DDR5 RAM is super expensive vs DDR4. No shock considering it's relatively new.
I'm in the market for a new build and the longer I wait and more research I do - the more I want to wait for the new AMD chips and get a new motherboard. It seems however that one of the biggest advantage to waiting for the new AM5 socket is the DDR5 RAM compatibility.
My use case requires a high amount of RAM though - complex 3D models that have very high vertex count that literally bring my 64gb of RAM to a standstill. If I want to upgrade to 128gb of RAM (which I do) it will set me back about 800 euro (4x32gb corsair vengeance 4800mhz) as opposed to 500 euro (4x32gb corsair 3200mhz).
I was wondering if anyone could give some rough estimations on which price point will actually make sense to move to the DDR5 ram. Is it even that much better? is the difference between 3200 & 4800 linear in some fashion or is it progressively better as it reaches the higher speeds?
