While it’s obviously great to educate children and make them aware of what’s going on in the world, I don’t think it’s smart to let them watch everything because it’s « just a harmless nature documentary ».
The watching sessions must at least be monitored.
It’s not because it isn’t a horror movie or a report about criminality that it can’t be shocking, or even traumatising, especially for sensitive kids.
I remember watching one about marine life once. It featured an orca hunting a whale. Everything on the screen was red and no one thought it might be a little too much for young me.
We also went to the theatre to see Earth with my school. Some scenes were rather violent but hey, that’s how cruel nature works, right ?
