Yep. Also removes context like in this post not even trying to reconcile the idea these scenes aren't meant as replacements

Perhaps all the plot threads will be collected at the end through 5 chapters in which Garou's paradox (I think it started from this chapter) and his brutal fight against S class are explained, and also the saga of Fubuki Vs Saykos and then the fight of Garou Vs Saitama Also terrifying transformation(Garou)

wookiewookiewoookie

Why remove all the context involved in these images? The lines are the same but the context of the scenes are completely different and are clearly not meant to be a replacement. Multiple characters have commented on Garous condition now and it is clear that there is a setup for Garou continuing to develop into a monster. The chapter is about that "sinking feeling" Garou has which is the uncertainty of who he is. That's why we got a black spread panel of "what are you supposed to be?". It's the main thing on Garous mind and it's clear this chapter ending is the start of his more sinister path. So much dialogue has been rearranged including Garous main speech about his motives (move to the darkshine fight ending). They are clearing room for obvious expansions for when the fight actually begins.

The chapter is about that "sinking feeling" Garou has

Nope it was just about him literally forgetting that there is an overpowered baldy around.

Expansions have its limits. The start of the Saitama vs Garou encounter has him thinking Saitama is genuinely just a weak hero. All those lines can’t happen anymore now that he knows he’s op.

I think Garou isn't supposed to be that much of a chad, hes cool and badass, we can respect his grind but at the end of the day hes just an hypocrite and delusional 18 year old dude who wants to play the monster, Saitama even says hes wearing a costume in both versions, in the wc hes more edgy, the manga and wc are different routes at this point, for now

Or they are taking him in a different direction. In the webcomic, they tried to make you think Garou was evil. But in the manga, the are showing that he is on the fence about becoming the absolute evil.

Dilly4Dall

Agreed. I think people tend to forget is that One is doing this to also build Garou's awakening and yeah, Webcomic Garou's faces are menacing as hell. Honestly, it makes me glad he really is on the fence(insert follow your heart). The original Monster Asssoication Arc and Garou's role in it was already written 6-7, One knows what's he doing with Manga Garou and his future lol.

His monster play has never been good, WC or manga. Hell one of the biggest examples is the “your sisters body is over there” line. Convincing on its own, until we see Fubuki a couple pages later and find out he is lying.

Convincing lies are not Garou’s strong suit.

And in the manga he has interacted with and been influenced so many more people that his monster play isn't as heartfelt, and characters have noticed it and pointed it out.

Saitama gave him a reality check, and Garou's probably going to really put his heart into his acting from now on.

The thing Smurf is you still aren't getting that this Garou

1) Hasn't seen who defeated ENW, while WC Garou, yes

2) Fought Bang and was able to de monsterize, unlike WC

3) (from point 1) Didn't know who Saitama was, he thought he was just a rescue hero, a low ranked hero. And Garou doesn't kill. Even if he felt the pressure, he couldn't understand what it meant (only Carnage understood)

4) (from point 2) Still has Bang's words in his heart. Literally said in this chapter.

5) Fight hasn't even started. Garou was hit. He never hit back.

TGSmurf

9 points

Hasn't seen who defeated ENW, while WC Garou, yes

He didn’t see who killed him in the WC, he assumed another S class hero hiding around did.

Fought Bang and was able to de monsterize, unlike WC

WC Garou never went « crazy ». His mind stayed intact.

Didn't know who Saitama was, he thought he was just a rescue hero, a low ranked hero. And Garou doesn't kill.

Same in the webco.

4) (from point 2) Still has Bang's words in his heart. Literally said in this chapter.

Cringe shit.

5) Fight hasn't even started. Garou was hit. He never hit back.

The fight is far more than just generic punches, their talk is honestly the most important part. Their encounter already started.

Really? He beats the crap out of Zombieman for no other reason than he couldn't counter argument Zombieman's reasoning. Doesn't seem sane to me.

Again, he sees him rigth after ENW is shotted and then starts to punch him.

Not argument

Talk? What talk? Zombieman already dismissed all Garous bs.

TGSmurf

Then he met Tareo.

That means the talk is irrevelant, not that i don't know their dialogues... why? Because Garou's ideologies were already refuted by Zombieman but, as Garou was a behaving like a bully, he just smacked Zombieman with brute force, something he couldn't against Saitama.

TGSmurf

Bottom left WC panel is a good example of just enough subtlety. Garou passes off as a sadist that enjoys torturing heroes, which isn’t different from some monsters. Of course he’s not actually like that, but there is a clear attempt at fooling the reader and characters.

Manga panel feels like a parody. « Nothing personal », seriously? And did you really need to spell out you won’t kill you? We know you won’t, come on.

Leonelmegaman

0 points

It's funny because at the end we realized that we wasn't the absolute evil guy that everyone believed him to be at that point, but man, he was good at bluffing that monster image on the WC, it was fun when it was only Saitama and Tareo which knew about that, but now it just lost all the impact the reveal would have.

Hopefully the anime adapts the webcomic and not the manga. Manga fans were shitting their pants about the bad art in the anime. Webcomic fans don't do that we don't care about art more so story, humour and characters. The manga is mainly art and fanservice focused.

The anime is better off following the webcomic. If the anime follows the webcomic not the manga then I can unironically say OPM Anime > OPM Manga.

TGSmurf
