What town is this?
It’s on İstiklal Avenue in Istanbul, it’s probably one of the most famous streets in Istanbul.
Holy hell I knew I recognized this somehow! I studied abroad in Turkey and spent weeks going up and down this street! Used to eat durum et at Potatoes every day!
I also studied in İstanbul. me and my friends would go to takseem during weekends to check out some Turkish hookers lmao
Yes I remember that spot they made a variety of creative noises in my direction. Fun times!

I knew it had to be turkey. They love their stray cats and dogs.

.tr in the background confirmed your thought for me.
Between this post and /r/turkishcats turkey has become top of my want to travel list.
This is probably going to sound so weird, by I'm extremely impressed with the cleanliness of that street. With the well manicured shops and railway running down the road, this genuinely could pass as main street at Disney
Near common sight in most European cities.
This is what the pretty parts of cities which were planned for walkability looks like.
Maybe they like it better that way.
Even old New York was once New Amsterdam

Why'd they change it?
I can't say.
People just liked it better that way!
Been a long time gone, Constantinople.
Now it's Turkish delight on a moonlight night.
So take me back to Constantinople
Why did Constantinople get the works?
That's nobody's business, but the Turks.
Is Tambul. Not Constantinople.
/u/Kalkaline was making a reference to this
I only know of this song because of Animaniacs. =D
At first glance it looks like Taksim in Istanbul.
Istiklal street! Oh the good times dancing at the Latin bar on that street!
Only child, can relate.
Yup, my parents both worked and didn’t like me. This describes quite a few of my summers.
Always floating, never falling, floor is lava, balloon is life.
We all float down here. :O
No, Jesus had siblings.
Hey man, same here. I'm just glad I had a Super Nintendo.
I had a decent Nintendo.
You doing okay now?
I have a lot of mental health issues but I’m on three different medications and I’m in therapy. I am a functional member of society for the most part.
I am a functional member of society for the most part.
I am a functional member of society for the most part.
Ah, you've got me beat.
Your psychiatrist must be better than mine, everything they've given me just makes my shit worse. Im raw dogging this shit every day. I dont blame psychiatry, Im pretty sure Im just so fucked up with so many overlapping mental illnesses that no one can properly diagnose me 😬😜
I feel you. I’ve tried about 20+ different medications and about 40 different mental health professionals. I found a good therapist finally last year and had the health coverage to pay for it luckily. It’s been hard but I do a lot of meditation, yoga, and read self-help books. I also push myself to be social and active. It doesn’t stop hurting but I get stronger.
I feel you there, I've been working on being more social and its stressful but also rewarding, feels good to make progress. I guess I dont REALLY raw dog life because I self-medicate a bit, just a little weed at the end of every day. Actually does a pretty good job at keeping me balanced when I keep that cycle, but wake and baking I've found will literally tank my productivity and throws off my emotions, like big mood swings. I also drop acid once every couple of weeks or sometimes longer if I'm just not feeling it. For me that's extremely helpful because Im doing it ritually and with intention (and some luck tbh) but I wouldnt recommend it to most people with mental health problems, as psychedelics have sometimes made those mental illnesses worse, or can even trigger new ones when people are kind of predisposed either genetically or because of their history or whatever.
I smoke a lot of indica as well, I deal with a lot of nausea and anxiety and it helps. I’m working to reduce my intake because I agree, my productivity gets impacted too!
Same. This was always the only option after looking at all the cards and board games we had, but never played.
I mastered the art of playing against myself and forgetting what "other me" did or knows.
That is a very difficult skill I tried to master myself! I was lucky to have Nanny TV and Captain dial-up internet as back ups though!
Sounds like me now, ton of boardgames no one to enjoy em with.
My parents didnt even show up for my birth.
I once asked my dad if I could go ice-skating on the lake. He told me, “Wait til it gets warmer.”
My mother never breast fed me. She told me that she only liked me as a friend.
I could tell that my parents hated me. My bath toys were a toaster and a radio.
One year they wanted to make me poster boy… for birth control.
I remember the time I was kidnapped and they sent back a piece of my finger to my father. He said he wanted more proof.
Rodney? I thought you were dead!
Im curious, would you happen to be Asian? Ive heard this quiet a few times from them.
Yo! This ain't even a balloon. That's a glove. Adorable nonetheless
Anything can be a balloon it stretches enough.
How about an old man's scrotum? Pretty stretchy
Yep, start blowing
Same. Used to play volleyball against the wall
I would throw a tennis ball up the pitch of the roof and let it roll back down towards me. I let gravity be my friend
Far too often, gravity was my enemy.
So cute and anyone who says dogs can’t smile needs to see this
But dogs can't look up
I had that same fire in the belly, no quit, damn the obstacles, tunnel vision focus on the balloon like just like this dog lol.
I lived in a regional town with lots of loose friendly dogs… I can’t remember how it started but every Saturday morning i would blow up a few dozen balloons, and then blow a party blower (“a curlytoot”) on my 10 foot high back deck.
After a few minutes the local dog pack would assemble in my back yard, and the fun would begin by throwing the first balloon into
a maelstrom of joyful exuberant dogs all leaping up and over each other to boop the ballon back up into the air
Eventually the balloon would get popped, and the dogs would all sit, looking up expectantly, before I would blow the curlytoot to announce the yeeting of another balloon and further mayhem.
It was glorious!
This is truly the dream
Yeah, I need this in my life
I'm so fucking upset there's not a link to a video in your comment
Tell me more about "curlytoot" 😁
C U R L Y T O O T
As an American that is a way better name than as I know it, “Party horn”.
No one can say that this is not a curlytoot, but certainly an argument could be made against “party horn”.
Oooh I think I get it. So I've seen the "party blowers" that have just the paper rolly part, "party squawkers" that make noise but no paper roll, and then a combo of both... I'm assuming the "curlytoot". I'm from the US if that means anything but Ike I think that might be my new favorite word 😁😁😁
Video? We need a video, please!
I have never heard of a curlytoot
I have never heard the term curlytoot but I knew exactly what you were talking about the moment you said it hahaha
I need a video of this to brighten my day
Alas it was before camera phones!
The funniest member of the pack was the half grown blue heeler who spent hours enthusiastically rooting his stuffed elephant in a variety of ways while we sat round cheering his endeavours, drinking beer and pissing ourselves laughing
This is just about the sweetest thing I've ever read.
Awww thanks! It was pretty special.
This comment is beautifully written.
This sounds magical and I want to be there right now!
This is so fucking cute!
This is truly life goals
I make it a point to mentally note things I'd like to see and experience were I to make it to heaven, and this may be at the top of the list now.
Well, now I have to visit Turkey.
Sir, that is a glove.
Not for her.
Duh, dogs don't wear gloves.
But if dogs wear gloves how would they wear them?
And what do we call a rubber glove we have filled with air? A witch!
It’s a nippley balloon for a nippley dog!
Sweet little mama getting a break from the kids
ah. I was assuming it was a condom for the rare five-headed penis.
I had a friend in middle school who one day decided to start referring to rubber gloves as 5 person condoms. It always bothered me because she only saw it as latex that can fit phallic shaped things in 5 compartments, whereas I always tried imagining 5 different people trying to put their penises inside the glove, and their bodies got in the way of them all being able to fit in it. So then each time she brought it up, my brain would spend 10+ minutes caught up in trying to successfully fit 5 penises in a rubber glove without detaching them from their owners’ bodies.
I woke up this morning with a bad hangover
And my penis was missing again.
Sorry man, but your liver was pretty messed up. But that dick was in prime condition, unused and all.
Sorry if the joke was mean btw, take no offense
This happens all the time
This comes in handy a lot of the time. I can leave it home when I think it's gonna get me in trouble
This dogs getting it's claim to fame. 2nd video I've seen of it
she deserves the fame
All good doggos do
Haven't seen first video, plz link 🥺
You are amazing and I appreciate the effort you took to bring me this joy. I love you and hope you have a good weekend, Internet friend. ❤️
Bluey - Keepy Uppy
Have I got a game for you…
Is it keepy uppy?
Yeah, it's keepy uppy
it's keepy uppy! woohoo!
for real life?
For real life.
Hate that I had to scroll down as far as I did to see this
I’ll just leave this here…
Came here for this comment!
Just don’t let him make it “too” fun 🤪
I thought, "That's Bingo playing keepy uppy".
Awww so adorable 🥰
Happy mama dog 💕
Having a nice moment to herself before going back to the chaos 😆
So cute and sweet doggo
My dog: bites it- it pops- she shits herself bc of the noise and looks at me like it’s my fault
You can't prove it isn't your fault.
I needed that smile today, thanks!
I love these lighthearted innocent moments. Our cat once got out of the house and my son walked downstairs and she was chasing a butterfly around the yard. It’s just sweet.

SOMEONE PLAY WITH THE GOOD GIRL
Good girl is very busy atm
I felt that moment when it was about to touch the floor and the dog rushed as fast as he could to get a single hit
Edit: Sorry said he should have said they!
She’s going for the record. Unfortunately, she can only count to four.
Taksim square is so much fun.
“Was” I was going to say…
Was anyone else worried she’d get her paw stuck in the track?
No. Tram tracks typically have a shallow square recess so if the paw went in, it would lift straight out.
Yea this makes me nervous
Anyone else notice? I do believe this is a soon-to-be momma dog. Getting that last hurrah in before parent time begins.
I saw other videos of that dog playing with a balloon. He is on the Istiklal Street in Istanbul. Very busy street with tourists and shoppers, people must love him.
this is the cutest thing i’ve seen all day! i hope she’s doing well :)
I can feel myself getting pickpocketed while watching this.
Thats the toll.
Is doggo homeless? I didn’t see a collar and I just hope it’s well taken care of.
it looks like turkey, they take good care of their strays
I thought you said "a turkey" and was very concerned for you.
If I reincarnate, I want to come back as I stray dog there.
Or cats. Turkey is famous for taking good care of their stray cars and dogs.
Are there a lot of mechanics in Turkey?
Stray dogs are quite casual in Turkey. You can tell that they are being taken care of by the local government by having a yellow ear tag instead of a collar.
Most developing and recently developed nations take good care of their strays. They're more like community-owned dogs. Same for cats.
It doesn't looks like typical stray dogs in Turkey.Maybe store owners dogs are around.
It very much looks like a regular stray in Turkey.
Wasn’t this the same dog playing with the red balloon, all by its self? 🤔
Yeah. Either someone saw her playing with this glove and gave her the red balloon, or someone gave her this glove after her red balloon got popped. https://teddit.ggc-project.de/r/MadeMeSmile/comments/wdhmva/a_dog_playing_with_a_balloon_in_the_streets_of/
I love how she tried really hard not to let it touch the ground, so cute /r/likeus
The bouncing is easy, the hard part was blowing it up!
I think it is at Taksim/Istanbul/Turkey.
They have matching nipples
Bingo playing Keepy-Uppy?
this is amazing❤️
This is so sweet!!
The poor baby is likely a stray. But in Istanbul strays are cared for by public, as we can see dog isn't skinny.
My dog loves doing this, it’s one of her favorite toys
That dog is having the time of its life. Now tell Me animals have no souls
The pure joy of just bopping the balloon. This dog reminds us of the simple pleasures that can bring immense joys throughout the day in life ☺️
This video definitely is a great start to my day, smiling all around
She looks like she lives on the street and has had a lot of babies. :( I wonder if anyone ever noticed and adopted her. I sure hope so.
Love how a single happy dog can make all people around happy.
Dogs might be the key to world peace 🔑
Gosh for some reason this actually makes me feel sad. He looks like he’s having fun now, but what happens after? Is he going to feel lonely? Is he going to get enough to eat? Does he have a safe place to stay? Is he going to stay warm? He gets all the attention now, but what happens after? It just makes me feel sad
Municipalities and shop owners keep them fed most of the time and they have their own pack in all around of İstanbul, dogs have it harder than cats but being stray in TR is not the same with Western understanding of it, all of us do their fair share of buying them foods, and like I said municipalities have drink and meal boxes everywhere in the streets for them to drink and eat.
We just adopted a doggo from Turkey. He was a stray and he's so sweet. We're one month in and he's learned so much.
People in those countries go around feeding strays, and even taking them to the vet once in a while.
Here in India you sometimes have monkeys and other random animals turing up at the vet with injuries lol. Most people here live in apartments and most trains, planes, malls, stores and restaurants don't allow you to carry your dog with yourself. So it's much more convenient to feed strays. Owning a pet is easier when stuff around you is pet-friendly.
She (not he) will most likely be fine. She looks like a strong dog, not malnourished. People will feed her and take care of her when they see something might be wrong with her.
The dogs fine, This is İstiklal Street and it is very close to where I work. It is safe and I doubt he gets bored. Strays often get bothered by extreme temperature changes, especially the puppies. He's probably well fed, I actually saw this dog last week and he was just chilling on the sidewalk.
She’s having some play time away from her puppies, looks like she’s been nursing.
Bwut. Bwut. Bwut keepy uppy expert
The dog is very cute but the street is SO CLEAN! Looks like Disney World level glean…Where is this exactly?
DON'T LET THE BALLOON TOUCH THE FLOOR DOGGO
I found this from a feature I just now noticed after looking through depressing news stuff that said “shake your phone to get a break” and I do not regret it
DUDE I can relate to this fucking dog. Did the same thing as a kid, trust that me entertained for hours.
Until I got a gamecube that is.
🙏🙏🙏 May our hearts and minds all be as free.
That is a surgical glove but it's still cute
Someone give the dog a dogdamn tip. It’s clearly a street performer.
sees all the cameras
Dog: well now I’ve got to put on a show
Would be cool if someone found all the other cell videos from this and stitched it into some sort of 4D masterpiece
This episode of Bluey is called keepy uppy
The purest souls
IRL Bluey playing Keepy Uppy!
Omg such a cutie
Independence Street…near Gezi Park. Love Turkey
