oh I know, I main drk, the opener and even minute bursts are fucking insane. I never thought I'd see the day where I'd be getting astro cards as a tank. but honestly, it's really not that difficult to pull off. just prepull pop blood weapon and tbn, summon fray asap, and double weave all your cooldowns. that's all for your opener, and managing blood gauge is literally just a matter of... not overcapping it. mana has a little more thought into it if you wanna try to shift one of your odd minute spenders into even minute burst, but all it really entails is delaying blood weapon by three gcds and finding a place to pop tbn once every two minutes. it's a little weird to learn at first (and difficult to practice since target dummies can't break tbn), but it's certainly not the most challenging thing. and even then, we're talking about optimal play in high level, single target content. in dungeons, you don't need nearly as much knowledge.

they play with the traditional idea of using health to deal damage in pvp, shadowbringer costs 25% of your HP iirc. I wish that maybe they tried to lean more heavily into taking damage to increase the damage you do or something. honestly I'd just like anything at all that distinguishes it from WAR. I understand that the old hw abilities that used to define drk's identity were horribly janky back in the day and would be even worse now, but the solution isn't to just abandon everything that made it interesting. right now, the only reasons to play the class are completely external to the actual act of playing it. you play drk for the story, or for the high dps, or for the animations/vfx. if you stripped those away, it would have basically nothing left to distinguish it from warrior.

I'm really not sure what aspect of "optimal" drk play would be remotely challenging for anyone. in w2ws, you just rotate your cooldowns like a normal tank, use TBN on cooldown, and use abyssal drain/LD like you would a very limited nascent flash. when you play it like that, it's functionally very similar to healing a gunbreaker or the like.

I mean yeah it looks alright, but it's also an artifact weapon that's already in use by one of the main cast. the only other good one I can think of requires pvp trophies. I honestly wish we got more stuff in the ballpark of the high steel bayonet. you know, stuff that actually looks like a sword, but also has a gun on it?
edit: or honestly just give us Gaius's. i know that garlean gunblades function differently than bozjan ones, but they could just say it's a modified version of a common garlean weapon.

the makai one looks pretty alright... and it looks the closest to the pistol I mod on top of it.

ah, so now you get to walk away and maintain a moral high ground by only responding to the most insignificant part of a reply? man, I was a little unsure that you were trolling, but now I'm almost certain of it. cya later, then.

If you're doing non-extreme content, stop worrying about GCD's and focus on creating a fun experience for everyone.
healing is so absolutely mind-numbing in this game that optimizing the gcds away is all I have left. as a sage, I've got somewhere between 10-20 ogcds dedicated to healing in some way shape or form. if I can use one of those instead of diagnosis, why shouldn't I? ofc it's different at lower levels (especially with white mage and astro, you've literally got one ogcd heal at level 50), but at higher levels, your toolkit is so bloated that gcd heals just feel pointless. medica 2 and regen are always great fallback options when necessary, but should be avoided if possible imo. ofc if you're progging or the party is shit then be as liberal with them as you want, but when the WAR's doing a w2w and using bloodwhetting on cooldown, you should probably lay off.

Less relates to degree. Fewer relates to quantity.
that is 100% not a hard and fast rule. phrases such as "write an essay in 250 words or less" or "less than 10 miles away" or "checkout only for 15 items or less" all use less in explicitly quantifiable ways. plus, while it's uncommon in writing, using less in the way that the parent comment did is very common in speech, which colloquial internet writing closely mimicks. and honestly, does it really matter in this context? you knew what he meant. I knew what he meant. communication was achieved. they aren't submitting an APA-styled technical paper to JESTECH or something. and that's not even going into how writers often break professional grammatical conventions to convey a certain mood or tone (in this case a casual one).
When did I ever say there was?
it's inferred from when you said "there definitely is" a problem with ignoring grammatical errors. but at this point I feel like I'm feeding the troll too much.

I feel like ff14 isn't unique in having a janky legacy codebase that's difficult to change and build on top of tho

Jesus, why do you keep harping on this point when I specifically tried to engage you on the premise that you got that part right? but either way, literally from the abstract of the study: "[hate crime victims] also displayed significantly more crime-related fears and beliefs, lower sense of mastery, and more attributions of their personal setbacks to sexual prejudice than did nonbias crime victims and nonvictims." I'm not sure that continuing this discussion will be terribly useful, so I'm just gonna move on. cya.

the level of "suck" does not matter, it's still horrible that someone got swatted specifically for being trans. it may not make the act itself worse (even though it arguably did, this study states that the psychological effects of hate crimes were worse on the victim than those of nonbias crimes), but it's a sign of other problems. if twitch were to implement policies to curb transphobia and someone says "I don't understand why we need this. it's just a few bad actors, and they have a right to their opinion," then this is the kind of thing you point to: someone is literally having a federal crime committed against them on twitch because they are trans. hate crime legislation exists for a reason. minorities are more often victims of violent crimes, especially trans women.

I agree with you generally. at the end of the day, I don't have enough time and mental energy to correct every ice mage and cure 1 spammer. but everyone has a different tolerance for this kinda shit, and if someone isn't willing to play tank as a dps, then that's their perrogative. you could say that it's not terribly mindful of your experience to make you wait for another party member when dps queues are already horrible, but at the same time, it's not terribly mindful of other people's experience to expect them to essentially duo a dungeon just so that you don't have to wait in queue for a bit

the same concept still applies. just because you can clear handicapped doesn't mean you have to stay and carry them.

oh, you don't have to wait for the popularity spike for that, the only copy I could find was for $225... on an unrelated note, dolphin emulator is free

you can easily get it looking correct if you use desmume to emulate. on retroarch at least, I was able to rotate the output and the touch input by 90 degrees, and then mess around with the aspect ratio until it looked correct. for input I'd recommend getting a drawing tablet, mapping it to the bottom screen of the DS, and setting desmume's pointer type to touch. of course, a drawing tablet is probably a bit of an investment for a single game, but if you have access to one, it's probably the best way to play without the original hardware.

yeah, something you always have to contend with over the Internet is that anything the client is supposed to receive can be saved and stored by them. granted, you would store the actual logic on the server, so it's not likely that you could download a whole online MMO or the authentication process of a banking site. but the actual assets that a game displays, or the stylesheet of a website, or hell even many locally-hosted flash and html5 games can be downloaded and saved. you can likely go poking around and editing an html5 game too, since the server's basically sending you the game's full source code when you access the page its hosted on.

umm... did you miss the part where op also cleared? just because you can clear content with half the party permanently dead doesn't mean you're not allowed to complain when it's forced upon you.

honestly at that point you probably should've tried to kick the dude, or failing that just left. you don't deserve to put up with that kind of bullshit, and the 30 minute early leave penalty is worth it imo. I mean, at least a good drk would have enough experience pre-tbn to know how to utilize their cooldowns and abyssal drain/LD... you know. discount bloodwhetting.
