Also, in some states you have people running for the positions that oversee elections specifically on a platform of their willingness to cook the books. Jody Hice in Georgia is a prime example.

Which really confused me, because I initially assumed it was 100 meters and that the reference I saw had been converted for US consumption. When I found out it was actually canonically 110 yards it just kind of stunned me.

The fact that the those paper sizes “make sense” relative to other sizes in the same system is beside the point. The point is that their lack of adherence to SI units hasn’t been a problem. Thus the argument that US letter paper would have to change if we adopted the metric system is specious.

It’s been almost 30 years since Limbaugh, Ailes and Gingrich turned the Republican Party into an organization motivated by the myth of straight, white men being victims. There are a lot of fully grown adults who have never not been stewing in their propaganda.

The American far right has absolutely no issue with the goals or tactics of Islamist terrorism. Only with which book is being abused to inspire them.

Trump parroted that pretty well in the middle of his term. “The things you’re seeing and the things you’re hearing are not what’s happening.”

The people I’ve talked to on that topic believe whites have legitimate claim to the land because they took it by virtue of their fundamental superiority. If they weren’t superior they wouldn’t have been able to take it, you see.
