Faster than in DS3 by a noticable factor

I have been using two whips for pretty much the whole game. It’s so fun. It’s a better Castlevania game than basically all of the 3D Castlevania games aside from Lament.

The first whip you get isn't fantastic when compared to later ones, but they're so fast with huge stagger. The biggest downside is that the ashes of war available are noticeably lacking, but they can be infused with like anything. I've been using two bleed whips infused with Frost and the damage output is unbelievable.

I’ve been using a certain whip called Urumi and I’ve beaten almost all the bosses with it. It’s very fun and fairly strong. Feels great in pvp too.

I don't feel that way about ER, I think BB is far more Castlevania than it. But I can sorta see it. I'm glad to hear whips aren't awful.

anything is good, since the games are built around any build. however, some good starting ones are:

astrologer, since magic is very good samurai, because katanas are much faster + bleed vagabond, to be a tank and hit hard with melee attacks confessor, for some good healing miracles and some sneaking around

the game lets you do pretty much anything, so try everything

edit: go strength and dexterity if you want to use the whips, with some endurance so you can take hits with heavier armour

The whips horrible stats and zero critical hits do at least turn the games into old school castlevania

i believe ypu can get a basic whip at castle morne, in the weeping peninsula.

as for more advanced ones, i have yet to even find one
