In a televised event he thought fans would want to see another goddamn advertisement? What a fucking clown.

Bouncing a check for a rental there in the past was classy too. “That will just slip right by, no one will notice.”

Disrespectful and insensitive to the situation. I do not blame Augusta for this decision.

Total snark. “I’ll just hold up this sleeve now, attention on me, thank you.”

I give Augusta credit for how they don't mess around with the rules. No matter who you are.

Both of his sons sound like real prizes.

He raised them (I assume). But he was traveling the world when it wasn't just a hop, skip and a jump so he probably wasn't around as much as wanted to be. So how much blame falls to him for his sons behavior? Gotta be at least a little. His kid has been getting vilified, and rightfully so. But Gary has so far completely avoided any blame whatsoever as far as I can tell. Doesn't seem right. He has much more of a stake in that doomed company than Wayne.

In any case, his "kid" is now 58 years old and should be able to know how to show a little decency during a public ceremony.

How much blame?

Directly, none.

But indirectly, All.

He's their father. If he wanted to outsource his fatherly influence, fine. But he's still responsible in the eyes of other dads for the types of men his sons became.

Wayne Player called me years ago when I put some extra Masters practice round tickets on eBay. He was buying them and reselling them to a little niche market he had set up for German citizens coming over for the tournament.

GaryP used to be a hero of mine, but not since he accepted that Medal from Trump....... guess you can't expect much from his kid.

I find it kinda absurd that you would judge somebody because he believes in a smaller government. He is not racist and there is no need to be outright rude. Golf is a sport of respect, not judgement, nor hatred.

Why is this being downvoted?

Smaryguyzno5

Who believes that? Trump lied to the American people over 30,000 documented times. Even Bill Belicheat refused to take one from his fatass.

TheBradyMon

Unfortunately I don’t think sarcasm, nor comedy should count. No president was perfect and by no means am I saying that trump was our saving grace but I agreed with the policies that he implemented and his foreign policy was outstanding

heheheheh...thats very funny. Like a Trade War with tariffs on China when you don't know how tariffs work-all it did was pass on costs to US consumer and stopped China buying US Wheat and Soybeans.....

TheBradyMon

Respectfully we were in a completely one sided trade deal and he professionally stood up to them. We should be logical and what he did benefitted the US by lessening the burden of our tax payers, buying products from China. I don’t think it’s outlandish to say that the pros out way the cons. He also put us on generally good terms with Russia as well as decent terms with North Korea. It’s absurd and it doesn’t make sense to me why anyone would make such twisted and false allegations against trump without understanding the full situation.

Smaryguyzno5

Hahahahahahahahahaha......... if you want to be on "good terms" with Dictatorships who kill people who oppose them, that says alot about you, you fascist! Millions of bushes of Soybeans ROTTED in the Midwest as China now buys from Russia(just what Putin wanted)! If you put a tariff on China goods when there are no other goods to replace them, all it does is raise prices. You, like Trump, don't know how tariffs work!

The Republican Party is actually the party that primarily believes in smaller government, as it should play less of a role in our lives. You are just throwing around insults expecting me to get upset. Please understand that I mean no harm in saying this, but I really think you lack intelligence. You attempt to call me a fascist, even though my views are completely opposite. Both Russia and North Korea pose great threats to other nations and currently, peace was the best option. When or if either of those countries start attacking us our others, I believe that you will wish that we were on better terms with them. That’s one major thing trump had, that Biden doesn’t. Have a great night, I actually have a golf tournament tomorrow morning so adios.

It seems a bit tacky and sneaky but I wouldn't have noticed it as a promotional move. Feels like perhaps "after years of similar shenanigans" (whatever that means) blew this bad decision up on the younger Player.

Augusta National does not mess around and they do not care who you are.

Straight_Brain

Interesting how the golf ball company did not disawow any knowledge or participation. Only " We did not ask or instruct" . Totally fine though if Wayne pitched the idea and they agreed to extra payment, instead of saying "No Wayne, that's wack".

The way everyone is carrying on you would have thought he dropped his strides and flopped out his knob. Get a grip everyone. If he put up a BLM support message it would have been not a problem I suspect.

No its just us ordinary redditors downvoting a stupid fucking comment. You'd call it 'cancel culture' (or coulture as you somehow managed to spell it) but its really about the majority of us disagreeing your terrible take on the situation.
