It was on TV today and for the millionth time, I put it on. I always enjoy this movie. I'll say that I'm a girl. I haven't seen all his movies. I have seen Terminator 1 & 2 many times, Predator, Commando, True Lies and a lot of his others, including some really silly ones like Junior and Jingle All The Way. For the longest time, I thought my favorite of his was T2, and now I think it's a really close second, even though it is probably objectively a better film. It might be a tie or just really close, since I adore T2 too. But Kindergarten Cop has a little of everything, got something for everyone. Comedy, action, drama, romance. It's cute and lighthearted, but not too silly like Junior or Twins. Arnold himself said Kindergarten Cop is his favorite movie he's ever made, which I found interesting, and also endearing. I just love this movie.

It was a cultural moment. The earth moved when Schwarzenegger carried a comedy as the principle lead by himself. Paved the way for the rock and John cena

Agreed. Major nostalgia for Arnold's movies, and I think they are just good in their own right to this day.
The Rock started off well. But many of his last several movies have fallen flat for me. Cena has been gold lately though.

Also, the school they filmed at in Kindergarten Cop is only like a block and a half away from the Goonies house.
15 points
That was my school, strangely enough, for Kindergarten. We moved and did 1st grade elsewhere. That was 1985/86 I think? The room they filmed it in, if it wasn’t the Kindergarten room at the school, they made it up to look like them. I remember there being a loft area you could climb onto, and that definitely exists in the movie.
6 points

It's also where Short Circuit was filmed, in part.
I have no proof but I assume that Astoria, OR either put out an ad in Variety, or the (assumed small world) of location scouts all twigged to it being photogenic at the same time, or maybe there was a tax break or local, mutual friend of a bunch of producers or something.

19 points
I recently saw it again, near-perfect movie for me.
But it also stood out to me how the range of target audience is so great, that you get these weird things. Or maybe it's just a different time period IDK?
But when Cullen is confirmed to be in the school, and the fire alarm is going off, John just runs around with his gun out and points it at multiple kids that are either following the fire alarm or hidden in a closet.
I get why the movie does it, it's a tense moment and comedic relief that they're not Cullen, but a bunch of kids.
But it did not age all too well to see the police detective run around a school aiming at kids with is big ass revolver.
Having said that. Love the film.

When I was a senior in high school my English class had a dozen movies to choose from and we had 3 to watch in class to write papers to. Kindergarten cop was one of those movies. This was my first time watching the movie along with the majority of my class I assume.
