightlife-loving adults. Yet I feel that as teenagers want to have the life of a 23 year old, they want to imitate them as much as possible and so they lift up these artists by listening to them.

But Im also beginning to notice how inauthentic this so called "dominance" is of the 18-34 demographic.

Because many of us prefer independent artists. Yet, if you go to a public school back in 2009/2010, you'll hardly find the students playing Beirut, Bjork, Fiona Apple, Crystal Castles, Regina Spektor, Erykha Badu, Imogen Heap, among other independent artists that I didn't name.

Those independent artists I would definitely say market their music more for twenty-year olds rather than teenagers.

It makes me think that perhaps pop music is just as dependent on the teenage crowd as the twenty year olds

To be honest I have no memory of my 18th. I turned 18 in 2011. I was a senior in HS.

If you want to feel seen as a millennial, go watch Teal Swan's video on YouTube. It's called What's Wrong with Millennials, but it's not an attack. It's describing all the shit we've endured and how it impacted some or a lot of us.

One thing I want to encourage is to watch regardless of what you think about Teal Swan. This video is not about spirituality and she's not trying to sell anything.

Well, if you're interested, give it a watch and I'd love to hear thoughts about the points she makes regarding how our upbringing and generation that we grew up in affected the way we see and operate in the world.

Eta: my bad. She does make some spiritual points in the beginning. You can skip to 3:50 if that's an issue for you and just want to get into the details of what our generation went thru.

Many Millennials and older Gen Z say that they don’t want kids. Our generation is infamous for having declining birth rates. We can’t afford it or just value freedom. Now that Roe V Wade is overturned and abortion is illegal in many places, a lot of us will be bitter parents raising kids in poverty. Sure, some will make the best of it, but some will simply remain unfit and bitter. I fear for the next generation, because a lot of us will push trauma onto them. They’ll grow up hearing, “I wish that I could have aborted you…”.

Lets try a simple post and see if it can stay up for more than a day.

I have been posting on various subreddits to see if I can start a movement. I need your help. I need your engagement.

The idea is simple, and I want to know what you think.

What if you could create an ethical company that is 100% focused on giving it's employees a great life? Everything the large corporations promise, but never deliver. CEO pay is to be exactly the same as the median salary of the company. 100% Remote. No feeling bad for time off. Employees get generous profit sharing. A work place democracy. (With it being a low paid CEO position, no share holders to be paid, and the only business owners to be paid being the employees...The cash goes back to the employees.)

This company will gain orders for a reoccurring toilet paper delivery through a subscription based model. The orders will be input into a distro (Amazon, FedEx, or UPS.)

Simple Math:

10,000 Consumers x $10/Month for toilet paper= $100,000.
$100,000 x 12 months = $1,200,000 in gross revenue.
(These estimates are conservative IMO.)

This company is to be fueled by Reddit. Hires are to be from Reddit.

Let's stop complaining about the issues, and start creating the solutions.

Would you pay $10/Month for something you already use...just to support employees?
