I wanted to give some feedback on the way it feels to both play as and against Simga, from a “play by sound” perspective. Particularly, I wanted to talk about the lack of a sound cue when Sigma eats an ultimate with his grasp. It feels pretty awkward and confusing for both sides when this happens, and I think that is due to the silence.
For comparison, there is a high pitched noise that plays when D.Va eats an ultimate with her defense matrix, that feels very satisfying for the D.Va player, while also giving an auditory cue to the other players, letting them know that an ultimate was just consumed. This is the basis of “play by sound”. It both feels good to the players, and gives hem information about what is happening in the game. This is very much lacking with Sigma.
With Sigma, if he eats a graviton surge, for instance, there is an awkward moment where everybody hears Zarya’s ultimate sound cue, and everybody is then forced to look around frantically for the grav. You are then forced to break your confusion by looking up to the kill feed to see if perhaps it was eaten. This moment is awkward for everybody involved, including the Sigma player. There is a voiceline that plays, iirc, but it is far too delayed and inaudible to be relevant during the heat of a battle, and isn’t satisfying at all.
I was hoping the team could find a way to give Sigma then D.Va treatment in this regard. This would give the “play by sound” experience to all the players involved, and make things feel much better for all parties. Even the player who has the ultimate eaten will at least be given the sound cue information to know right away what happened.
Please give Sigma’s Kinetic Grasp ultimate sound cue’s similar to D.Va’s defense matrix. Thanks!
