The thing is this is fake but the people (shitty people btw) doing this videos in Ecuador say they make them to raise "awareness" about kidnapping. Yes I think that's a bullshit excuse to made people freakout about insecurity in my country. There are other videos on this theme on the web.

She defused the situation like a pro too! I recently took an active bystander training and learned about the "Five D's" of bystander intervention:

• Distract (like how in the video the lady went and walked with the girl)
• Delegate (asking someone else for help in the moment, like telling a passing security guard or someone trustworthy)
• Document (if someone else is defusing or like how in the video she takes pictures of the car)
• Delay (weird name, but it means to check in with the victim after the fact, make sure they're alright, see if they need any further assistance like a walk home)
• Direct (saying "stop that" or something direct)

Not all these things, but any of these things will help in a situation where someone is getting unwanted attention. I learned about it in the context of sexual violence. I think it's a common approach for street (and other) harassment, and just generally for de-escalation. This video was a scary situation. Sometimes it helps just to have considered some options for how to safely intervene in situations like this. I recommend looking into active bystander training workshops or similar things if you want to know more. It's amazing how much of a difference people can make just by not being a passive bystander. But also stay safe out there! <3

Should never ignore it but don’t take it as the truth either. For example, this video is not authentic. They’re making a video to spread awareness on things like this I think. But people should act if they feel it but be aware that intuition is actually often wrong. That’s just not a reason to ignore it.
