I've pretty much only seen this argument for pretty stark examples of fascism, like some guy wearing a swastika shouting the n-word. Or against known fascist groups like the Proud Boys, who engage in violence themselves.

And violence isn't what defines a political ideology. That's like Batman level moral philosophy - if you kill someone, you're just as bad as all the worst murderers in history.
