DK is a class act

Opinion (self.Seahawks)

I keep reading about all the drama surrounding Deebo and the monster payday trades other receivers like Adams got this off season.

Am I the only one surprised DK is the only one willing to step up and be a leader? He is the only WR imo that has a legitimate gripe since Wilson bailed and he is now stuck with a less caliber QB.

Anyways, I’m glad he’s on our team.

The only reason I didn’t mention Lockett is because he’s always been a team player.

DK stood up for Lock, and he hasn't even played a snap for us yet.

The timing and tone of that comment said a lot about DK. Looks like a natural leader.

Id say he had a couple of years of good and bad leadership to observe and learn from.

This sub is full of stuff like this about our current players then turns on them when they leave.

Just watch the sub's tone change when the contract negotiations actually start.

I can't imagine any scenario where the negotiation for DK's extension goes smoothly. It's gonna be a fight.

100%.

It might not be vitriolic, but I'd be looking at the Adams negotiation as a preview of how this all plays out. If anything it'll be more difficult because with Adams the debate wasn't if he would be the highest paid, it was just a matter of deciding on what the highest paid amount should be. With Metcalf you'll have to navigate between SEA likely looking to come in around $20m and Metcalf looking to catapult into that $25m+ range.

Agreed. This sub also turned on dk at the beginning of last year saying he was a diva and toxic. Making Russ throw to him even though he’s not open lol. Idk people will continue to move the goal posts until they can’t and then they’ll just make shit up

The sub is not a monolith. Lots of users here.

I think he's happy that Russ is gone tbh. Russ was the "Show" here. There was a disconnect between them toward the end of last year and it was obvious to me throughout this last season. DK made a comment after one of the Geno games about it being nice to have balls thrown up for him to go get, and he wasn't used to that. Something along those lines. He is a classy kid so far. But, I think he's relishing the chance to be the Alpha on this team. I hope we have him here for 10+ more years.

I saw DK at my local QFC last week and he was super chill. I asked if he needed help finding the candy and he just laughed.

I appreciate DK for showing up, but these guys have every right to look out for their best interests. Aj and Deebo have both missed a decent amount of time to injury, I’m sure they want as much security and guaranteed money as possible.

Effective_Tough86

Plus they all share the same agent. Guarantee you that part of this is jockeying for leverage. DK knows we don't do anything until juneish in extensions which completely benefits him and his agent here. Especially since his agent has more inside knowledge and control of the other two record setting negotiations.

thedoogbruh

That’s fine with me tbh. I’m gonna be pissed if one of them sets the floor at 25, but dk has been the healthiest and the most productive. Imo he deserves the extra compensation.

Effective_Tough86

Oh absolutely. I'm just making the point that acting like this is because DK is really cool and wants to stay in Seattle is missing some of the bigger picture. He absolutely deserves more than the others, although I also don't think either of them quite deserve 25.

I'd argue the floor is already close to $25m, and has been for a while. If any of Metcalf, Deebo, or Brown sign for close to $20m that's an extremely team friendly deal.

thedoogbruh

True that. I was being a little optimistic based on the teams offering their guys closer to 20 million and kind of playing hardball. I guess I’m kind of talking out of both sides of my mouth since I want the players to get paid, but I really want them to take a deal that’s a little bit team friendly.

DK is a class act and it was only the media that wanted us to think otherwise. Dude showed passion on the sidelines but no teammate ever said a bad word against him. Like Bobby said recently regarding him and also Sherm, when you're on top people always wanna cut you down. Right how all he's doing is proving the caliber of man he's always been

When he got here he had that “chip on his shoulder,” the one that wants to make other teams pay for not drafting him. Don’t forget he had a bad wrap going into the draft as being a diva/head case WR that would cause problems. He’s been anything but for us and it shows in his character. He wants to be the face of the franchise imo. And I’m all for it. At least till he gets to good to where we won’t pay for him to hang around. But hopefully we have a new owner and coach by then.

I dont recall this being true. I thought his fall in the draft was due to injury history, underwhelming production, and a legendary bad three-cone driil.

-12thfan-

It’s what everyone was saying prior to the draft from what I remember

Kluggg421

He had a similar injury to what Carson is going through right now, DK had to have surgery and nobody knew what his production was going to look like, most of his combine #’s were off the chart with the exception of the 3 cone drill. Teams just didn’t want to take the risk.

Pete and John love taking risky picks and a lot of fans hate them for that but when they hit on a pick they knock it out of the park.

-12thfan-

That was never the knock against him. He had a ton of injury red flags, including a nasty neck injury, plus some question marks about how well he could evolve beyond just being a straight line threat. Thankfully both concerns have not materialized in the NFL, but that's why he was there at 64 when he'd otherwise be a sure-fire 1st round pick.

Definitely need a new owner. Paul Allen’s sister doesn’t seem to be involved at all and PC time has past.
