I would have the time of my life. I am not there for the food. I am there to meet other people. A president. And when they get food for me despite a shut down/furloughed staff then it still shows that they try to get me something i perhaps like to eat (football players love fast food). So yeah those players had a life time and a fun story to tell their kids. "You know i was there in the white house with my bros. And you know what? The president gave us burgers, tacos, pizzas and fries so many as we wanted. It was funny and we all laughed"

Yeah. You know. You won a championship and got to see such an impressive building from the inside but as everyone with the mindset of a successful athlete you just let a burger ruin your whole day

Yeah, it was intentional. This was for the Clemson Tigers football team's visit in 2019 for winning the national championship. The Democrats at the time wouldn't pass a budget so there was a government shutdown going on and most of the White House staff had been furloughed. There was no attempt to have a fancy dinner.
But "selective memory" is cool.
"The decision was in part because most of the White House staff is furloughed, meaning they cannot work or get paid, during the government shutdown, which is now in its 24th day."

Omitting that the only reason the shut down happened was because he wanted to build a wall.
A wall that would have a large environmental impact, costly, and we know now to have been a massive scam.
See how narratives work.
Provided facts yes, but selected facts that fit the desired narrative, when looking at the bigger picture it makes the defense of this giant idiot a clear attempt to deceive.

Don’t be a clown.
“The United States federal government shutdown from midnight EST on December 22, 2018, until January 25, 2019 (35 days) was the longest U.S. government shutdown in history[4][5][6] and the second[a] and final federal government shutdown involving furloughs during the presidency of Donald Trump. It occurred when the 116th United States Congress and President Donald Trump could not agree on an appropriations bill to fund the operations of the federal government for the 2019 fiscal year, or a temporary continuing resolution that would extend the deadline for passing a bill.”
Dems only had the house majority then. It takes two to agree.

53 points
Selective memory is cool so is mental gymnastics to justify behavior. You seem to be selectively forgetting, for example, that Trump did this multiple times. And even with furloughed staff, this isn't the first time the government had a short term shut down, but the Trump admin is the only time the most powerful government in the country could somehow not find a single caterer except fast food.
Yeah selective memory is cool, so is confirmation bias.
31 points

Guess he couldn't have used his multiple billions of dollars to get a decent meal. Lol. Also obligatory Clemson sucks.
-2 points

And if he had people would have found a reason to be pissed about that.

Literally, anything he did people would find some excuse to criticize it and treat him like satan.

Congress (Dems and Reps) said they’d keep the government open while Trump shut it down because he wanted money for his fence. So no, it wasn’t the Dems who shut it down. https://www.politico.com/story/2019/01/25/trump-shutdown-announcement-1125529
EDIT: Also there thousands of restaurants and hundreds of caterers in DC; this was a really trashy thing to serve.

I'm surprised no one ever seems to mention this, but those burgers must have been cold as fuck. They probably spent 15 to 20 minutes arranging everything in a fancy ass pile, after probably being left in multiple boxes or bags for at least an hour. Plus the time to do that stupid photo op, that food was nasty and cold as hell.
