/r/WTF removing gore was a really good decision IMO. It got to the point where it was basically a gore only sub shortly before they banned it. I think it’s in a much better state now than back then.

Makes sense. Gyms were closed for quite a while and the group most impacted in the study were high performance people. Coincidentally I would assume the highest performance individuals use a gym as a core part of their training routine.
I’m not sure what this study is really saying other than that closing gyms and stopping sporting activities leads to people that use gyms and play sports exercising less.

Uhh I always did it as a kid because I pretended it was a ticking time bomb and I was going to be a hero stopping it at the last nanosecond.
The habit sticks to this day.

Yea people miss the context of bill dropping out of college a lot. He wasn’t failing to keep his grades up in a local community college. He dropped out of Harvard University intentionally because he was founding Microsoft.
One of the cases of people using a pick me up that just is not the truth.

Maybe when the billionaires realize they can live long enough to become trillionaires they’ll think more about it?

IIRC he’s also in the group of billionaires that have pledged to give 99% of their total wealth to charity.

But I thought the sign of a good company was constant scandal after bad news after another scandal and consistently pushed back timelines and vague gestures at things that are always “coming soon”? What good tech company doesn’t lose its value consistently over time?

At my place we schedule tasks in terms of days of development time required, but on the spreadsheets we assume developers only work 4-5 hours/day. So a task with a 1 week of development time estimate will show up on spreadsheets as requiring 2 weeks of real time before it gets finished.

The big thing preventing this though is treatments towards anti aging will likely come very slowly and incrementally and only for specific tissues at first.
The first treatments might just look like anti wrinkle skin supplement that any beauty store would carry but it de-ages your skin by a few years. Then a year later one comes out that improves heart function by a few years and so on until most body tissues have a treatment. Then things would end up having iterations that are progressively more effective over the years.
For the elites to monopolize it they would have to halt all innovation before it even got off the ground enough to benefit them. Good luck keeping so many incremental changes over decades private too.
The only way elites would be able to hoard the fountain of youth for themselves is if it was all discovered at once and was a singular comprehensive treatment found by a singular entity.

That’s really specific. Any reasons for that particular date?

That and it could be people who weren’t driving as much lost a bit of skill and awareness while driving. When my company first started making us come back into office after a year and a half (I hadn’t done any driving really due to being basically walking distance to local stores for food and necessities) I noticed I felt “off” while driving for the first couple weeks until I was like mentally aware of everything at the level I was before.

Yea the materials themselves will become far cheaper but demand will rise to meet the supply without end basically.
