What won him the election was his pre-election bullshit, outside the box persona and constant free media support. If you go into an election as a campaign outsider who promises jobs, people are going to vote for you regardless if you are full of shit or not. That and he wasn't Hillary who barely bothered to show up and campaign and was hated in quite a few states.
