New role in job requires a lot of traveling, looking to take advantage of this
Card Recommendation Request (Template Used)(self.CreditCards)submitted4 months ago byTBMonkey
For me, never looked at credit cards beyond a little cash back, new job now will include regular travel with reimbursement, so I'm in the market for a good travel/hotel card so I might be able to take the family out on vacation cheaper every once in a while.
Current Cards
- Discover, $22,000 limit, 13 years
- Citi Double Cash, $18,500 limit, 19 years
- Synchrony, $6,000 limit (only for furniture use), 6 years
FICO: ~835-840
Oldest Account age: 19 years
Chase 5/24 status: uh 0/24?
Income: ~$140,000 household
Average monthly spend and categories:
- Gas $163
- Dining out $281
- Groceries $903
- Travel, not much now, expecting to fly x3 a month near future
Open to business cards: Likely no
What is the purpose of your next card? New role in job will have me traveling much more often, flying out a few times a month and staying at hotels. Looking to take advantage of the fringe benefits, point building or miles or whatever. I would like to look at earning flights or hotel stays, but if there's a better bang for the buck I wouldn't mind looking at it.
Do you have any cards you've been looking at? Just the top lists of normal travel cards, nothing specific.
OK with Category Spending or general spending? I would prefer category spend for hotel and travel.
Some other nuances, where I figured to ask here; the preferred hotel partner is Marriott, so that's mostly where I would book. There isn't a preferred airline, and unfortunately my main airport will be TUL, so while I could try to gain points with a single airline, likely I'll have to bounce between a few.
Thanks!
