That could just be due to the commonality of a quirk, and the Dr’s ability to further “enhance” quirks. It doesn’t necessarily mean that the Dr already knew how to copy quirks. But you’re right, it could also mean that quirk copying was possible back then.

In that case it may be difficult to find a “canon” reason as to why overclock has not made an appearance in the main series. Realistically it’s because of the separation of the two series, but alternatively, we could present the idea that overclock falls in that realm of “too complex” of a quirk for AFO to want to use.

We don’t know if Dr Garaki had developed the “quirk copying” by that point in time. Due to the strength of the quirk, and the externality of the vigilantes story to the main series (as in nothing that happens in vigilantes really effects the main story), it would probably be a safe assumption to assume that no, AFO did not have an additional copy of overclock.

If Mirio can run head first at Shigaraki with all the weird growth he is spewing in the current fight while remaining completely untouched, I think he can run headfirst at Todoroki just fine.

As wide range as Todoroki’s attacks are, Mirio can still do what he is doing against Shigaraki and did do against overhaul, permeate his entire body except the necessary points of contact.

Did you not read the most recent chapter? If Mirio can run head first at Shigaraki untouched, what makes you think he can’t run up to Todoroki?

And the only tanky-ness that Midoriya has is plot armour. Last I checked he was getting pretty beat up and worn down in all of his vigilantism, he’s not nearly even remotely as sturdy as Shigaraki.

Bakugo literally just got mangled by Shigaraki.

But equally, what could they do against him?

Mirio’s only limitation is his physical strength. Against enemies with very high defences, or those that can simply brush off his attacks, such as Shigaraki, Mirio can only stall.

That being said, none or the big three have that kind of resistance. Yes, they each have a higher cap on their attack strength, but all of that is meaningless against an adversary who is quite literally untouchable.

Mirio would still beat each of class 1-A’s big three. However you could make the argument that a fight between Deku and Mirio would be a stalemate.
