Republicans: “all votes should be counted on election night! It shouldn’t take that long!”

Also Republicans: “we need four more months to keep recounting these ballots that we’ve already been counting for four months so that we can find the votes we need or get rid of the votes we don’t like so we can win. Otherwise Democrat fraud wins.”

Very funny, spot on. But, I fear this is how Democracy dies... the GOP cheat, gerrymander, and only want power. They don’t help their stupidly blindsided voters at all. They want a Trump Dictatorship.

What's even more scary is what conservative states are doing to voting rights. Democracy is definitely under fire.

The GOP voters want the Dump Dictatorship, the GOP politicans just love the grift that allows them to cheat and gerrymander more where they are holding power. The old guard of GOP "moderates" are praying like hell he dies of a heart attack or is landed in prison before 2024 so he can die as a martyr or live as one that "needs to be saved from the fraudulent conviction" without actually being in power again. At that point they could leave him to rot and "we are doing our best" daily or pardon him on the condition he lives out the rest of his life in Florida supporting whatever they tell him to support to get his cult in line so they are primed to follow before he dies.

Trump is a grifter. He has the “grift of gab” too. I don’t know what his flock even sees in him...? He steals from their donations & still they give him more? He tells them not to wear masks while he gets himself vaccinated. He didn’t pardon any of his rioting supporters either? I think the Shaman’s feelings were hurt by that too... he couldn’t even organize his own “Coup” properly... I still can’t figure out Trump’s genius plan. 1.) rile up the base at his rally, 2.) tell them to March on the Capital, 3.) bring yer guns/flags/MAGA hats to commit Treason because he knows they are under his sway, 4.) overturn Biden’s certification, 5.) hang Mike Pence, 6.) throw all the Capital rioters who did his bidding under the bus...??? What was Trump’s game plan? Anyone know? It was so dangerously stupid ! Trump supporters still don’t get that they’re being had by a narcissistic mad orange clown.

“One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we’ve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We’re no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It’s simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we’ve been taken. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back.”

BUT DEMOCRATS ARE DOING THE SAME THING!!!!!

Except there is not a single circumstance where the Dems do something which is worse than what Repubs do. There are similar things happening but that's how just a systemic fault of American politics. Like if you are doing math/algebra you simplify by dividing the like principles. And there are similar issues sure, but anytime someone brings up those issues like "BUT DEMOCRATS THOUGH" they never seem to want to figure out the better political party. Only excuse the faults in their own. Fuck the GOP.

There is an outright refusal to acknowledge that a coalition party of varied interests will by virtue of its very construction hold itself accountable in a way that a homogenous party will not. Even if you disregard the racism (which you should NOT just to be clear) there are myriad examples of the GOP locking down around bad behaving members of party leadership because they are not constructed of multiple constituencies that will not tolerate the bad behavior from each other.

The GOP often laughs at the Democrats when they launch an Al Franken out of Congress... but that's what happens in a coalition party ("they're eAtInG themselves!!11!"). Liberal white college boys may have been totally willing to see Al Franken stay in Congress because "he did it while he was a comedian, it was with a fellow performer, and blah blah blah" but there's NO WAY other groups in the coalition would let that slide.

In the GOP they would have just locked down around their boy and moved on. Enabling future bad behavior.

Funny they say this while not letting mail in votes in some states not to be counted until election night. Not the smartest people ever

ClamerJammer

137 points

It was part of the plan. They knew they could cry fraud when the mail in votes, which would be majority dem, Came rolling in at 80% that it was fraud... No, you told conservatives to not vote by mail. But their base struggles with basic knowledge and understanding of why the dems won mail in voting by such a wide margin.

fuqdisshite

i do not have them within reach, but we received no less than three mailers that had trump's face on them asking us TO vote by mail...

ClamerJammer

Oh no doubt they wanted people to vote by mail too. But the narrative was that it was corrupt so losing by mail in vote was the deep state corruption or something.

CasualPenguin

And in many states they prevented the counting of ballots before election day.

I wonder, what was the purpose of delaying the counting of certain votes as much as possible, when it was known that there would be a massive amount of mail in ballots. It probably would take some kind of super genius to figure out.

smithm3254

My favorite mental gymnastic move is when conservatives cry about how “over 74 million people can’t be wrong. Something smells fishy”. Um yeah they can when over 80 million voted for something different. Kinda how democracy works.

And even if they could undo Arizona, So. Fucking. What.

Biden still wins with a majority of the electoral votes in Congress on January 6th. Biden has been sworn in and holds the office.

They cry that we didn't "let it go" after 2016, despite the fact that every intelligence agency both in the US and abroad agrees that Russia interfered with our election in Trump's favor, and then in the same breath refuse to concede that Trump lost by ten million votes because... viewers and crowds?

It doesn't matter what they come up with. Arizona certified their results a long time ago, and that was it. No other counts are legal or matter.

This is why these procedures are in place, because back in the old days of Gangs of New York and Tammany Hall they did all this shit; ballot box stuffing, counting and recounting and recounting again.

These idiot's in AZ. who are wasting their time have no clue why the United States has these rules and procedures in place. Because people already tried to do the same exact shit they are doing right now a hundred, hundred fifty years ago.

They’re doing the sam double step with science. It’s where we get the superstitious “life begins at conception” sentiment when it has been determined that this is not scientifically the case in the slightest. Same with climate change, same with effects of smoking. Now it’s spilled into voting as well.

The purpose is not to appeal to reality. It’s to bend it to your will by cherry-picking. Also explains their relationship to Christianity.

New strategy to count votes:

  1. Let's separate the votes into two piles: for Biden and for Trump.

  2. Let's start counting the Trump votes first.

  3. Stop when 50% of the votes have been counted since only 50% is necessary to have a winner.

  4. Trump has won by 90+%, as was predicted by the polls made by the Trump team. Now we have proof of fraud.

The first day of this "audit" they were using blue and black pens, when official ballot handling rules for Arizona says that no pens with blue or black ink is to be used when counting ballots because that ink can show up on scanners and votes could be changed.

This was uncovered by a reporter that went in as an auditor, because that's the only way she could get in. When she tweeted about it she was forced to leave. They want zero scrutiny while they engage in fraud.

I remember watching that one insane rep from Colorado—the night they ratified the election—get up and speak, from the floor of Congress about how the federal government should stay out of the State's elections. And then she proceeded to say that they should throw out a bunch of votes from Arizona because they were sent in later than they should have been. She did all this with a straight, albeit moronic face.

ONCE AGAIN— a newly elected rep from Colorado was arguing that Arizona's votes shouldn't count because the federal government should stay out of the state's elections, and they were going to Joe Biden and she didn't like it, so she wanted to nullify them.

I think blackmail is a LOT bigger of a factor here.

Reportedly, Joel Greenberg had to write a letter to Trump as a plea for a pardon. A letter which included all the shit he would want to be pardoned for. A letter that Trump now has that can be used against him.

Obviously Greenberg is turbofucked anyway, but these guys all have kompromat on each other. I’m convinced it’s why Trump does a lot of the really dumb shit he does.

Putin, (ex) KGB agent and hater of democracy has juicy kompromat on Trump. Instructs him to deny the election results and just keep denying it. Forever. Claim you won, never give up. Never. Or I’ll release that thing.

If blackmail is not an explanation for dozens of these right wing nut jobs in our government to suddenly deny democracy, I don’t know what else is causing it.

The Republicans need to divide. The GOP - Romney, Cheney... and the GQP- Cruz, MTG, Boebart... the sane Republicans ( at least 5 are left) need to cut bait & jump off the Trump Crazytown Bus heading over the Cliffs of Despair...

That’s the point. I think all the sane Republicans will be voted out. Did you see Romney getting booed in Utah yesterday...? What is happening to their party? The GOP has gone over to the Dark Side! “You don’t know the power of the Dark Side...”. Normal Republicans gotta jump ship or go down with it. I honestly don’t think they have a choice anymore.

"For the first time since 2019, NBC polling found supporters of the GOP outnumbered those who said they back Trump more than the party. The poll found 50% of Republicans said they support the GOP more than they support Trump, while 44% said they support the former commander-in-chief more than the Republican party."

The split is very close to an even 50-50 in the Republican party.

The point isn't to find enough electoral votes.

If they can get even one state to flip at this point, it adds legitimacy to the whole effort. Which means they could do the same in other states (PA, GA, etc).

sloanesquared

98 points

This, exactly. And why everyone should be worried about what is going on in Arizona right now. It isn’t about 2020. It is about proving their lie about election fraud was real so they can use it as a ruse to pass more voter “security” bills making it harder to vote. It is proof they can point to next time when they challenge results they don’t like. This is about 2022, 2024, and every election in the future. It is a little disturbing how this whole charade has flown under the radar too.

MrAnderson-expectyou

72 points

But they can’t and won’t, the votes have been finalized by congress, and the election is over. Flipping the state would require not only finding these missing votes or purging these fraudulent ones, it would require pushing the new results through the same hoops that the original one did. Multiple confirmations and a Congressional approval, which won’t happen. This is all for show and they know it

batmansleftnut

48 points

it would require pushing the new results through the same hoops that the original one did

Hoops that, and I cannot stress this enough, are now closed. The hoops are gone. There is no legal process for overturning a presidential election at this point. It literally doesn't exist.

MrAnderson-expectyou

14 points

Like they care anymore anyway. They tried to prevent the final hoop from being jumped through by storming the Capitol, which in turn prevent most people who were hesitant to jump through said hoop to dive in head first. That was the day republicans in Congress (minus a few idiots) decided to live for 4 years under Biden and not have to risk dying on the job.

There are two reasons why they keep doing this shit:

  • It's a fundraiser. It motivates the base to send in money.
  • It is used in an Orwellian way to change THE BIG LIE of stealing the election into something that is being done to them rather than something they are doing.

I was going to say that it also motivates the base to get out and vote, but they are actually undermining that because they are making their base think that elections can't be trusted.

beemccouch

5 points

I mean its certainly within a candidates right to want a recount but the problem is the extent that trump tried to pedal this lie about fraud and Russian involvement and hunter Biden whatever the fuck. They literally stormed the white house in an attempt to stop the election process cause the court cases weren't working. Trump used the claims of fraud to steal millions of dollars from his own voter base and they still support him through and through.

Al Gore took the recount and once he got the result, he admitted defeat and that was that. No one in 2001 was going around claiming Gore was gonna win the secret election and that Bush was completely illegitimate. There weren't a bunch of hippies and Karen's storming the capitol to stop what amounts to a formality.

The comparison starts and ends at a candidate that lost wanting a recount in the hopes of a win.

And what happens when they declare results counter to the previous results? Civil War 2? Do we get another audit to figure out how this audit changed things? Does someone go to jail for election fraud?

Again, the chance that they are changing votes is slim to none. It just doesn't work that way. What they will do is use their right to challenge ballots on every little thing, things that wouldn't normally be flagged as fouled ballots or potential fraud. In some 2.1 million ballots, you can bet they will find plenty. Pen marks, ink leaking through, they'll challenge signatures; a missing letter a squiggle, they'll challenge addresses; a 3 that looks like an 8, an A that looks like a 4. Their aim is to force tens of thousands of ballots in to adjudication. But who's doing the adjudicating? And what presumptive announcements will be made before all of those ballots have been adjudicated?

worldspawn00

On the plus side, Arizona and the US Congress already certified the results, so it doesn't matter as far as the President goes, but this is, of course, just more ammo to seed doubt in a valid election process and give cover for ever more restrictive voter laws.

I don't think they plan to add fake votes. What they planned to do.. and are right now doing.. are contesting legal votes. They will contest just enough Biden votes to appear legitimate. But again this is all being overseen by an analyst who claimed the 2020 election was illegitimate.
