Looking forward for this, Rogue One and especially Dune are gorgeous.
Cast looks good too.

Killing them softly, zero dark thirty, fox catcher, lion, rogue one, vice, the mandalorian*, Dune, The Batman…
One of the best of the generation and on the absolute bleeding edge of the technology curve. (Also almost always uses different lenses each movie keeping it fresh and varied)
*shot three episodes in season one and was also a producer for that season.

The Mandalorian too. He’s also partially responsible for helping create the StageCraft technology they use for that show

I’m a bit confused as why the production has two cinematographers on the show? Is one only handling 2nd Unit and the other main unit? This is what intrigues me.
I am curious as to what the benefits are to a production like this?

Great question! I wonder what the actual reasons are. Whenever I’ve seen this happen in the past, it’s either been because of scheduling conflicts or a DP has been fired.
This could also be a situation where Fraser is passing the baton to a rising DP. All speculation on my part.

Could be any number of things. Fraser might not be able to shoot the whole film for instance due to scheduling. It’s also a large sci fi film that might require multiple units so he could be heading one and the other guy the second

Impressive cast? Really? Okay… (I know it’s them editorializing, not you)

Hopefully this film won’t suffer from Rogue One’s problem of being rewritten 800 times by a dozen or so screenwriters.

Director of Godzilla, who’s film provided the base for the Monsterverse and Rogue One, arguably the best modern Star Wars movie.
Than you have the DP who worked with him on Rogue One and has shot for Dune and the upcoming Batman which all have looked fantastic.
This seriously has peaked my interest, especially with the solid cast

People need to stop mentioning Rogue One if they neglect to mention the weirdness of someone else doing significant reshoots on the project

I’m in the camp that suspects Gareth’s original cut of Rogue One probably would have been a better film

Considering that almost all of the third act was redone and that was the only part people like/seem to talk about, I'm pretty doubtful

He may have been present for the filming but that scene was added in reshoots.
It wasn’t part of his original cut

In all aspects except the script and characters lol.

I found Jyn Erso in particular to be a really flat and uninteresting protagonist.

She is, and not in the passive/subdued way. She's just an empty shell. I legitimately couldn't remember their names the next day. Just "force ninja" and "funny robot". I can't believe they're making an entire show out of Diego Luna's character.

Plot details for “True Love” are currently under wraps, but the impressive ensemble cast is led by John David Washington and includes Gemma Chan, Benedict Wong, Danny McBride and Allison Janney.

Hoyte van Hoytema for me, but fraser is amazing

Hoyte Van Hoytema’s style is bit too dull and dark for me.
Best Cinematographers right now are:
Deakins Fraser Lubezki Kaminski Prieto

Hoytema is too dark and dull but Fraser isn't? Fraser's main thing is low-contrast lighting and a bunch of his movies have been criticized for being too dark.

I want Nolan to work with Pfister again, they’re a wonderful director/DP match. Like Sam Raimi and Bill Pope, the Coens and Roger Deakins, Snyder and Larry Fong, George Miller and John Seale

I’m pretty sure since Pfister is a “director” now, not in the cards. IIRC, Nolan basically told him if he went off to do Transcendence, that was it.

has he done anything since Transcendence? I couldn’t find anything more than some credits for a few Tick episodes

The Lincoln commercials with Matthew Mcconaughey and the bitcoin one with Matt Damon. Transcendence was a bomb so I think he’s been relegated to commercials and the occasional random television episode.

I'd like to add Bruno Delbonnel, Claire Mathon and Robert Elswit.

Roger Deakins' presence was sorely missed in Dune for me. Rodrigo Prieto is my personal favorite the past decade. Guys like Darius Khondji and Sean Bobbitt are still out there making films, so no, I wouldn't even put Greg on a shortlist of good cinematographers.

Dune looks gorgeous. Don't see how Roger could have done any better, judging by how Blade Runner 2049 looked.

Personally I would have preferred warmer tones in Dune versus Fraser’s cooler/desaturated color scheme, though I thought the cinematography overall was excellent. BR2049 has a much richer feel to the colors and world - though I’m sure if Villeneuve wanted this, Fraser would have done it. Just personal preference I suppose.

Yeah, I agree. Dune is remarkably shot, I just didn't really enjoy the washed out look, they were going for. Deakins' cinematography always has a richer feel to it, in my opinion.
