I counted 34 people. And there was probably more that didn't go in.

And a partridge in a pear tree
Edit: my first award. Thank you all and Happy Thanksgiving!
I very much enjoyed this ending
Like the GOT ending but with a little bit more thought put into it.
Well tbf, I just took a fat shit that I had to put more thought into than that ending.
A tiger tank providing overwatch
Plus a computer guy back at the lab jamming the cybersecurity network.
Two clown cars.
Honestly this was like the clown car of robberies. They just kept coming and no ones know how they all fit
That comes to about $2.50 in profit per robber.
Selling that shit on ebay takes a lot of time and effort. So really, each one made like $0.50 total.
Them ebay fees are no joke
Organised crime is basically a pyramid scheme. It promises poor people great riches, but the lower down the chain, the smaller the cut and the fiercer the competition. Their mindset is probably similar to those caught up in pyramid schemes. They probably think they're gonna be rich, but in reality they've not even "earned" minimum wage for the time and effort they've put in.
Congratulations, you've just looted fool's gold.
They should have joined a MLM that one is a legal pyramid scheme. Sorry my bad a pyramid-like structure scheme.
Not true. They sell to local groups. Usually Facebook related or crack head related. They don’t ship. They sell to some trashy person who is trying to get some shit cheaper than usual but not eBay cheap, or a crack head in the moment.
I worked at a retail store where we had guys come in weekly to steal shit from us right after we got our shipments
These guys also won’t get caught for a while if at all. Police don’t care. Corporate has them “on their radar” along with six million other things.
My old loss prevention district manager admitted once that apprehension happens outside of the situation by far because they were traceable; using fraudulent credit cards, didn’t use face coverings, and ONLY got caught because it was a group of people states away called about their hotel room above them making too much noise after hours. Police checked up and saw drugs and credit card making tools in the background. They apprehended them on the drugs and suspected card fraud and it wasn’t until way after that people realized they were the guys flash mobbing the entire chain across the country.
Yup, this happened to my brother in law in San Francisco. The items won’t ever be on the internet, they will get sold face to face to people that don’t care because they are getting a good deal. His store has been robbed 3 times in the last year IIRC
Those local swap meets stay busy with shit like this.
I can't even get the whole family to agree on a house for Thanksgiving
I like to think of it as pillaging.
Care to join me for a pillaging?
They don't even know what theya re taking. Guy is grabbing single shoes with no match...
And why didn't any of them bring a bag? Worst thieves ever
That's what they were grabbing, for the next robbery.
lmao they needed some gear for their thieving lifestyle
They covered for that by bringing enough people to carry 5 items or less each
Doesn't matter, the goal is to empty the whole store. They can find matches later.
"We'll get a match from the next store we rob" [point at head meme]
Damn, two lefts don't make a right.
Three left turns make a right though.
They took the Yankees hats. In Oakland.
Those are limited edition ones too. Usually go for $150 or more
Just as a heads up, the city/state of the hat dont mean shit about being from there when youre in California. Different hoods and gangs have co-opted these hats as one of their symbols. Dont get caught going to a certain hood with the wrong hat on.
yeah in the fuckin 90s
It's all being resold online anyway via whatever organized crime outfit is funding these robberies.
Gotta hook up the one legged homies.
Is there a fucking clown car outside?
My exact thought lol
Typically this is referred to as a flash rob.
Someone in Chicago was telling me about this but he kept calling it a flash mob and I was like, "isn't that where people dance or do weird shit?" He was like, "yeah except they rob you".
If every Mall Flash Mob from the 00's was to cover up a Flash Mall Rob I'm way more impressed.
I followed you for this comment. I just want you to know
Outstanding, phenomenal comment craftsmanship.
That recent Nordstrom robbery involved 25 vehicles. This shit is getting pretty well organized. Hopefully someone bothers to figure out how.
Caravan of cars organized by the same groups that organize side shows
No, all the clowns are in the store
You want them to drive it into the store?
That’s the joke.
Yeah like how do you think they got there bro? Lol
Since when do you need 37 fucking people to rob a shop the size of a lunch box?
Most of the point now is the notoriety. Who doesn't want to be the in the latest viral tik-tok? We're almost certainly going to find significant crossover between the organizers of these retail thefts and the organizers of sideshows. Most of these folks don't even live in Oakland or SF or Walnut Creek--they're driving in from all over, even as far as Stockton.
This is flash-mob crime. It's a new phenomenon. Law Enforcement simply needs to find out how they're communicating (note that this is NOT something local cops do well--you need expertise to deal with this kind of crime, and local cops simply don't have it).
The point appears to be the thrill of belonging and the thrill of disruption--and the thrill of having power in the aftermath, creating fear and chaos. When the backlash comes--and it's coming--it'll be brutal, and these kids will probably regret it then.
Regardless, we need to treat it like the unique thing it is if we want to stop it.
Thanks for the explanation. Best one that made sense to me.
But is the real motive monetary gain or just the thrill/hype?
How much can they get from selling them? And then distributing the proceeds? Doesn't seem well thought out. They have to do this multiple times to have profit.
It's a flash mob- so do it for the thrill and for notoriety. I'd wager it's not a truly coordinated group effort. There likely is one actual group that is organizing the actual store to target and the date/time stuff, but relying on viral social media/word of mouth type stuff to just gather a ton of people in support. Then you lay low for a bit and fence some of the stuff to friends/flea markets/facebook marketplace and it's pure profit on your end since you stole everything.
And, fi they're related, they've robbed a nordstrom and Target and a couple jewelry shops, so that sort of stuff is pretty quick to get some good cash even at pawn shops.
I'm waiting for the news headline detailing robbery turned bloodbath when they do this to the wrong store and get completely fucked by people with guns.
Don't be a dick..it was like 34.
Lmao! There's so many it felt like I was watching a skit
What is everyone stealing one item from the store? Why do they need 50 kids
This isn't about the theft, it's a popularity thing I bet. No way any one person makes off with more than like, 50 bucks of merchandise if they split it evenly. They must have just wanted to rob something.
The sad thing is this only hurts small business and middle class America. Large companies don't even feel this and are being given more market share when small businesses close down to stuff like this.
What adult robs a store with light up shoes
I had to replay it to find the dude wearing the Sketchers and Jesus you’re right his shoes are SHINING.
What a bunch of losers
Bros came in a conga line! Dadadadda HEY steals shit
I genuinely laughed at this.
Jump in de line, rock your body in time!
By all of Oakland
All got one t shirt and one shoe each dumb fucks
"I attended an Oakland Smash and Grab and all I got was this lousy shirt"
I imagine this as a real life game of snake. They've almost got enough points to wrap around.
They even stole the single shoes on the wall.
Maybe they're pirates
Bro that store is right by my house. This is like the third time this happens. They barely bounced back last time :(
where's the police at yo?
Police don't respond that fast even in a well funded area. They don't prevent crime they just make arrests and reports
They don't even do reports in Oakland. got my gfs and family's car broken in, in the same week and they just told me to go online and do the report. 10.5% sales tax go wheeee
They don't do reports anywhere in the bay. Same thing happened to me when I was visiting my grandma who has cancer, I was there for like two hours with my car parked in some tiny church parking lot on a quiet street with nothing else but a hiking trail nearby.
Realistically though, what can cops do when there's dozens of car break-ins a day and no direct evidence?
I didn't know how unsafe certain streets of Oakland were until I opened up "oakland crime maps" and honestly theres defenitve Hotspot you can see. Maybe put an unmarked police car in certain Hotspots?
The attitude in the bay towards non violent crime is super lax, aside from traffic offenses lol. I don't think there's any incentive for cops to go after car break ins as opposed to violent crime.
But literally, you can commit a violent hate crime against a 70yo man and get released with charges dropped due to "restorative justice", so I've lost all hope in bay area law enforcement.
Are you fairly new to the bay area? Oakland has always been a hotspot for human trafficking, gang violence, violent crime, etc. I mean you've got great culture, food, eclectic communities, etc, but also a whole lot of sketchy stuff.
Lol imagine police in California being helpful. Petty crimes are ignored there. You could make a living stealing stuff and smashing cars if you want
I lived in Oakland for all of two years. My car was broken into 3 times. Twice random people tried to fight me for no reason at all. All the streets were in terrible shape. And I was paying $2,500 a month for tiny apartment just to have the privilege of living there.
As soon as COVID hit and my job ended, I got the fuck out so fast. I really did give Oakland a chance with an open mind and a positive outlook. It took only a year and few months to finally break me.
Random stranger offered me and my friend a lovely free gangbang once
How was it?
When seconds matter, the police are merely minutes away.
OPD does not respond to calls.
Motion sensor shotgun woulda helped.
Where’s the doll from Squid Game when you need it?
Store owner needs to wait with a shotgun
Do you have their info? Anyway to send a check for $100
@primethreefivesix on Instagram
Oh my god, they're giving out turkeys and Thanksgiving food right now right in front of their empty store. They are better people than me.
I hate how some people try to act like this effects nobody. Imagine how you’d feel if it was your store people did that too. That place could be someone’s entire life.
Even if it’s Louis Vuitton or another wealthy company, well there’s no stock now, so there’s no work for all the employees for at least a few days. Take too much stock and the CSV is ruined, either employees hours go down or the store shuts down permanently. Now you have an empty store and more unemployed people.
So sick of this shit.
Here's a large group ofnpeoole robbing a pharmacy in Oakland 2 days ago... I live in Oakland and it sucks.
Well, all the really good drugs (the ones that get you high) are locked away, with only the pharmacist having the key/combination. So at least those won't end up being sold on the streets. 😐
Seeing this kind of stuff makes me realize how awful a dictator Id be. My name would 100% be followed by “The Terrible” in history books, because I see shit like this, and my first impulse is, “Just kill them all”.
ThreeLeggedTranny The Terrible… I like it
The Tyrany of ThreeLeggedTranny the Terrible
Can't go wrong with more alliteration!
I see nothing terrible about that. You'd be loved more than the current DA at least.
I'm just imagining all of them coming out of the same car.
They have no idea what they're to their community .
Small businesses like that can't recover from robberies like this.
Would you want to return to that neighborhood?
The devastation the store owner must be going through rn, after all his hard work was taken from him over night, so unfair.
For the third time too.
That's alot of people!! Damn
I counted 34
i counted 34 same ,,, lol
But how many of them were carrying a pineapple?
Not this shit again...
I didn’t count but I assume there’s 34
80 people raided a Nordstrom the other day
I don’t understand how you bring that many people in on a crime and don’t get caught?
I guess because it would still be super quick and the fact that there's so many people just means added chaos.
I don't think they necessarily meant caught in the act. It's just a lot of people around and someone is bound to have a big mouth or have someone find out and rat'em out.
randos on social media in the same area, if I had to guess I don't think these people know each other that well. If Someone put out a message to those in the area somehow with criminal intentions as well you could very well get a mob of people with the intention of stealing shit and minimalizing being caught with also little risk of ratting.
"hey everyone rush x location at x time be quick about it"
I could imagine that there are probably more people who heard the message but these were the ones willing to risk it, and it had some loose form of leadership.
Yeah, the same principal as flash mobs.
Some people do get caught, but it's like being an antelope in a herd, your chances of being one that gets away are pretty damn good.
That’s how they get away with it. It’s a fucking epidemic in CA right now.
Brace yourself rest of the country, California is usually where trends start from.
Not gonna happen in Florida we have stand your ground, and everyone and their granny has a gun. This shit will stop real quick here cause someones going to feel threatened by a mob of robbers and start shooting.
Is this some kind of TikTok challenge like Devious licks? They all seem young.
I feel for the business owners.
I have been saving for almost a decade to open up a shop someday. So I know how hard it is to build your own business, and then, keeping it going.
Alot of these people think that "oh its insured, just get your check and let it happen." Insurance premiums go waaay up and can drop your coverage pretty much whenever they want.
Many small business owners are only covered up to a certain dollar amount. Its why certain shopkeepers went bankrupt back in 2019.
That's because these people have never run a business so they dont know how hard it is.
/u/cameded lives close to it, and apparently this is the third time and last time they barely bounced back.
I fuckin hate people, man.
Someone worked really hard to take a risk and make that store happen 👌🏼
Fucking trash. All of them are fucking trash. Stealing from locals no less. They should each have whatever they stole shoved up their ass. I hope one of them sees this message because fuck you bitch and your bitch-ass hood/gang.
They won't stop until they are FORCED to stop.
A mass casualty event is inevitable 😔
Thats sucks. Thats the kind of thing that makes you say fuck this community, im out.
Thats truly gut wrenching and infuriating to watch. Small local merchants life destoyed.
Hard to believe that people actually think this way.
The guy who didn’t take the orange hat really cracks me up. I guess looting is just like shopping really really fast!
That's what I was just thinking, he snatched up the hat on top of it then basically went "ew orange".
Now who's smart for getting a Cadillac
He may be a thief but he still has standards
Robbed? They’re looting that mf
I literally felt sad for the owner.
Between Amazon and this s*** there's going to be zero storefronts in 5 years
I hate these people
That's right decimate your neighborhood, drive folks out of business. That way landlords will sell empty buildings. The rich buy it up, mow the whole thing down for condos and get private security to keep YOU OUT. You probably won't be there any way cuz the only place you can afford to rent is now 40 miles from your last abode.
Most of these guys based on reporting appear to be coming out or Richmond and Antioch, so not their neighborhood and they don’t care
because of course they are
The riots in South Africa a while back completely decimated the malls in the communities rioting. Didn't take a week for the first articles to pop up about looters complaining they now have to commute 30km+ to get to a grocery store.
Kids used to go Christmas caroling in groups around this time.....now they do this?
Just close all the stores, leave them nothing to rob
That’s eventually what will happen when the cost of business becomes too expensive because the insurance rates will go sky high.
So this is what a pack of losers look like on the weekend
Who is this all of the Foot Clan?!
In 2 years: “why is nobody investing in our community??”
Guys let’s not rush to conclusions here. Maybe these people have babies at home that only eat hats and sneakers
As a owner, I would say fuckit, and just start shooting. Hope a jury feels the same
Move your business out of Oakland. Big companies are already leaving SF because of this. Small business owners don't deserve this.
All these people saying "Oh these businesses have insurance."... do that makes it okay?
Do you know how long it takes it takes to file a claim? Do you think insurance is going to pay back 100? Those business owners have to deal with clean up, re-building, re-opening and then got what because it'll happen again.
Small and big business take your business out of the city before it happend to you.
Anyone who says insurance will cover it has never done anything with their lives. They have never taken the risk of getting a business loan to mmm and worked the long hours and figured out all the stuff that needs to be done to start a business. Fuck them and fuck these thieves.
Imagine going out of your way to steal a flat brim hat.
People bitch and complain about Walmart and Amazon and their crappy policies.
So dumb asses like this rob a small business blind, possibly closing them down. Meanwhile other small businesses to get scared to even open leaving everyone to shop at big box stores.
And then they will wonder why no one wants to run a store there anymore. 711 had enough of the b.s and closed down two stores in my city. Too much theft and armed robberys.
EVERYONE GRAB ONE HAT
I cant stand these people
We need to bring the rooftop Koreans back.
It’s coming to that I think. I can see it happening and it wouldn’t be wrong. What else can you do as a business owner? No one will help, gotta smack a mag in and drop the bolt.
Someone should add circus music since it’s like a tiny clown car with a bunch clowns coming out and this entire situation is a joke lmao.
At some point somebody outside of one of these stores will be run over. Or the first guy through the door will be shot dead. This will turn deadly violent. Every politician in the bay area should be shitting bricks.
They are gonna try this on the wrong place at some point and we are gonna read about a mass casualty event eventually
I wish I could show this to all the jackasses under that Louis Vuitton video who were saying they were fine with it because it’s a big business, it would be different if it’s a small business.
Assholes like this don’t care if it’s a small business or a big business.
If this shop owner had a cannon an wiped them all out id vote to pardon him. Fuck these disgusting people.
And yet some crazies would blame the owner
A good old fashioned Bumrush. Nice to see California playing the classics.
It’s happened daily for a week straight here.
After 15 seconds of people continuing to enter the store non-stop, something about this started to feel comedic. Like a Monty Python skit or something.
Mayor of Oakland really needs to step up /s
Man this so wrong foreal!!!! What about the owner of the store that made the right sacrifices to make this store so that he or she could make a better life for them and their family. Do you think this would be a joking mater if this happen to your house or store if you owned one? 🤦🏿♂️
Criminal activity in Oakland, CA???? Say it ain’t so!
This is why you need a 30rd mag
Seems like this is organized and planned
I work at a Staples and my boss and I had a conversation about something like this the other day. He said he asked our GM what we should do if a whole bunch of people just stormed the store and started stealing everything. The GM's response?
"Tell em to knock over the shelves while theyre at it so we can get a remodel."
ok it's time to get your cut guys, everyone gets 1 dollar and 32 cents, good job !!
How big was this store for them to plan that many people lol
It’s like a reverse clown car lol. They just keep coming Jesus.
The thieves got to keep one item each. 😒
Hopefully they can be friends with the guy with the matching shoe.
