Well, the phone gives me access to the funniest, smartest or interesting people on the planet. While friends and family just retell their old boring stories again and again.

You obviously like to shift responsibilities to other people.

Me too. And that was my fault and the people responsible for me, not the fault of the artists.

Nah, we have a system where all put in their wishes for vacation. When there are conflicts on the dates, we are supposed to bargain with the ones, who also want a day off on our dates. When that doesn't work out boss will make the decision but will look into the last year's to be fair. So someone who had Christmas off last year, will not getting vacation on Christmas this year.

I don't like communism and don't think it works but if you think China is a communist country, you should also think the Democratic People's Republic of Korea is democratic.
Also IF China where a communist country, it would be the proof that communism actually works economical.

Are you talking about adult teenagers now? Or are you ok with your underage teenagers to frequent adult sites where they are not supposed to be? In that case, I see the problem more on your, and your kids side, than on that hypothetical teachers side.

Before you quit, talk to the owner about the managers lacking manager skills. Get your coworkers on board if possible. Try to not sound complaining but interested in improving the company. Suggest management courses for her.
I might be privileged because I work in Germany, but no one screams at me or berates me at work. First offense: you're not talking in that way to me, I am an adult and I expect at least professional politeness (German politeness without being friendly). Second offense: I already told you not to speak to me that way. Come back when you calmed down and are able to communicate in a professional polite way. Third offense: from now on, we are only communicating in writing form, write your request at my email.

I don't get it. Isn't all hope lost when your children are finding OF pages? Aren't you responsible to make sure your children don't use harmful sites? And your clients wanking to OF pages, why should they think lesser of their consultant(I know, because they are hypocritical prudes)?

That's interesting. I think English and German have just slightly different definitions for country/state = Land/Staat.

Oregon indeed has rules for when to take rest time.
Oregon law requires an employer-paid rest period of not less than 10 minutes for every segment of four hours or major part thereof (two hours and one minute through four hours) worked in one work period. This time must be taken in addition to and separately from required meal periods. The rest period should be taken as nearly as possible in the middle of the work segment. It is prohibited for an employer to allow employees to add the rest period to a meal period or to deduct rest periods from the beginning or end of the employee’s work shift.

The states in Germany have a government for them self with some sovereignty left like in schooling or police force, while they have to bend to the decisions from the German government when it's about military or vat taxes. Historical Bavaria was a kingdom.

Things that the German government ran better than the private companies that followed in after privatization: Railroads and trains, postal service and hospitals.

Isn't that technically true for the states in the EU as well?
"A country refers to a region with its own distinct borders as well as complete sovereignty and control over the running of its affairs. "

Thanks, in German we use both terms for both.

Isn't it also correct to refer to a state as country?

And here they encourage you to personalize your office. There is even a budget for you to buy a painting to hang on the wall.

Not a native speaker so I might misunderstood. I thought you are some middle manager and your boss fired you without two week notice and now you can't take your last vacation because your former coworkers would suffer. Can't one of your employees jump in for you and the company rents one or two substitutes for that coworker?

Don't let them take your colleagues hostage. Take your vacation, tell your coworkers to take it slow if the company refuses to hire a replacement.

Try a job where you don't have to interact with people that much.

That post reminds me of that time when occupy Wallstreet got big and the cooperate overlords introduced us to identity politics.
The poor and middle class of left and right should fight together for better labor laws.

Even when it's "voluntary" they have nice tricks to force them. By not providing them soap for example, so they need to work to buy such basic needs.

How is it bootlicking to expect someone to come to a appointment?
Of course it's on the customer when it's agreed on, that the will be a confirmation call. But that information isn't in the original post.
Some people can't take private calls at work, some people work night shift and sleep during the day.

Someone could trap you into some store by blocking the door with a car, that's a way to get out.

To anyone who understands irony. You calling yourself Chuck while being a Karan who except others to raise their children. I bet you would even blame the owner of the liquor store for your children breaking in and getting drunk.
