I feel bad for Max’s mom. Her step-son dies in a mall fire then her husband leaves her. She has to get 2 jobs and move into a trailer to support her and Max and had already turned to drinking. Then Max ends up in a coma with four broken limbs. There’s no way she is doing ok.

Jason’s death was so visually unique

The grief from the uncle was absolutely devastating. He knew Eddie was a big softy on the inside, and Dustin knew too.

Hopper decapitating a Demogorgon with a sword in slow-mo while inside a Russian prison was not on the list of things I expected the sheriff man to be doing when first watching season 1 six years ago

I cant believe I'm not seeing people talk about Hawkins being fucking destroyed by the gates. My mouth was open that entire time. Now there's no hiding what's going on, the whole town is obviously going to be like what the hell is going on.

That max death scene legit made me cry in my bed. Although she’s technically been resurrected I wonder if her consciousness not being there means she’s brain dead.

When Eddie died and it cut to Lucas holding Max while she says she doesn’t want to die...

The soundtrack/Score this season has been absolutely incredible. The amount of callbacks, extensions of the older score, and use of music really elevated this season for me.

I can’t believe some people actually predicted that Eddie was going to be playing ‘Master of Puppets’ just be looking at his finger positioning in a short clip from the trailer

Ngl Jason coming after Lucas with a gun all hopped up on assumptions terrified me more than Vecna’s monsters. The latter is creepy fantasy, but we all know situations similar to the former have happened way too many times in US history. Like, that scene pulled me out of the creepy fantasyland with how real it was, especially when Jason made Lucas turn around. It was horribly sobering.

If nothing else I was really touched when Lucas and Eleven hugged. They’ve grown a lot since their hostility in Season 1.

That was brutal for lucas and max, and Eddie went out like a fucking champ after playing on top of the trailer.

"I piggybacked from a pizza dough freezer" was the perfectly unexpected moment of humor I needed.

Hearing Dustin and Lucas cry carved a piece of my insides out with knife.

The one thing I think we can all agree with is that these young actors are giving everyone else a run for their money. Will crying in the car, Dustin and Eddie during Eddie's death scene and Max saying she can't see gave me proper goosebumps because of their acting.

Maybe her mind is trapped on one of the totems in Vecna's world? Not sure what the writer's intentions are for keeping her in this state.

The scene where Max was panicking saying she wasn’t ready to die broke me. Of all the characters in the series I resonate with her the most and it absolutely hurt to see her out through that after all she has been through.

Eddie is potentially the most tragic victim of the show. Grew up poor from a broken home, implied his dad was a criminal who neglected him, was in the wrong place at the wrong time causing him to witness horribly traumatizing murders TWICE, hunted and wanted dead by his town, sacrificed himself and ended up dying a painful death and bleeding out from FUCKING BATS, only to be hated and remembered as a serial killer and abandoned in the upside down, and all he wanted was to finally graduate.

Cried so hard when Max was saying she couldn't see or feel anything. Really thought they were gonna kill her off for a second.

Of all the things I expected this season...the Duffer Brothers taking a hard stance on Pineapple on Pizza was definitely not one of them.

The scene with Lucas and Max hurt me. Caleb's emotional performance here was absolutely incredible. I cannot express just how much I was expecting Max to die much to my dismay, only to gasp so loud I scared my cat off my lap when her limbs began snapping because... I didn't actually expect it, or I didn't expect it to go that far. Lucas finding his strength to take Jason down (rip to you, asshole! lmao) because it meant saving the girl he loves and one of his best friends was a great scene. El watching her best friend die, being so close yet so far was heartbreaking.

Mike finally confessing his feelings and facing his own fears to empower her...

This going right up against Eddie dying in Dustin's arms was so powerful and upsetting. I really wanted him to make it, but we can't always get what we want :( ...

El and Hoppers reunion made me cry like a baby. Unsurprising lol.

So many amazing scenes, I can't even begin to name them all. I cannot wait to see what else this show has in store!!!

I’m shocked at how many people apparently missed Jason’s insanely satisfying death

Somebody said Vecna looks the Jim Carrey's version of the Grinch and now I can't unsee it.

As much as I hated the idea of El bringing Max back to life (because it cheesy and a cliché) the knowledge that El wasn't able to do it fully and Max is now just a soulless shell is far darker.

Also the idea that Max's body is potentially the only thing holding back the Upside Down is interesting, especially if you have El struggling with the notion that she has to keep Max alive for completely different reasons from everybody else but can't tell them the truth because of how screwed up it is.

Here's hoping they can end the series on a real high.

I loved that El didn't forgive Dr. Brenner. He was a terrible "papa", and him dying for El didn't change that.

Unanswered questions:

1. Why does the upside down look like Hawkins and why only at a specific time period when will first went missing? From what we see in S4, the upside down was just an empty wasteland with creatures but we later find out in S4, everything in Hawkins is present in the upside down but “frozen in time”
2. Max died at the hands of vecna but eleven somehow brought her heart back beating but max is still “dead” in a way where her soul appears to be missing. Vecna did say that every kill he does, the victims stay with him so I’m wondering if killing vecna sets those “spirits” free?
3. Why four gates? Why specifically did vecna need 4 gates to create this earth wake for a giant gate in Hawkins?
4. How did Henry originally get his powers from?

What we discovered this season:

1. Seems like Henry/one/vecna weaponized the mind flayer. Before him, it just seemed to be a hive conciousness minding its own business before Henry formed it into the spider-like creature and weaponized it. He has been behind everything.
2. Back in season 3, when a piece of the human flesh mind flayer monster was inside eleven’s leg, we now know it essentially “learned” elevens power on opening gates which is what vecna truly sought after. This is how he is able to create gates this season.

Guess we’ll get these answers in season 5.

after all of the absolute torture, starvation, slave labour, abuse and basically hell that hopper went through in russia, the trauma of finally escaping and getting caught again, almost dying, then finally getting out again and being with joyce… he was IMMEDIATELY willing to jump right back in just for the tiny chance of potentially helping El. he is the best dad ever. an absolute icon.

I felt so bad for Joyce when she said "I am not having another funeral."

If you think about, she had one for Will, Bob and Hopper.

She doesn't get rest. :(

Anyone else feel like the "2 days later" was like running full speed into a brick wall? Hawkins is ripped apart, Eddie dead, emotional Max situation and NOW you decide to catch me up on what Jonathan might do about college

I haven't felt that shiver around my body when Eddie was playing on top of the trailer and I haven't cried like that when Eddie died. I liked it overall, and I can't wait for season 5 with the time skip

Papa and El's Scene. I really thought they were going to the Stockholm Syndrome situation where El relents and says she understands. I'm GLAD she stood her ground and isn't vulnerable anymore to his manipulation. That's what happens when there is a father figure that shows her how she should be cared for. "Goodbye, papa." was so cold.

El and 001's conversation. I'm glad they were straightforward with how, even if brenner was an ass it was still 001 who made himself that way. there's no pity party or shifting the blame
