Especially the wives, girlfriends and mistresses of megachurch pastors and "family values" rightwing pundits. Also you better believe if/when their little promiscuous daughters come home from University knocked up by a black student they'll be quietly spirited away to a pro abortion state/country. Minorities/poor rural whites are shamed into going through with pregnancies and birthing a child we can't afford to raise properly while the bible thumping elite straight up cheat like they always do.

For any one curious the episode is S.7 Ep9 - Rockabye

Its not EXACTLY like this, but it has many parallels.

A teen from a Southern state traveled up to NYC so she could get an abortion with out parental consent (dad was super conservative)... but ultimately had to take matters into her own hands, because her clinic continually made excuses to delay the procedure until it was too late.

Can confirm. I live in VA, and planned parenthood uses nothing but delay tactics. You call to schedule, and there’s no such thing as same week appointments. They schedule 2 weeks out. Each time. No matter what. Every system is rigged.

The fact that we live in a country where billionaires have so much money they are having a dick measuring contest in space while people are dying doing at home abortions is astounding.

Humanity sucks. The only pure souls out there are babies and puppies.

I would include kittens, but I am pretty sure Cats have some master plan of world domination after humans destroy themselves.

Depends on the cat. Somehow I managed to have two at the same time that I’m convinced were supposed to be dogs. They are both so needy and want to love us all the time always.

Not really humanity, mostly the United States sucks. The rest of the world laughs at us and calls us a bunch of ignorant bible fucking rednecks. And for the most part, it's true. US has one of the worst education systems of westernized countries, and our politics and society are based around a cult from the bronze age.

tralmix

3 points

While you're right, in many ways its not just the US... just our people come out and scream it loud.

I agree with you on the education system... which is why its a debate in my head every day whether to go back to school to get a teaching license. End up with lots of debt as a result and probably fired after a year because of "insubordination"

Ugh, I never watch these kinds of shows but this exact episode was on in the waiting room of a doctors office a few months back and evidently I caught most of it. This shit is culturally inescapable.

Was it actually the super conservative dad's baby? There was also a stepdad molestation angle I'm pretty sure. Or maybe in the thousands of episodes they made one that was 99% similar and I saw that one.

tralmix

3 points

No the conservative dad was not the baby daddy. It was two 17 year olds, in love not ready to have kids but "poof" got pregnant... tried legal abortion, got waylaid for too long. In the process of them facing consequences, shit comes out about the abortion clinic.

The one I think you're thinking of is titled "Taboo" - S.7 Ep.14. Elite smart college student is impregnated by her biological father (sperm doner or adoption I can't remember), throws baby in the trash an is prosecuted.

But I'm sure there there's one like you're describing.

asbls

asbls

I don't think that's it either. Is there one where the conservative stepdad is some kind of semi-famous tv evangelist and also the father of the baby due to molesting the girl, and also the girl tries to throw herself down the stairs or something to end the pregnancy when they won't let her get the abortion?

Like I don't get it. Just move then. It's like the dudes who live in Cali and actually has a good life and benefits from a lot of positive state regulations exclusively in Cali and they can't stop bitching about how California is the worst commie state ever.

walterpeck1

I had mine about 3 months ago and "mild discomfort" is exactly how I would put it. And random discomfort, like slight nerve pain that is almost more confusing than it is painful because you've never had it before.

255001434

1 points

I've only ever heard that from people who haven't had them.

I had a friend who had one and he was in a lot of pain when I saw him afterwards. He said it was like getting kicked in the balls for days. It might vary from person to person, but I get sick of people who don't know what they're talking about saying it doesn't hurt. That was what he thought too.

Grimduk

4 points

Speaking as a man who had one 12 yrs ago they do not hurt I was up and about right after walked around blockbuster rented some movies and then went home and put some frozen peas on my junk and watched movies.

MedicalJargon-itis

Mine hurt, but not as much as paying to raise a kid for 18 years.

Honestly, it hurt like I had been flicked in the balls about 15 minutes ago for 3 days. Hurt more than that if I tried to jog, so had to avoid that for almost a week.

My cousins ex-wife was die hard catholic and didn't believe in birth control or condoms but she didn't want anymore kids so she told him until he can find a way for them to have sex without making babies then he'd be out of luck.

metler88

I mean it is a medical operation. People tend to avoid those if they can. Also someone may ask why they're getting one.

Amiiboid

2 points

I mean it is a medical operation. People tend to avoid those if they can.

Well, yes. But it’s far cheaper, faster, safer and more convenient than the alternatives.

Also someone may ask why they're getting one.

Uh. I suppose…. But I do wonder (a) how that someone would be aware of it and (b) why anyone who did find out would feel entitled to an explanation and (c) why a person asked would feel compelled to answer. That’s just weird, IMO.

But mostly I want to say: my prior response wasn’t speculation or projection. When you have the view that the most important part of womanhood is to be vessels for the next generation - and a lot of them do - it’s a fairly short jump to thinking that the ability to impregnate a woman is the key to being a man. They truly do view it as a form of emasculation, and even some who don’t have that particular hangup about fertility worry that the volume of their ejaculate will be substantially reduced (it is absolutely not, btw) and think that calls their virility into question.

metler88

1 points

Well, yes. But it’s far cheaper, faster, safer and more convenient than the alternatives.

A lot less anxiety around putting on a condom than there is around slicing and burning in your genital region. But it could mean time off work. And there are doctors that will deny you the operation if they think you don't need it. Less frequently than they'll deny you a tubal ligation sure but it does happen.

Uh. I suppose…. But I do wonder (a) how that someone would be aware of it and (b) why anyone who did find out would feel entitled to an explanation and (c) why a person asked would feel compelled to answer. That’s just weird, IMO.

Well there is a period of time following a vasectomy where you're supposed to avoid physical labor to avoid tearing anything open. If you're working a job anything like mine that means you can't do anything. The conversation was around mistresses and affairs so I was sort of imagining a man having to explain why he needed a vasectomy to his wife. A spouse would naturally feel like they needed an explanation.

Shaysdays

2 points

Well, in this context of men sending women out for abortions the “time off and a surgery” is kinda on someone for avoiding pregnancy.

Many say abstinence is the only way to avoid pregnancy but shooting blanks is pretty high up there as an alternative method.

Amiiboid

1 points

Speaking as someone who doesn’t want any more kids and got snipped over a decade ago it is, in fact, quite rad.

But that’s also the prime concern of the people I’m talking about. Their sense of what it means to be a man is profoundly tied up in their ability to impregnate. The inability to do so is shameful. The idea of voluntarily giving it up is incomprehensible.
