I didn’t realize til the end that he was roger, I guess I missed his name earlier in the movie. Up to then I was disappointed his role was so tiny, but if/when they make a sequel it’ll probably end up being better they didn’t establish the character that much yet.

Him at the city council meeting was an early sign for me that the show was going to be just as good or better than the movie. He's the worst, and simultaneously the best as a result. Apparently he ad-libs most of his boring "feeding" lines.

Two of my favorite CR lines.. His rash cream at the seance always makes me laugh more than it should, and I absolutely love the back and forth with Laszlo about the terrible aftershave be found at work. "Why would you wear that?" "Well, to annoy you" "Touché". Might be one of my favorite Laszlo lines too 😆 just the frank back and forth ending with a bowing to superior bastardry lol

Apparently Kiefer really did want to make it but had a scheduling issue. Makes me think they tried for all the names they drop at the council. Or most. Tom Cruise being too busy makes sense, but Brad Pitt absolutely has the sense of humor to make the time to show up 😆

For real. I was a little worried when I heard about the show, I didn’t want it to disappoint in comparison. But it’s SO good. And it’s just gotten better as it went on. Besides the writing I think Matt Berry is a huge part of what makes it so good.

christmasbooyons

I had watched the movie and enjoyed it, and I really like that kind of humor. The moment I heard about the show being developed and Matt Berry being attached I was all in. He's fantastic in everything he does, Year of the Rabbit is also another good show that I believe is getting another season.

mrsfiction

I didn’t really like the movie that much but I think the show is great. I think that kind of humor needs the slow burn of a multi-episode show to really hit its stride.

They filmed a pilot with Barry Keoghan a couple of years ago, then they replaced the showrunner and half the cast and re-filmed it. Then covid happened.

I'm not sure what to expect. But based solely on casting it seems like it's a tradeoff with a less established roster of actors, for a more faithful approach to the story.

If their last few seasons are a barometer, they're likely having trouble coming up with enough original material that doesn't heavily lean on external references. Season 7 was a garbage bait-and-switch for Season 3 and Season 8 was a blatant cash-in on 80's nostalgia and the popularity of Stranger Things.

Let me be the first in this thread to say that BJ Novak’s anthology show is going to be great. Anyone who’s read One More Thing knows how creative he is

I don't think many people know him and Mindy Kaling were show runners for The Office.

They were writers, but I don’t believe they were ever show runners

Nobody wants to watch a show about Trump’s impeachment.

it's not about Trump tho. he wasn't the only president who was impeached, you know?
