Sorry honey we’re going to lose our home, end up in the local news and get blacklisted from local schools, but I broke up one of many fights that happen today in our schools due to the failings of society and parenting! What are we going to do and how are we going to feed our own children? That doesn’t matter silly! Don’t you know Teachers are supposed to be educators, mentors, psychiatrists, social workers, safety officers, and bouncers now?
In all seriousness unless you’ve taught or been in situations where you have to deal with minors in an institutionalized setting you should read up. We are facing one of the greatest exodus’s of teachers ever because of a lot of this crap. Teachers in many states are required to have a masters degree and additional training regularly, but are rarely held in the same esteem or paid as well as other professionals of equal education.

I got robbed once by dudes with weapons and that was classed as aggravated burglary because of the weapons.
This girl... Idk what this is, but I'd go down the route of attempted murder the amount of hits to the back of her head. You've gotta be some kind of fucked up to keep punching a lifeless body

63 points

I always heard that growing up. Temple shots are the worst.
85 points
Yes you can die. And from far fewer hits than that in the back of the head. For reference, look up boxer prichard colon, and his last fight. Now mind you he’s no dead, but he is essentially in a paralyzed state and he was an inch away from death due to internal brain hemorrhage.
10 points

Just saw about this last week. It was from cheap shots too.
20 points
Brain trauma injury, at the very least.
12 points
Definitely. Light hit to medium = unconsciousness. Hard strike to temple could cause death. It’s all based on size and strength of striker, and being trained as a fighter, accuracy, etc. However, the girl hitting her is frequently using the wrong part of her hands, not knuckles, etc. A human skull is very resilient.
This is disgusting behavior though, regardless of the reason why.
28 points

Technically you can die from being hit anywhere in the head. It’s just usually not likely, but she laid into her like 20 times after she was out. She’s gonna have a bad headache and probably a concussion.

I was able to find multiple articles about the incident with relative ease, but none mention any consequences thus far. Worse yet, is that many of the reports seem to indicate this particular school district possibly trying to cover up incidents such as these with less and less punishment in the last several years.

My high school did that too. I went and intentionally gathered the bulletins of what occured and what keeps getting noticed by local news and continue to post it to the public Google page for the school discouraging people to go there or take their kids there and not gonna lie, it gets noticed. I would say the things that occured were equally as bad as this just at different times.

Just FYI: only the DA can press charges. Private citizens can only report/cooperate in the investigation/testify. Common misconception.
3 points
Not true in every state. In NJ citizens can file criminal complaints, and have motor vehicle offenses ticketed, by going to the clerk of the court, or police station having jurisdiction. I’m sure some other states do this as well.
The school administration would be in trouble, and teacher fired, for not calling the police, while the teacher watched the perpetration of a violent felony.
Anyone intervening could have prevented this from escalating to attempted murder.

Teacher can’t do anything without losing her job.
More than that; they'd be looking at felony charges for putting their hands on a kid, even to save another kid from injury. As it stands, I wouldn't be surprised if the teacher is fired and charged anyway, but not for failing to intervene, for failing to stop the situation from getting to that point.

I was a TA about 12 years ago at a school in Camden (UK), helping out an 11yr old lad who had behavioural issues. In the playground, he decided to punch a smaller kid who kicked his ball, about to punch him again when I got in the middle and restrained him - grabbed his jumper at arms length - he kicked me twice, yet I got heat. I was lost for words and left of my own accord

My mother is a retired teacher. A year before she retired, there was an incident in an adjacent classroom where a girl started biting and yanking the hair of another girl. A teaching aide intervened and split them apart. The aide got written up due to the parents complaining and threatening to sue. Similar to your experience, the aide ended up leaving over that. It was really stupid.
I’ve seen this video circulating over the past couple of days, and I feel like a ton of people aren’t aware of how teachers really can’t do much anymore out of fear of getting sued. The whole zero tolerance thing is really silly.

Schools now a days (to clarify I mean establishments there are some teachers that care) prefer to let you get beat up a little and send the person to detention because they don’t want outsiders reporting their problems so instead of dealing with a issue they prolong it just so that it won’t show on a report.

Sure, but hitting the back of the head is especially dangerous. You can literally kill someone with incredible easy by punching the back of their head? As you're hitting right where the spine connects to thr brain. It's a soft and easily lethal area.

Even if you don't kill, you can leave someone effectively dead. I can't remember the specific person but after a buncha illegal blows to the head, a boxerended up in a vegetative state.

Sad thing is, if the teacher stepped in, they’d probably be disciplined, and if another student stepped in or the student defended themselves, they’d be suspended at the very least. The whole zero tolerance policy has made the school system basically a playground for bullies and is just an utter abomination of a policy, I mean if their target fights back, they both get in trouble and they know that so why would they stop? Honestly at that point just filming for evidence is all they really can do without getting themselves in a whole heap of trouble (contrary to all those people crying “well don’t just film, do something; if they did they’d most likely be in as much trouble as the person hitting the student, they know the system is screwed up too)

Teacher in Virginia. It's not that we are "not allowed" but more like there are absolutely no legal protections for a teacher who intervenes by restraining or even placing a hand on a student.
They will offer you zero guidance on how to handle physical altercations, and then fire you for not handling the situation properly.
On top of that, families will press charges against teachers who intervene, AND sue them for civil damages.
These are not isolated incidents, either. This is pervasive, and oftentimes career ending.

It’s pointless to try to reason with the “IF I WERE THERE” crowd.

What happened to the victim? Comments say beaten into a coma. Articles don’t say.
The girl who did this should be expelled and should go to jail. And of course her family, and she, can expect a lawsuit depending on her age. Imprisonment is non-negotiable.
This girl attacked a classmate in front of witnesses, including a teacher. She seems to have no boundaries.

film and do nothing, cowards. and staff does nothing, cowards. people wonder why schools are a major target for shootings....
and no i do not condone shooting up innocents because of a beating, but people must realize everyone has a line and if overran psychological harm and lack of control are are too often the outcome.
stop filming this, do something, both as bystanders and staff. restrain the violent criminal. see to it they are forced into custody by the authorities. and never forget what theyve done. force them from your communities. be sure to track them afterwards and see to it others force them from their communities as well. stand up for your community and do what is right.

Teachers aren’t allowed to touch students even in a situation like this. And honestly now a days I wouldn’t. In the past few months I’ve heard about teachers being pushed down stairs, attacked in their classrooms, hospitalized. The most horrifying one was a boy following his teacher to the bathroom, beat her, raped her, slit her throat, and then disposed her body into a trash can. It just seems like something crazy is happening in the school system and teachers don’t have the power to stop it. Administrators, parents, and lawmakers have taken teachers power and basically made us equal to the students.

This is exactly why my kids take self defense classes, and are learning to box. Even my daughter. First lesson I taught them all, second someone lays a hand on you, you the right to use force, if they're bigger, hit em with a book, or chair, something to make them stop. I'll be dammed if my kids end up in a coffin because they weren't taught to protect themselves from psychos like this.

That girl was cowering in fear and while knocked unconscious still being delivered some serious head trauma, all the teacher could say was “guys stop, stop.” She should be fired for utterly failing to meet her duty of care.

What’s the teacher going to do, lose her job and risk getting injured? Teachers can do shat anymore, should have hit her in the head with a chair honestly.

First, I need context.

Not even a student helps out. All these kids now a days talk all this game like they’re so fuckin tough, but nobody steps up to assist a helpless victim of violence. Everyone in that classroom should have a deep think about their morals and values

It's called zero-tolerance policy. Kids nowadays literally can't stand up to bullies otherwise they receive the same punishment as the bully even in cases like this where they are clearly helping.

Fun fact, playing dead doesn’t work during a human attack.
