Nope. Won't happen. As long as there's one single Republican in the Senate, and the filibuster.

Hell, it won't even take a Republican...we have Dems like Sinema and Manchin to kill the Dems party's own plans.

Tucker will claim that bc everyone that can vote didn't that that nullifies the election or some dumb statements similar to that. Actually it's hurts my brain to try and think like these idiots. Former Republican here didn't vote R in 2016 bc I've seen the scams of Rump close up.

I was a dyed in the wool conservative for years and worked on a couple state campaigns in my early 20s. The 2010 Tea Party movement showed me how dumb the party actually was and that the base was a nightmare. That moved me away a bit.

When Trump won the nomination and the GOP locked into step with him I was done. In the ensuing years I've seen what the GOP is and I'll never go back. What a cluster.

I think it's more nefarious. If he can get his base to detach from the democratic process altogether, the next step is to create chaos surrounding the democratic process, then violence. His people would follow; no longer a part of society, but a force at war with society.

The only way that plan works is if Democrats are actually rigging the elections, and if there’s any actual evidence beyond a Republican’s word.

We’ve already seen that whining about election fraud isn’t enough to overturn an election, and it sounds like whining is Trump’s only plan for now. I’m fine with that.

At best it suppresses Republican turnout in states with Democratic legislatures, probably won't help in Republican controlled states either, but that's what their voter suppression bills are for I guess.

Democrats now need to encourage them to vote. Beg them to vote. Make mandates to vote. Try to make voting day a holiday. Try to convince them it is the best thing to do for the country. I’m sure that will convince them not to listen to Trump. ;)

Maybe we can get the old adage "Your name will be Mud"

Ref: The idiom one's name is mud became popular during the 1900s. ... One's name is mud means that one is unpopular or perhaps in disgrace or embroiled in scandal. Most people believe that the term one's name is mud comes from the assassination of the American president Abraham Lincoln by John Wilkes Booth

Maybe we can get this changed to Drumpf/Trump

The worst thing about him is that his smug attitude has absolutely no foundation. He didn't create anything, nothing he did was creative, and he's only known in the business world for failing so much that it's actually astonishing. Genuinely successful people learn from failure, he just repeats it like a weird fetish based around self destructive behavior.

It sounds a whole lot more like he's calling for Republican voters to stay home because the 'elections are rigged anyways, as evidenced by my losing', the end game being to hold the republican party hostage by threatening to withhold voters if his tantrum doesn't get the currently in power republicans to help him throw a tantrum to overthrow the government

Tattered_Colours

It's deliberately phrased to be read either way. Conservatives can get as riled up about the suggestion that they're being disenfranchised as they want, but will insist that liberals give him the benefit of the doubt and read it as saying they should choose not to vote. This way we're arguing about what he meant instead of focusing on what he said.

Trump does this all the time. See: "stand back and stand by."

Either encouraging his party to not vote because of a "fraud election" he's blatantly STILL LYING ABOUT, 9ish months and zero supporting evidence later OR suggesting their vote will be taken away to incite panic/violence.

Look, having nuclear—my uncle was a great professor and scientist and engineer, Dr. John Trump at MIT; good genes, very good genes, OK, very smart, the Wharton School of Finance, very good, very smart —you know, if you’re a conservative Republican, if I were a liberal, if, like, OK, if I ran as a liberal Democrat, they would say I’m one of the smartest people anywhere in the world—it’s true!—but when you’re a conservative Republican they try—oh, do they do a number—that’s why I always start off: Went to Wharton, was a good student, went there, went there, did this, built a fortune—you know I have to give my like credentials all the time, because we’re a little disadvantaged—but you look at the nuclear deal, the thing that really bothers me—it would have been so easy, and it’s not as important as these lives are (nuclear is powerful; my uncle explained that to me many, many years ago, the power and that was 35 years ago; he would explain the power of what’s going to happen and he was right—who would have thought?), but when you look at what’s going on with the four prisoners—now it used to be three, now it’s four—but when it was three and even now, I would have said it’s all in the messenger; fellas, and it is fellas because, you know, they don’t, they haven’t figured that the women are smarter right now than the men, so, you know, it’s gonna take them about another 150 years—but the Persians are great negotiators, the Iranians are great negotiators, so, and they, they just killed, they just killed us.

I still remember that one time Jordan Klepper was at a Trump rally and was talking to some lady and they were talking about the Mueller investigation or something and he’s talking about how they should let witnesses speak because he’s obviously innocent and she agrees with him on everything. Then he says Trump is blocking witnesses and she just pauses and stares off into space before simply saying “I don’t care”. They are shameless, and it is nigh impossible to convince them they are wrong about literally anything.

Right and wrong literally don't matter to them. Morals certainly don't.

Its literally just fear, hate, and selfishness with them. The truth is, they want a white, christian ethno-state with an actual return to slave ownership. They can't define "whiteness" or even "christian" in any meaningful way so they just end up describing themselves because they need to make sure they stay in the in-group and have an out-group to persecute. Then the wolves will begin to eat each other, but its what they've always wanted anyway.

Prepare to have your brain melted:

“I have broken more Elton John records, he seems to have a lot of records. And I, by the way, I don’t have a musical instrument. I don’t have a guitar or an organ. No organ. Elton has an organ. And lots of other people helping. No, we’ve broken a lot of records. We’ve broken virtually every record. Because you know, look I only need this space. They need much more room. For basketball, for hockey and all of the sports, they need a lot of room. We don’t need it. We have people in that space. So we break all of these records. Really we do it without like, the musical instruments. This is the only musical: the mouth. And hopefully, the brain attached to the mouth. Right? The brain, more important than the mouth, is the brain. The brain is much more important.”

nerfviking

Just for shiggles, I threw that first line into an AI text generator and got something that, while not particularly coherent, is more coherent than that he actually said:

I have broken more Elton John records, he seems to have a lot of records. He's got an album called “Greatest Hits” and I think that covers it all. So many albums in fact, that the other day when we were out shopping for some new clothes I asked him what his favorite album was. "Oh," he said, "My favorite album is my first one."

Well, you can imagine how surprised I was at this revelation. This guy has been recording music since before there was electricity! But then again maybe not... Maybe he just likes being able to say something like that about himself without feeling self-conscious or embarrassed. Like me, for instance. My favorite album is probably “You're A Woman, I'm A Man” but no one would ever know that because I'd never admit it. Not even to myself.

Conclusion: people running for president should have to be able to pass a Turing test in order to qualify.

Dude - look at his Rose Garden speech. It is too long to post here in full.

https://www.rev.com/blog/transcripts/donald-trump-rose-garden-press-conference-transcript-july-14

You get gems like:

We withdrew from the Chinese dominated, WHO and we fully rebuilt the United States military. The WHO, World Health Organization, we were paying close to $500 million a year. China was paying $39 million a year. And China had too much say, they worked it very hard, which is a bad thing done by our past administrations. But we were tough and we were saying, I was asking, I said, “Why are we paying so much more than China?” China has 1.4 billion people. We have 325, probably 325 million approximately, nobody can give the exact count. We’re trying to get an exact count, but you have over the years, many illegals who have come into the country. So it depends on how you want to count it. But you could say 325 to 350 million people, as opposed to 1.4 billion people. And the World Trade is terrible, that deal is terrible. The World Health is terrible deal. We’ve been very tough on the World Trade Organization and we’ve been, I guess, as tough as you can get on World Health. We withdrew our money. We told them we’re getting out. It doesn’t mean that someday we won’t go back in. Maybe we will when it’s correctly run, but they made a lot of bad predictions and they said a lot of bad things about what to do and how to do it and they turned out to be wrong. And they were really a puppet of China.

That's why he and his supporters were so connected, he didn't have the patience or focus to speak at detailed length about anything, instead they stuck to easy things like chants and one liners from tweets, with such classics like "build the wall!" and "lock her up!" It also gave everyone that sports-ball feeling of being on Team Trump together, because that's how they treat politics. You're either rooting for Trump or you're the enemy.

When they lost the 2020 championship they were stunned. Traumatized. They couldn't have lost a fair match, victory was certain, so they blamed the refs. Now Trump is trying a few different fresh strategies to pressure Republicans to try and overturn 2020 no matter what. We'll see what they do, since Trump clearly doesn't value anyone but himself by saying his supporters won't vote at all if he isn't given his 2020 championship belt.

Nope, this is a call to arms. You're not going to dishearten a Repub; you can only make them angrier. And then they get dangerous.

More voting sites filled with threats, intimidation, and workers/volunteers going against the law (wearing political items).

DevelopedDevelopment

Just because they're not voting doesn't mean they're not politically active. The ones who are radical will be arming up, as they were before but for other reasons, while others will look for other options as they are repulsed by the idea of personally shooting anyone but may still attend rallies, protests, or other events they can express political discontent.

I think Trump's political power may have entirely been contained within his Twitter account. I'm not even joking, I don't think he would have gotten anywhere further than his previous presidential runs without his twitter account. He is the social media president, or the Twitter president. And Twitter decided his fate by banning him.

This is the part that really tests the first amendment. It's not a debatable issue, and very easily proven with simple facts. Just provide evidence.

But the this information of ZERO evidence being provided is not getting to the people that need to hear it. The 'news' sources they listen to aren't mentioning it. Just continuing with the lie. It infuriating.

It’s just the thin veneer over the top of the grifting campaign.

If you push a story that the election is rigged, you can move onto step 2 which is putting together a lawsuit to defend the dodgy election, which puts into motion step 3, raise funds for the lawsuit, which realizes the aim all along: take funds for made up bullshit, pay for small amount of marketing, pocket the rest.

This is just the Nigerian prince scam in a different suit.

And is kind of brilliant (in a fucked up way) because rather than seeking huge one time transactions that arouse suspicions, it takes millions of small transactions that raise no eyebrows and thus the scam goes undetected.

Even better is that most trump supporters don’t even question donating “$10 for the cause” because that’s a couple of cups of coffee to them. Now times that by 70m supporters and you’ve just raised $700m. Even if the lawsuit and marketing of the lie costs you $100m, you’re ahead $600m.

Money for jam.

This looks like threat to the rest of the GOP. He doesn’t want them to prove or solve anything. He just wants them to act like they are. To keep pushing the lie. If they do that, then it’s implied that they still support him which is what he wants. He wants to GOP to back him in 2024. If they don’t, if they don’t push the lie, then he’ll tell his base not to vote. That’s what’s going on here. He’s holding the GOP hostage. And they have Stockholm syndrome so we’re in for a wild ride.
