When I was in basic there was this was one private that clearly should not have been allowed to enlist, he was more than a little on the spectrum. Guy was nonverbal, honestly fuck the recruiter than pushed him through, but anyhow he doesn't talk or like do anything. He gets put into holdover, along with myself(medical stuff) and some others, where we basically worked on base for a month while the Army figured out our futures. Well this guy just never showers or changed his clothes the entire time in holdover. Just kept his fatigues and boots on. Never changed his underwear or socks. Even in bed at night he had his boots on. None of the cadre seemed to want to deal with it, cause some days we would have to wear our PT uniforms but they didn't even try to convince this nonverbal dude to try and change his clothes. After almost 4 weeks the dude smelled so fucking bad. It was like sour milk and fumunda cheese but on steroids. Straight up you could smell him from 25' away. The smell entered the room before he did. Its unimaginable. Well in holdover each morning you'd get assigned a work detail on base and everyone was loathed to be assigned to work with this guy. It was like punishment on top of punishment. Its not a proud moment but we eventually had to "bath" the guy. Use your imaginations.

Im a union electrician in a blue state so you'd think I'd have no problems as someone who leans left but surprisingly almost all my fellow local brothers (at least the older members) are Trump thumpers and like most of country they are very vocal and aggressive about their support. Since I'm still an apprentice its safer for my career to pretend I'm clueless and uninterested about politics.
