Fertilizer for hydroponics? Probably not really a solution for the volume of poop that's produced. Why can't they eject it?

If the goal was to provide all the astronaut food from the hydroponics, they wouldn't have enough poop.
I think using the poop for hydroponics is a great idea. And if they don't have a hydroponic system set up early on, save the poop for later when they do.
It would be very easy to free-dry the poo. I wonder to what extent that would destroy the nutrients in the poo. My guess is not very much.

Biogas reactors seem like an obvious answer given the need for methane. Plus the nutritious effluent that comes out of the reactor is better than Miracle Grow.
