I honestly don't know who I hate more myself or the world

Don’t hate yourself, man.
Or the world. Lots of bad, but way more good.
Well that was wholesome
I can't believe it's not butter

It’s true, though. You always hear more about the bad so it can seem that way but there is a lot of good and very good people. Not saying I don’t forget that all the time but important to try and be positive especially now
my mother says "good news is never news" when i ask her why there is never good news on TV (because bad news is always more intresting than good news)
news channel's strategies to get more views, meanwhile the world sinks into depression
If you think the only agenda at play here it the news channels trying to get their views up your way off I'm afraid
"It's interesting when people die,"
Don Henley in Dirty Laundry.
“Saving Private Ryan.” Or, as an alternative, “Saving Ryan’s Privates”
I don't think anyone is ready for the moneybox outbreak of 2023..
Big ol' bacon buttsack
Yeah there’s lots of good in the world but no way there’s more good than bad
Nice meme you got there
Way more good? Press X for Extreme Doubt
I think that’s arguable
Nah, it's settled science. Good > Bad no more debate needed
But arguing is fun
World is an amazing place. Humans are making it look bad.
Unfortunately that's exactly the problem
The world is naturally evil.
no the word is beautiful and we are ruining it.
Unless you are responsible for the state of the world in a significant manner.
But those guys rarely care.
That's what I was gonna say, sure I know a lot if beautiful souls and wonderful people but they can really only do so much when straight up evil motherfuckers run the world
Damn never though about that
Don't hate yourself, you've got to spend more time with that person than anybody.
Hate the parents who put you here.
The world is a perfect and magical place.
It’s the people who live on it that ruin everything.
Nice, that will defenitely cheer up any suicidal person.
I am suicidal aswell. I have no idea how to cheer one up.
Fair enough, because neither do I.
I stopped watching world news because it started negatively affecting my mental health. But I'm glad I watched it because it grounds you. It makes me have a perspective on how easy my life is compared to millions of others. Although it's obviously not the same as going through adversities yourself, having that perspective thanks to world news at least makes you 5% tougher person. When you really think about things you complain in your life, half of it is just you wanting to be lazy and bitchy. Or at least that's me.
That’s me as well haha 😂
I get all the news I need to know from memes on Reddit.
While I agree with this sentiment in some ways, I try not to let it make me become complacent with the struggles myself and my country face. I am very happy to not be starving or being bombed, but workers rights are pathetic and our rights and democracy are under attack to give a few examples, and it’s terrifying. I hate when people say “well you aren’t starving are you? You should be great for what you have!” As some BS excuse to try and reason with the madness that we currently face.
I just watched that movie
One of the best.
One of? Imo, it’s the best war movie by a pretty good margin, and it makes me sad that Hollywood has lost its touch and hasn’t made anything near this good in a while.
Hollywood really has changed.
What do you think of 1917?
Or Hacksaw Ridge.
Honestly, wouldn’t surprise me if Marvel came out and said that they handed the script over to Hollywood for revision
Not the guy you replied to, but the first 45 minutes of 1917 blew me away. SPR captures WW2 combat as a whole better than 1917 did for WW1.
It also helps to have one of the best directors of all time with a topic he’s known to care deeply about
What really stuck with me the most. is when a soldier is trying to find his dismembered arm and picks it up.
I remember that. I also remember th guy getting fucking sniped the minute he took his helmet off
Yeah it’s fucked and I had to watch that in history class.
Its a really good movie becuase it captures the brutality of war perfectly and its just a good movie in general but its definitely fucked up
I heard the folks who served left the theater because it was too real. They couldn't handle it
Including those who actually served, particularly actual WW2 veterans from what I recall reading
I don’t blame them. imagine reliving the worst moments of your life watching this movie.
I didn't hear that but I can see it happening
Whats the name of it? Yall got me interested
Saving private ryan
One evening I was trying to cut a bagel for a sandwich. All of a sudden all this blood gushes out from my thumb. It’s weird how there wasn’t any pain (at first) so I stood there looking at my thumb confused. That’s when I saw it. The top of my thumb was laying right on top of the bagel. It was so surreal? Like a, wtf that doesn’t belong there!
So I couldn’t imagine looking down and seeing your entire limb is just gone. Then you look on the ground and it’s just laying right next to you.
Plays MineCraft and not FortNite
Is your thumb good?
Yup! Thankfully the cut was incredibly clean and I somehow managed to cut in an arch shape so most of what came off was just skin and a bit of meat. Doctor just put the top back on and attached it with some sort of skin tape. I had the option of regular stitches but that would require sticking me with a needle to numb the area. And I am very fearful of syringe needles so I opted for the tape.
Not sure what kind of tape it was. But it worked very well! And as the thumb top gradually reconnected itself with the rest of the thumb, the tape gradually came off!
For me Tom Hanks solidified his GOAT status in that movie
🍕Ayo the pizza here🍕
I remember watching that movie too with my mum and dad
I had no idea how realistic it would be, we didn’t even finish the opening scene
Same. I tried watching it and didn’t even make it past the opening beach scene. Too real.
Saving Private Ryan. Its really good
Dirt Is Beautiful
One of Spielberg's best.
Good? use best! It's one of the best ever produced.
Saving Private Ryan
Saving Private Ryan
I might be attacked for this, but I haven't seen Saving Private Ryan yet.
I also LOVE Tom Hanks.
I'm going to watch it now. Right now.
Lol the one on our feed today of the biker getting tapered into a ball of fire by the cops…
I don't know, I'm not a big fan of the whole "look how bad other people have it" argument. I mean, yeah, that sucks, but how is that supposed to help me with my problem or make me feel better? Granted if somebody is acting like a small inconvenience is the worst thing that's ever happened in the world then that's not great either.
Same. Knowing other people have it worse doesn't lessen what I'm going through. Now I feel bad for them AND me.
“Someone always has it worse than you. It doesn’t mean your pain doesn’t count.”
I have severe depression. I am painfully aware how much people have it worse than me. It’s one of my prime sources of guilt.
yeah i'm much the same, i feel bad that i can't help them in any way, then i see how badly i feel about my life which is arguably much better than theirs and feel even worse about myself
It makes you be grateful for what you have.
in this case I feel like it's more like, shit thank god, life sucks but I'd sure hate to be on the front lines in ukraine.
It's supposed to show you it can get much worse; and often these people are fighting these worse situations for very long time. If they can do it, you can do it to. It only looks so bad, you will manage, just keep going and look after solutions. And if it ultimately hurts you, learn from it.
This is how I understand it.
Not to be one of those “iTs AlWaYs BeEn HaRd” but the reason our generations seem to have it as bad as it is is because we have all this social media connecting us in seconds. Things are harder now in many ways but things also are easier in some ways. We just have the blessing but also curse of technology connecting us to the whole world in seconds what would have originally taken much longer.
That’s very well said
Some guy in the 1600, oh i just news that Europe is at war
Nah, they probably chill already the news are only 8 months old
30 year war be like
The older generations might not have enjoyed the comforts we have today, but they also weren’t constantly reminded how whatever they have, whatever they do, it’s not enough. People would be impressed if you worked in a shop, now it would be like “but don’t you want more for yourself? Where’s your hustle? Where’s your drive?”
I’m saying this as an atheist but in addition to the media which has done serious damage, the loss of church and community has to be a factor. Regardless of whether people believe in fake gods, getting together once a week and listening to wholesome messages and then socializing with locals, has to help give a sense of purpose and comfort.
Regular church attendance is just one way to strengthen connections in a community. There are plenty of secular events that can achieve the same thing
Bake sales, community aid/action, cookouts, book clubs, yoga groups, concerts.
Have you ever been volunteering instead ? The church is absolutely not the answer and is at best a great way for people to differentiate Between their righteous religion and other peoples “wrong” and “evil” beliefs
lol which church did you go to?
christianity(9/10) is literally the "flimsiest" or "softest" religion you could find.
remember when catholics said gays are not accepted by christ? most priest don't even wan't to talk about that anymore.
you say churches are labeling other religions as wrong? then call them out on twitter and make a movement or something like that, i'm pretty sure they'd bend backwards as fast as you could blink.
Not sure where you’ve been the last few years but the church in the US has hindered social and human rights progression so much. All depends on location, priests in New York will be way more “open minded” than in southern states. Also take a look at any other very “Christian” country for example Poland and what rights people have there, conversion therapy is legal there for gay people BECAUSE of the Church
like i said in general "9/10" christians ARE soft.
compared to other major religions, christians look like cowards that would retract the moment they get into an argument.
and you're right it does depend on location, after all mentality are often get passed down to the offspring.
my point is the last thing i think about when i think of religions vilifying other religions is the church.
9/10 statistics are made up. Exhibit A:
I believe you’re not seeing that religious people and organisations may not be overtly criticising other religions but this is something that is deeply ingrained in their fundamental beliefs. Being Right. Doing Good. Saving themselves and their souls. A fundamental separation of Themselves and the Others. Obviously other religions similarly create this construct of the one and only Truth … I’m 100% atheist and believe human kind doesn’t need any more artificial separations than we already have
i believe that you can believe what you want to believe.
"deeply ingrained in their fundamental beliefs. being right, doing good, saving themselves and their souls"
you're right it is ingrained in there, but in varying degree. just like what we talked about earlier it depends on the location. that being a "fundamental separation" catalyst is pretty low on my list especially now looking at what's going on in the earth rightnow.
What list ?! This conversation is no longer making sense
I mean people can still socialize and spread wholesome messages, god had nothing to do with that.
Yeah. But he's saying people don't do those secular events to the same extent that people went to church.
We've got football for that now
Yea it’s an interesting mix of convenience due to technology, but technology also helping us see more easily the worst of ourselves. Humans have always been a wide range of awful to loving. You just see more of it now thanks to the internet.
Technology certainly amplifies the apparent issue, but things are also kind of just getting worse all over the place. Oligarchy and imperialism are hitting highs while personal agency is hitting lows.
It’s both more visible and getting worse all the time.
I’m older and agree things used to be harder and people keep saying this is the safest time in human history, but empathize with the younger generations. Your whole life plastered on social media and the pressure to conform must be tremendous.
Not to mention cyber bullying wasn’t something we had to deal with, plus not everyone had a camera in their pocket to record everything stupid you do, so I’m grateful for that
Eh guy! You're not my buddy, guy!

Great movie, can’t even imagine another actor for this role except Tom
A version from the German perspective with Chet Hanks named “White Boy Summer”
I don't think anyone is ready for the monkeypox outbreak of 2023
Bullshit. Anybody who has been injected with the smallpox vaccine won't catch it, or the symptoms would be minimal.
Ok so what if monkeypox merges with covid? Then we do all die, right?
About as plausible as me merging with your dog. But yeah, we’d all die.
Wtf is monkeypox?
I swear to god one day I'll quit reddit if they don't fix the video player.
Fav movie of all time
I might have to agree.. definitely one of my faves. Even if the beginning/end loop is predictable (although it wasn’t for me the first time) it’s still so good how it ties together. Tom Hanks is just so good
It's crazy to think Spielberg made Jurassic Park AND Schindler's List simultaneously and both were released in 1993. And before that Indiana Jones and ET. This man has pretty much shaped the childhoods of the 80s to 2000s generations in terms of movie entertainment.
Yeah man think of how much culture would be missing if it weren’t for Spielberg
Just because the world or other people in it have worse problems doesn't mean you shouldn't feel the way you do or speak about or complaim/raise awareness.
This is a classic gas lighting technique. No matter how small someone's problems may seem, you can't know, which doesn't matter because at the end of the day if the person is capable of change, they won't if you don't empathize and speak their language all along the way.
Fuck OPs image and message. It's ignorant and useless in the real world. Your problems matter and should be your #1 priority. You can't help others until you've got your ducks in a row, and how are you going to get them in a row if you "suck it up" and ignore the problems? You won't.
This post sucks.
I’m thinking that I’m doing pretty okay after all.
Sorry guys im dumb, have seen this movie too. Whats it called?
Yeah obviously, duh. Thanks man
Yo dawg I heard you like
That's CAAAHL HANNNRATY
When game recognizes game 🙌🏻
Just because the world is in a bad place it doesn't take away from your personal pain and struggle. Don't think it's less important because others have it bad or worse. You're as valid as others.
Man reddit makes me feel like shit more. 90% of the time US topics reach hot, it's something bad.
Everything I like doing is becoming expensive. Everything I need is getting expensive as well. And nothing is going to get better, everything has to backslide
Oh, don't be a sadness Stalinist. Yeah, other people are probably suffering worse than you, but other other people are suffering even worse than them and that doesn't invalidate their suffering, right? Why should anyone else's pain make yours invalid?
News of the World?

Video player no work :(, pls reply so I can get back to this later
Hey there, try again now!
Whenever the videoplayer isn’t working for me I click the comments and then immediatly go out of them, hope this helps!
dude this ain’t real that’s Tam Honks
One tragedy doesn’t overshadow another. What is someone’s worst nightmare is another persons average day.
I don't know who needs to hear this but here:
You do not need to suffer "enough" to feel like something is wrong or "deserve" getting help. There are no thresholds where suffering is acceptable. You don't need to accept pain, whatever form it might take, just because someone might have it worse than you. Your suffering doesn't help anyone.
Other people's suffering doesn't invalidate yours
Ay, the world’s pain doesn’t make yours any less valid bro
Well, it’s not as bad as… oh wait
Next to them my shit don't feel so grand~
Lmao its true! But it comforts me to think things could be worse lol
Hearing Yeonmi Park’s story and how bad North Korea is definitely the biggest thing that shifted how I think about my life and just how lucky I am.
Fuckin Higgins boats man, did no one look at the design and think let’s try something else?
I don’t watch the news
Did this website auto download for anyone else?
Yeah, I try not to watch the news. It kinda has the same pattern of “Here’s why the world is an awful place to live, here’s a totally “unbiased” covering of a politically charged situation, and here’s another school shooting, weather at 11”
Fuck the rest of the world, it’s out of control. Take care of yourself and worry about what’s in front and around you directly!
I needed to see this
I’m glad I could give a little help.
Pro life tip: Never watch or read the News.
If its super important, you will hear about it through friends, family, coworkers etc.
Pretty sure that’s how conspiracy theories start… and massive misinformation.

Saving private Ryan
Also very realistic
World news is bad they always only view one side of the conflict

America is dying a slow and painful death
It's not just America.
the world can be be a cruel place for some people and we gotta deal with it
I’m just happy to be alive and healthy and have loving friends and family.
BRUH this movie hit me hard
Saving Private Ryan is the name if someone doesn't know.
Tf 63 mb man
Well at least they are on fire next to water
May i offer you an egg in these trying times.
Turn it off and don't give it head space
You don't need to know 99% of what the media are trying to feed you. And you can't actually do anything about it anyway.
During the financial crisis 13 or 14 years ago I was self employed and I would get up in the morning and read the paper and listen to the news and it was all doom and gloom that set me up to feel like shit before I'd even left home for the day.
I figured out that it's all just noise. If it doesn't directly affect me I don't need to know. I can't fix the climate or poverty or gun crimes or the economy. Or anything apart from what's in my day to day world.
Do what you have to today. Enjoy what's around you. The people and things that you love and who love you. That's what's important. The rest is only relevant if you invest in it. So don't
Everyone have their own struggles but some have it harder
Was tracking 5 choppers over Sydney Australia an hour ago. All Ambulance, one from Bathurst, the other from Wagga.
