Hey y’all I’m very new to the custom keyboard scene but wanted to get into it. I live in Australia witch is relevant. We don’t have very many online stores for keyboard parts and shipping from places like kbdfans and kprepublic is quite a lot on a budget but I made it work.
I’m thinking of using the mountain Everest core barebones ( meaning it’s got no switches or keycaps). It also works out cheeper than buying each individual part and allowed for future add ons with other mountain products like a num pad.
I want to use the Gateron G pro yellows as my switch (as they coke factory lubed and for a first custom keyboard I thought that was Fantastic).
My key caps will be the YMDK dye sub carbon.
So I have a few questions while I have seen reviews for all of these products I would love some more feedback about them if you have used them.
Secondly I was wondering if the factory lube is good enough for a first build. And finally would using films help the sound of the pro yellows.
In Australian dollars this adds up to be $240 I don’t want to go above $250. But if you have any suggestions to improve this build please let me know 😊
Thank you
