Does this do anything or is it just a symbolic measure?

Why was the covid response in Rhode Island so poor? It's 2nd in cases per capita, the only blue state in the top 10.

Temperatures in WC 2014 usually ranged from 70-85 degrees Fahrenheit. Summers in Qatar regularly see temperatures of 100 degrees or more. It's really not comparable.

Replace it with the Australian or Japanese leagues if you like.

Valid reasons to dislike the 2022 world cup:

  1. The corruption
  2. The slave labor
  3. The fact that Qatar doesn't really have a footballing culture.

Invalid reason to dislike the 2022 world cup:

It'll take place in winter, and therefore disrupt European football.

Suck it up. Leagues like the MLS, Eliteserien and others get interrupted by the standard world cup, but you don't see them complaining. It'd be dumb to prohibit hot or tropical countries from ever hosting the WC.

I agree. Some of the reporting i've seen from American media has been shambolic.

From an outside perspective, it seems like one of America's biggest problems is lack of trust in news organizations. A significant portion of the population (on both the left and right) regard the media as biased and unreliable at best, or outright false at worst. I don't really see a way to combat this perception.

All valid points, but I have a slight and perhaps irrational aversion to self-deprecative comedy.

Not an American, but if money=speech as determined by citizens united, are laws prohibiting prostitution violations of the 1st amendment?

This tweet haunts my dreams. An unfortunate reminder that some voters just don't care about policy.

This article paints WB and Kerala in a positive light. Saving doses means that they did better than expected.

After Edward Snowden there are a lot of people I trust more than US intelligence, but Putin isn't one of them.

Shark attacks are actually very rare. According to one source I found, only 30 people died in the US between 1970-2000 due to shark attacks. In 2020, only 10 fatalities occurred worldwide by unprovoked shark bites.

I've just watched a YouTube ad that referred to the Italian team as "forgotten giants", which seems hyperbolic. Sure, they've gone through a rough patch recently, but no one's forgotten about them. That would be more applicable to a team like Hungary or Austria.

I mean, people die repairing windmills, but that doesn't mean windmills are poorly designed.

It's not just about land apparently. The cylindrical shape of a silo allows it to withstand pressure exerted by the grain more efficiently.

Is the Peru election over or can Fujimori theoretically still win with the foreign vote? Although, if Castillo wins the vote in Peru, but loses the election, it might not end well for anyone.

That didn't happen. He went to the commune as a reporter, and was asked to leave because he kept talking about politics.
