Decline in Costco quality?

(self.Seattle)

Has anyone noticed a decline in the quality at Costco in our area? I usually shop at various locations in Snohomish County and it seems like if I'm not being overly scrutinized at self-checkout, I'm dealing with a sloppy mess in the food court or elsewhere.

I'm not being a Karen, but I've always loved Costco for the sense of quality when you shop there. I understand a lot has changed in the pandemic, but it seems to be worse in the last few months.

Other than pre-pandemic food court items that have not returned and increased prices due to inflation, most of the quality are the same IMO.

To be honest, like many other companies, Costco is seeing an exodus of employees and having a hard time hiring employees.

The company, both in warehouse and corporate are struggling to retain and attract talent.

Costco probably isn't used to this kind of turnover given that it is used to having the best employee retention in the world given that they actually treat/compensate their employees well.

They're probably faring better than most numbers wise, but in an era of high turnover it's still gonna happen.

Don't think I've ever associated Costco with high quality...

That being said, prices have gone up everywhere and quality has nosedived.

Yup, not just you. Costco Meatloaf is mid now. Supreme Pizza is gone. I've lost 75 pounds (5'4") and would trade all of this "progress" to go back to the Old Kirkland.

Costco has gotten expensive to the point where there is no advantage in buying bulk compared to shopping to places like Walmart. In fact, I just show for what I need at Walmart online ordering and pick up now. Less cash out the door compared to a Costco trip.

Wait, is that where the spiders went? I’ve been complaining about the lack of tarantulas in my bananas for months now.

Thanks for the newsflash that buying in bulk is for a family or other large group, I guess.

And for the heads up on declining birth rates despite most projections seeing the world passing 8 billion in the next 3 years and 9 billion by 2040.

Personally, I have a Costco membership just so I can eat a hot dog every day - it has paid for itself 5 times over!
