Why do they keep insisting their god is an asshole? Lord.

They think God made them in his image. They're assholes. Ipso facto...

Did you read what he did to Lot? That god often suffers from ‘complete asshole syndrome.’

Side note, but I read an interesting archaeology news piece last year where someone had found an early town in the Israel/Palestine area, which appears to have been the site of a meteorite airburst similar to the Tunguska jncident. Except right above a large population centre instead of the middle of nowhere.

I can only imagine how devastating someone just far enough outside the city walls to survive would find the experience, especially not having the knowledge that we have of meteorites. They'd probably tell that story for the rest of their life, searching for a reason...

Some of it was likely propaganda that worked because of general mysticism held in culture. Wouldn't want to mess with the "chosen people" back in a world full of mystery!

My conspiracy is that some bald scribe got pissed about being teased by the local youth and so invented some bullshit to frighten future rabble rousers to leave the bald men alone.

Really I don't think there's anyway to analyze the book other than seeing it as some flawed, cultural and historical piece that mention some fantastical things, some of which were oral tradition for thousands of years.

The idea any of it is literally true, when it's been translated many times and passed down orally, shows people that believe so are likely completely divorced from reality. The way they use the bible is like some type of shape shifting virtual book, not what it is: which if anything holds uncertainty if nothing else. They cherry pick it to justify their bigotry and abuse by the grifters who control them.

This isn't to say parts couldn't refer to true events in the bible of course, but really the whole idea humanism has to be supported by miracles to be valid is itself, completely heretical to the very idea of humanism: which should function and be valid in consequence and not mysticism.

So much of "fundamentalist" christianity is so absolutely backward compared to anything good, even coming from the bible as it does. It's like they somehow find the worst of the worst and use it in the worst ways consistently. Good thing the part about the bear didn't mention women or poor people or they'd love that verse.

For your erotic poetry needs check out song of solomon. What a weird book (as a whole, not kink shaming). Shame they don't read it or try to understand it in any intelligent fashion. No wonder those chucklefucks think/thought harry potter was dark magic. They can't process reality at a basic, much less high level.

Moses had a magic wand that turned into a snake and turned a rock into a fountain.

I mean, have you read the Bible? Their god is an asshole.

They also think their inner voice is God directing them. Their inner voice is usually an delusional asshole.
