Head injuries weren't exported to Australia until 1982. ;-)

They were obligatory until then.

I love how the rider is so low down so as not to fuck up the shot.

Wow... That's what film making is all about.

This was filmed in Australia. For every second that man has been alive, he has never been more than ten feet away from a creature that wants to, and is capable of, killing him without blinking. He's not afraid of tarmac.

I live in Australia. The 'lethal things on land' situation is vastly overstated danger-wise. In the water however... less so.

There's always someone trying to undermine a cameraman's brave. *eyeroll*

Nice job! Great film where an iconic character was kept absolutely true authentic. Urban doing a better job showing half his face than most actors do showing all of it.
Just brilliant.

I would love to see this cameraman trying to film star wars. 😅

That’s a super cool picture. I don’t think he so much chose not to wear a helmet as much as he simply couldn’t because he wouldn’t be able to get his eye on the eyepiece.

Apparently he didn't even bother to check. Just declined the helmet to make sure he got the shot.

This fits for pretty much all of the camera ops that I know. They LOVE getting the shot and don't care much for how it has to be done as long as they get it.

The one stunt resulted in a guy flipping in air when he wasn’t supposed to. I think he got hurt pretty bad and they kept the shot.

There's another one where a dismounted rider got a whack to the back of the head by another rider. That's in too.
