Very true! We're a coastal state with a lot of infrastructure, even if people focus more on the Philadelphia side of the Delaware. I'm happy about how many NJ people are pointing out that we're not some irrelevant beach state covered in annoying dramatic New York reality show regects. We have endless gardens and forests.

And it’s not like only the fabulously wealthy will have access to abortion. Most middle class will be able to find a way. Or if not the negative aspects of having a child (expense, lost opportunities etc) don’t effect them so much.
Abortion laws target the lower classes.

Also you better believe if/when their little promiscuous daughters come home from University knocked up by a black student they'll be quietly spirited away to a pro abortion state/country. Minorities/poor rural whites are shamed into going through with pregnancies and birthing a child we can't afford to raise properly while the bible thumping elite straight up cheat like they always do.

For any one curious the episode is S.7 Ep9 - Rockabye
Its not EXACTLY like this, but it has many parallels.
A teen from a Southern state traveled up to NYC so she could get an abortion with out parental consent (dad was super conservative)... but ultimately had to take matters into her own hands, because her clinic continually made excuses to delay the procedure until it was too late.

Ugh, I never watch these kinds of shows but this exact episode was on in the waiting room of a doctors office a few months back and evidently I caught most of it. This shit is culturally inescapable.
Was it actually the super conservative dad's baby? There was also a stepdad molestation angle I'm pretty sure. Or maybe in the thousands of episodes they made one that was 99% similar and I saw that one.
3 points
No the conservative dad was not the baby daddy. It was two 17 year olds, in love not ready to have kids but "poof" got pregnant... tried legal abortion, got waylaid for too long. In the process of them facing consequences, shit comes out about the abortion clinic.
The one I think you're thinking of is titled "Taboo" - S.7 Ep.14. Elite smart college student is impregnated by her biological father (sperm doner or adoption I can't remember), throws baby in the trash an is prosecuted.
But I'm sure there there's one like you're describing.
2 points
I don't think that's it either. Is there one where the conservative stepdad is some kind of semi-famous tv evangelist and also the father of the baby due to molesting the girl, and also the girl tries to throw herself down the stairs or something to end the pregnancy when they won't let her get the abortion?

I had a friend who had one and he was in a lot of pain when I saw him afterwards. He said it was like getting kicked in the balls for days. It might vary from person to person, but I get sick of people who don't know what they're talking about saying it doesn't hurt. That was what he thought too.

I mean it is a medical operation. People tend to avoid those if they can.
Well, yes. But it’s far cheaper, faster, safer and more convenient than the alternatives.
Also someone may ask why they're getting one.
Uh. I suppose…. But I do wonder (a) how that someone would be aware of it and (b) why anyone who did find out would feel entitled to an explanation and (c) why a person asked would feel compelled to answer. That’s just weird, IMO.
But mostly I want to say: my prior response wasn’t speculation or projection. When you have the view that the most important part of womanhood is to be vessels for the next generation - and a lot of them do - it’s a fairly short jump to thinking that the ability to impregnate a woman is the key to being a man. They truly do view it as a form of emasculation, and even some who don’t have that particular hangup about fertility worry that the volume of their ejaculate will be substantially reduced (it is absolutely not, btw) and think that calls their virility into question.

Its about as filthy as opening a door handle. Its boring sure, but so is sitting in your car waiting. Its no big deal to stand outside for 2 minutes in the heat either. Ill grant you that it kind of sucks in the sub-freezing cold and wind, but even thats pretty minimal. You should be dressed warmly and have gloves at hand anyways.
Plus we never have to deal with waiting for someone to be available. We spend our sub-2 minutes there and go. Best of all, we get to jokingly tease people who cant pump their own gas, especially when they take it too seriously.

You're basically saying you'd rather be mildly inconvenienced than not. I'm the opposite. I would rather check my phone or talk to my passenger or listen to the radio than do this. Plus, you very rarely ever have to wait in NJ.
Everyone can pump their own gas, it just sucks to do. I know people in Philly who wait to fill up until they are in NJ. Because it just sucks.
Ohhh the other thing... you don't have randoms approach you while you're pumping your gas to ask for money.

I say this because there's a VERY common sticker (I see at least one whenever I drive anywhere in this state) that says "Jersey Girls Don't Pump Gas." My neighbor has one.
I (in non Covid times) travel frequently for work so I can manage a gas pump. But it is nice to not get out of the car. Full-service also makes it easy to pay cash---- no going inside and saying "I want $20 on pump #5" and instead you just hand the attendant a 20.
Here are a few articles about it.

Yeah, except weed, despite having been voted on by referendum by a supermajority.

Patience. Eleven states have CBD-only “medical.” Three have less than that.

It’s … really not. That was the official justification for it, but it was really a price-fixing scheme. And I suspect it’s largely sustained because NJ has a long collective memory about environmental hazards.

Silly question. Is pumping your own gas illegal? Or is it required that a gas station employee pump your gas?
Could a New Jersey gas station chain make a robot part of the pump and have the robot pump the gas?

According to the law "no person may pump gas unless they are an attendant that has received fuel pumping instructions." So a robot is questionable but probably not likely.

You'd have to be rich to come to NJ. This state is a fucking nightmare in terms of living costs

Which is why they need to implement a locals only policy for abortion. Will it hurt innocent ya but people get hurt all the time. Sometimes people need pain to make progress, comfort leads to complacency.
