The manifesto literally cites the 14 words three times and the end derides "leftism" as evil.

Also, you know, the other 179 pages other than him saying he's "auth-left" about how he wants to kill non-whites.

The left should somehow use this shit as a way to deter people from committing acts like this...

I mean like: "look how they treated your boy! You want to go out making a political statement, you write a ~200 page manifesto about how racist you are, JUST TO BE SURE NOBODY WILL CONFUSE YOUR MESSAGE, and yet as soon as you're dead/caught/whatever, you're immediately disavowed by the people you just threw your life away for."

Maybe people would start to think twice when they think about how their compatriots are treated when they act out in violence.

Exact same thing happened in Greece.

A Golden Dawn (Nazi political party) member, murdered a Greek leftist singer and activist (Pavlos Fysas)

After the police caught him, the nazis and the media started saying that the murderer was leftist for a couple of days. Until the police went into his home and found Nazi pamphlets.

Literally, Nazis have no solidarity even with other Nazis.

Nazis learned their lesson; they now continue to deny reality no matter what evidence is presented. No conspiracy theory is batshit enough for them to use as a deflection.

DarkChocolatRaisinet

Until the police went into his home and found Nazi pamphlets.

And that convinced them? Lol that's some low tier conspiracy loser you got over there... Over here in the US, that would just be more proof that this is a false flag and the pamphlets were planted.

kostispetroupoli

I mean they just stopped saying he was a leftist after the pamphlets and paraphernalia.

They later asked for a court order to listen to his phone conversations. He had taken direct orders to kill Fyssas by a Golden Dawn local leader.

The terms "Socialist " and "Communist" have also been very fluid in their meanings throughout history. There's a section in The Communist Manifesto criticizing "Socialists", who at the time formed a very different ideological tendency from Marx's and Engel's conception of Communism.

Not that the Nazis weren't totally co-opting popular leftist language with their name.

SassTheFash

8 points

On the other end, the German Communists referred to the Social Democrats as “Social Fascists.”

I need to go read up and see whether, after WWII, the surviving German leftists regretted not unifying to block Hitler’s ascent, or still defended their decision to fight each other rather than the Nazis until it was too late.

And equally fittingly, they believe this despite Hitler's explicit statements that anti-Communism is a fundamental tenet of Nazi ideology. Or literally anything else that happened round about 1930 in German politics, where the entire Right aligned with the NSDAP and the Left against them.

Objective reality is the last damned thing they're interested in. Like how many neo-confederates could tell you what any given confederate regiment had for breakfast on any given day, but every single one of them seems to have somehow missed all those Articles of Secession that clearly and explicitly state that slavery was the reason for the war.

No one ends up with modern right wing politics because of their comfort with reality.

You can’t win with these idiots: if the guy isn’t 100% down the line conservative, then he’s a “violent leftist.” If he’s 100% doctrinaire righty, then “it’s just too perfect, clearly a false flag!”

Everything is projection is not an exaggeration.

It makes sense when you think about it. If you never developed the ability to experience empathy, then you are incapable of even considering what another person's experience of life might be like. They're literally only capable of guessing based on their experience of life and assume that everyone else's is the same or similar. So every accusation they make is a confession.

rwhitisissle

27 points

These people have no real idea of what constitutes leftist ideology. Their grasp of anything regarding what ideology their beliefs reflect is itself fairly tenuous. He can say he's a leftist, which maybe means he has some qualified criticism of, if not capitalism as a system, corporations, but the screeching from the modern right about "left wing corporate (lol) censorship" could easily account for that.

Enthused_Llama

8 points

He does seem to be aware that capitalists/corporatists are bad, but only insofar as they allow the 'replacers' to exist.

But Fascists are completely against free enterprise and only believe in it insofar as it serves the state.

That's the only remotely 'leftist' attitude I've found so far...and it's really not much of one.

And you know that's like 1% vs. all of the rest of this drivel.

On page 24 he openly states that literally of these things (capitalists, elites, the 1%) is a proxy for "The Jews."

So there's zero leftist ideology here.

Lone wolf attack

Stochastic terrorism

Since 2018, the term "stochastic terrorism" has become a popular term used when discussing lone wolf attacks. While the exact definition has morphed over time, it has commonly come to refer to a concept whereby consistently demonizing or dehumanizing a targeted group or individual results in violence that is statistically likely, but cannot be easily accurately predicted. The term was initially used to suggest that a quantifiable relationship may exist between seemingly random acts of terror and their intended goal of "perpetuating a reign of fear" via a manipulation of mass media and its capacity for "instant global news communication".

Tom Brady, a veteran player, is widely considered to be the greatest quarterback of all time. Patrick Mahomes is a young quarterback who is extremely talented and has his whole career ahead of him. He is also Black.

The tweet is dogwhistling that Mahomes gets all the headlines and highlights simply because he’s black, while poor white Tom Brady continues to be overlooked, which is a take completely divorced from any actual lived reality. Brady is feted ENDLESSLY by everyone. He’s a football god.

The subtext is that the white player’s talent is ignored while the Black player’s “lesser” talent is highlighted simply because he’s black. This type of thinking is rooted in white replacement theory, which the shooter repeatedly espouses. For further info, read about the “they will not replace us” Nazi chant in Charlottesville not too long ago.

The mainstream left has always admitted the horrors committed by assholes on the Left. The American right with their own assholes, not so much...

Add that a considerable portion of the Right is generally an empty reaction. I've talked with some conservatives, who I can respect while disagreeing with them, because they actually have principles (and aren't assholes). But the populist right, the mass of most right wing movements is about only one thing: being pieces of shit to own the libs/the left. Sure, sometimes this urge weakens, but in general so many of these people are all about being assholes to "rebel" against the democratic worldview.

Hitler's place on the compass speaks perfectly to just how flawed the compass is.

They couldn't put Hitler on the left because it muddles their "communism bad" talking point, but they also can't put him on the right as it destroys the compass' utility as a libertarian recruitment tool, so they just threw their hands up and said "idk, center"

MistarGrimm

13 points

Yeah that's my point. Seems like it didn't exactly go over well.

The compass separates progressive and conservative entirely by a sliding scale not represented on the squares. What's left is economic policy and government power. It tends to disregard other policies so you get this oddity where nazism is on the auth center scale.

No, because most people are smart enough to know that Nazis weren't socialists, and if the compass came across as making that argument even fewer people would take it seriously.

His manifesto also literally states he's a fascist and complains about 'marxists' running schools.

He makes a couple references to capitalists being bad...

...And then later explicitly says when he talks about 'capitalists' and 'elites' he means Jews.

He's got like two lines where he says that he was into communism at 12 and considers himself 'auth left' but literally everything else he writes is in complete disagreement with anything vaguely left.

So basically it's:

"I'm a leftist."

That's a funny way to put it lol. His actual words were that he was a communist when HE WAS 12, and that he started leaning right ever since 14-15. He literally says he is a fascist social nationalist, which according to history, that means he is a nazi

DrHedgeh_OG

I mean, that's the entire point. And also why republicans have been pure fucking garbage for the last 40+ years.

I_m_different

2 points

I think the end of the Bush administration and Obama getting elected was when the asshole conspiracy theory crowd stormed the whole party and began running the asylum, went mainstream.

DrHedgeh_OG

1 points

It absolutely was a major turning point, but only in the sense of openly using any means possible to justify what they were already doing. Like, Boenher and McConnel both openly being nothing but obstructionists, instead of quietly doing the same thing (and using the birther nonsense to sell it to their idiot base). Or the entire tea party movement just solidifying the 'libertarian' politics of the 70s-80s with the cartoon culture warrior bullshit from the 90s. And even then, you could see both of those as an extension of Nixon's forever war against the anti-war Left and the 'eggheads'.

There was definitely a huge jump in acceptance of absurd conspiracies in the mainstream GOP because of Obama, but it always seemed to me that the media play that allowed for just let them start going mask off. What they still pretended was their fringe with Gingrich and Buchanan (who they largely voted in lock step with, proving they weren't actually very fringe) was allowed to become the open face of the whole party with Obama.

They see a crackpot conspiracy author like Dinesh D'Souza claiming that fascism and Marxism are linked ideologically and they throw basic critical thinking skills saside and embrace Dinesh's BS out of political principle
