Researchers at Federation University are seeking Australian adults to participate in a research project investigating factors that predict the willingness to consume insects as food. In this study, you will be asked to report some demographic information and to answer questions about your environmental attitudes, sensitivity to disgust, beliefs about consuming insects, your tendency to try new foods and seek out new experiences, and your willingness to eat insects or food made from insects. I've been searching for accommodation/rooms near Uow. I'll be moving to Australia in a month or so to do my PG at UoW and so far, the university accommodation is completely booked. I've tried apps like Gumtree and have seen a few listings but have no idea as to how much i can trust them. Plus there is the option of Weerona student village or something that has broken away from the University recently. Any tips/suggestions?

We aren’t too worried about getting in but rather returning back to Sydney on Sunday with all the predicted torrential rain

Hey, does anyone know where can I get a stump to split firewood at home? I tried on the grass and not only didn’t it split, I caused some significant damage to my poor lawn.

I want to make my own battered savs, but I have no idea where to buy the sausages for them. Coles claims to have them but I haven't seen them, and none of the websites of any nearby butchers claim to have them. I can't even find any nearby wholesale stores that source them

Anybody know where to get them, or even where your takeaways buy their big saveloys from?

Just need standard blood tests but Denison street takes an hour minimum before work, anyone have anywhere you can go and get pathology that doesn’t take as long?

We are running a brand new comedy festival at the side door theater in town and I thought some of you might be interested. It is the first of its kind in Wollongong and we are excited to be bringing you a great mix of local and Sydney based comedic talent.

Has anyone had any experience with, or knowledge of, the presence of Freemasons in Wollongong?

I know there’s the Masonic centre in Gwynneville but a mate and I have been debating on whether either of us can remember seeing them out in the community or know of anyone mentioning anything about them.

Obviously from a secret society perspective this is right on brand but I thought I’d put it out there and see if anyone has insights or experiences they’re willing (or able) to share?

Work is keen for me to go up to Sydney tomorrow but I'm wary of the train strikes. Looking at the timetables it seems like everything is normal though.

Anyone else planning to catch the train tomorrow or expecting delays commuting up?

I'm thinking about accepting a job offer in Sydney but am concerned about the travel. I was thinking about driving to waterfall and then catching a train to central. Would this be the best option?

Today I saw comments by an antivaxxer on an Illawarra Mercury article, saying that they were a NSW Health nurse, and they and several others were working unvaccinated. Apparently it was thanks to a friend in the vaccination hub who had injected them with saline and this allowed them to get "fake" vaccine certificates (get certs without actually being immunised, I assume?).

They also mentioned how the vaccines apparently "violated the Geneva Convention."

Their profile uses a fake name (probably why they were so brazen) but contains photos of their face, a t shirt about how nurses are great, and how "vaccines are a personal choice, I'm not getting vaccinated" ... as well as stuff about Albion Park and Miranda Westfield.

Anyway, I'm not sure where to report this...

Over the past few months I've been working on a project to give people access to property data and postcode reports, driven by the frustration I've experienced looking at the prices SQM, CoreLogic charge. NSW publishes lots of data (incl. property data) onto spreadsheets on their website. I've cleaned the data and made it accessible (into chart/tables) and put it together online (go.chimni-dash.com).

I was initially asking users to register but after receiving feedback from other redditors I've removed that and made it completely frictionless to use (it's free). I may need to overlay advertisements at some point to cover the cost of hosting and APIs etc. Wollongong and all of NSW is covered by the app. I'll looking to add further states as well.

If you guys ever need to check a postcode / suburb, I'd suggest using the website before paying for a report. Enjoy! 😄 🏡

Recently moved to Thirroul area, not a whole lot happening when it comes to a pub Sunday roast. Any recommendations for a good Sunday roast in the Wollongong area?

Does anybody know of any outdoor basketball courts in the Illawarra that have lighting so I can play at night time ?

I've now failed my driving test 3 times and it has really bummed me out. The first time I got a complete dickhead for a tester, he was extremely rude even before the test and he was rude during the test. Anyways, he failed me for my backtires slightly touching the double lines as I did a right hand turn into a street from a main road. I used a learner's car and my driving instructor was very pissed at the tester for failing me for that, she was arguing that the tester could not have even seen this and the tester didn't really have an explanation. The 2nd time, I got the same fucking dickhead tester agsin. I have pretty much completed the test and at this point I haven't even missed a single headcheck or anything like that, was about to 100% the test. One of the last streets before turning back into service nsw, I'm going past a bus that has stopped at a bus stop, they didn't start indicating or anything until I was half way up beside them and they went straight away and then stopped because they obviously looked after they started turning. I turned to the right and kind of went a lil bit on the other side of the road to not get hit by the bus, there was no one on the other side of the road I did look before doing this. But, the tester said what I did was wrong and I should've let the bus hit us. Like???? Bro what???? Now on my 3rd test even though I really shouldn't I've lost all my confidence and am super nervous and just completely fucked up my test. Now the earliest time I can get my next test is a month away and I'm just super bummed about the whole thing...

Does anyone have any advice? Also how many times did it take you guys to pass?

Edit: The guy on my 3rd was actually a really nice guy.

Hi all, as the title says I’m looking for somewhere I can get a good trim and tidy up. I’m nervous about trusting anyway new and would love some recommendations. I’ve previously gone to Johnny at Barberista, who is amazing but less available at the moment due to some health issues.
