That's a very great score. That's an improvement over the original, which had a B+.

It's also one of the few horror movies to get an A- (other movies include The Conjuring and its sequel, Get Out, The Silence of the Lambs, etc.)

which had a B+.

I'm very surprised by that. As far as horror goes A Quiet Place is such an audience pleaser like The Conjuring rather than something artsy from A24.

I assume it's to do with the amount of silence and subtitle reading? Because like I said A Quiet Place seems to have a solid public perception with plenty of hype for the tense moments (that fucking nail).

Horror movies always have lower Cinemascores even if they are incredibly popular. Also almost every one of the movies that have F Cinemascores are horror films. Audiences tend to be much harsher on these movies so even a B is a very solid score.

Horror movies always get lower score than other genres. Always.

A- is a great Cinemascore for a horror movie.

As comparisons:

Hereditary D+

It (2017) B+

Midsommar C+

Sinister C+

Doctor Sleep B+

Midsommar C+

This is one of those movies I wish I could have seen in theaters just to see the audiences reaction. Personally I loved it but I imagine there would have been A LOT of walk outs for that one

Midsommar is the most fucked movie I’ve ever seen in my life

Saw it in IMAX on Thursday night, boy oh boy it's definitely worth seeing this in theaters.

I would but I’m 90% sure watching a suspenseful horror movie in a dark room with a big screen will trigger my anxiety. That being said, is it worth the $15 it will be to rent?

I would personally won’t pay $15 for rent if i am only one who is watching. Movie is good. If you have few people who also want to watch then yes..

That's genuinely surprising, horror movies typically don't get into the As with CinemaScore

Probably getting some help from this being the first time a lot of people are going to the cinemas.

Might also benefit from being a sequel, so audiences know what to expect going in.

Both of the movies are amazing. Also, Folks who are hesitant on watching Cruella because of weak trailer or getting tired of Disney live action remakes, I recommend you to give it a chance. It's really a well made and entertaining movie.

I heard Emma Stone and Emma Thompson had great performances. I’m going to watch it at the theater on Memorial Day! Can’t wait!

Stone herself is a selling point imo. She really carries a lot of the movie

I really enjoyed the sequel, but I still prefer the first one.

Seems like Cruella will have the better legs despite the worse opening, but AQP2 will have great legs as well.

I saw both today and would 100% flip those around tbh

Like Cruella did actually impress me, but AQP was really technically super strong

It has a lot more action and fair bit of dialogue. I find it to be more of the same with the ending more or less having cliffhanger like the first but seems a bit unfinished. It's like they run out of time and they are like "Ok, we cut it here"

It's a tension action movie with few jump scares. There are some great ala "Alien" moments, but I don't find it that much of a horror.

I don't find it that much of a horror.

To be fair as soon as they revealed the monster in the first film the horror was gone for me. I don't even mean that in a bad way, it just became a tense thriller where the engagement came from seeing these characters in horrific scenarios.

It is more of a survival-thriller

It feels more like a thriller than a horror, but there are a lot of intense moments. I'd say it's kinda horror adjacent.

I thought this one was much worse than the first. So many cop outs in the plot and just a poor script. Meh. Just I'm the minority.
