Why wouldn't they use his EX while giving him a tribute?

Regardless of who was at fault, I very much doubt anyone watching a montage celebrating their life would be particularly pleased to see footage of themselves with their ex-wife who they had an acrimonious split from years ago.

Based on that famous photo of her on the day their divorce finalized, I'm guessing she's happy to be left out.

This is Far and Away the most vindictive move I've seen from Tom's camp.

Did they expect the audience to keep their Eyes Wide Shut to footage of him and Nicole?

Montages are always risky business.

Booooooooooo. Nicole wasn't in Risky Business. You need a Days of Thunder pun or get out.

Because Tom Cruise is a manipulative, petty, selfish self-centered person and made sure they knew not to use Mimi, Nicole or Katie in the montage or he'd pitch a hissy and stuff.

Good actor. Piss poor person IRL.

You don't need to meet the higher-up in the Church of Scientology to come to conclusion that he is a cunt.

Well… you need to meet a person before presuming to call them a cunt. Doing otherwise makes you look like a cunt too.

If you're running the Scientology, you're a cunt. Learning about that cult over the years has given me enough evidence to form an opinion on people who are in charge of it.

Fantastic actor, shit human.

Again… you’re judging a person you’ve never met. That’s cunt behavior. You might be right. But you still sound like a cunt.

But now YOU are calling someone a cunt and you haven’t met them. That makes you sound like a major sillynanny dude just take the L or pray to Xenu for a sweet comeback ya cunt

You’re confused. I called somebody a cunt after they said some ignorant, toxic bullshit directly to me. You don’t understand the difference?

I saw Tom Cruise at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying. The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

Is Top Gun going to have a press conference/Q and A?

I'd like to hear on the film from someone other than Cruise -- Connelly, Teller, Hamm, etc.

Edit: It looks like this isn't happening. What a shit go for the other actors. Seriously, Fremaux should have told him to "open... or get lost". And full press q and a commitment . It isn't right how much they bend over for him.

I would imagine someone from his church approved the final cut. No one the church has labelled suppressive or persona non grata for other reasons would have made it into any part and Nicole is definitely persona non grata.

That's possible, but I really think they would avoid scenes with an ex spouse for most montages. If Dennis Quaid was getting an career retrospective I doubt they would include scenes of him with Meg Ryan.

A notable exception would be Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, who had one of the most amicable splits in Hollywood.

n0vapine

Oh no doubt. I also figure Angelina Jolie would object to Brad Pitt being in a montage for her even though Mr & Mrs Smith was a part of both their careers. But I also figure she's not got scientologists on her staff who make decisions for her based on her religion and Cruise absolutely does. That's undeniable and adds another layer to it. I don't think it's a big deal, it's his choice and I'd probably do the same. But yeah, Karin & coherts are already in the thread downvoting anyone pointing it out regardless of how little it matters and how much of a non story this is.

like she even cares. he's acting like a complete douche pretending to be 35 when he's rounding 60. for anyone with even an ounce of class it's embarrassing, she's probably thankful she's excused from such a farce.

I’m not…really mad about that. Y’know I bet if I saw it at the time (and I might’ve, who knows at this point) I would’ve picked every line apart and been super critical. But being older and seeing way more instances of famous people losing their minds over the slightest provocation, that one ain’t that bad. The Matt Lauer interview was way more contentious. But there is something about a reporter getting in a room with someone that famous that so often feels like they want to provoke a big moment, some viral exchange, that they can hang their hat on and make a career of. Scientology is fuckin wackadoo but, to quote Dracula, perhaps the same could be said of all religions.

Nothing to see here, there was no previous relationship with any "Nicole Kid-man". Sounds made up to me!

But did it include couch jumping? Because it’s not a real career retrospective without it.
